A pin-drop silence filled the room after Kain's response. Kain didn't seem to be concerned at all regarding how the others would respond. He turned off his primal fear ability so that the others would be able to respond rationally.
Elsa blanched and couldn't look directly at Kain anymore. Her eyes looked down towards her lap as she gripped her skirt tightly with both fists.
The leaders of the respective groups were quite surprised and realized that Kain was a force to be reckoned with. Tessa had the urge to admonish Elsa for weakening their position with her outburst, but doing so would further weaken their hand. Tyrin smiled and admired Kain for his ability to dominate the meeting with a few simple sentences. He was satisfied that Kain had his head on right.
Tyrin looked towards Sylvia and made the decision that if she wanted to, he would play as matchmaker between the two. Having such a son-in-law was very appealing.
Aleria was wondering what kind of relationship Kain had with her daughter. She was hoping that Talia would be more than just a normal friend. Kain certainly had the potential to be a mover and a shaker in the power struggle within the Council.
Kara and Lana had sparkles in their eyes as they couldn't take their eyes off Kain. How much more dominating can their prospective lover be? The two were conversing telepathically on how glad they were to have come to this meeting.
Barton was throwing thumbs up signs without concern about others seeing his actions. He wanted to shout out that Kain was his bro, but the atmosphere was too heavy. He had learned his lesson from his mistakes during the last meeting. Desmond smiled and nodded at Kain.
Marissa had a strange look in her eyes as she observed how the others would react to Kain.
Darius, ever the peacemaker, was the first to cut through the tension in the air.
"I'm sure Elsa didn't mean anything by her comment, Kain. As the representative of Breitgaard, I recognize that you will be a most valuable ally. My faction is known as the premier supplier of enhance pills. I am willing to offer a steady monthly supply of enhance pills to you and the Argenti faction as an opening gift for our first meeting."
Kain smiled at Darius for being the first to provide an offering.
"I am not the kind of person who merely takes and doesn't reciprocate. For every two purple pills you provide, I will give you one of these. Just crush it with your fist or swallow it to absorb it."
Kain took out one of his 25x strength radiation balls that he created from a purple enhance pill and floated it over to Darius.
-A good ruler will not just take from allies and subjects, but reciprocates in return in order to foster loyalty. You will still benefit from this deal, as you will have one extra radiation ball left over after you convert the pills. (Mexxle)
-Alright, I see what you mean by having a certain demeanor. Now that you have suitably cowed everyone here, you may as well cede back control to me. Thank you, Mexxle. (Kain)
A blue light flashed once more in Kain's eyes and Mexxle receded into the depths of Kain's mind. No one noticed as everyone was busy focusing on the glowing orb floating across the table.
Darius received the radiation ball and observed it with curiosity. He could sense the radiation within the ball and decided to crush it with his fist. Immediately, he felt his strength surge and couldn't help but gasp out in shock. Whatever this ball was, it was at least 5 times more effective than a purple enhance pill for those in the Genji-tier. The radiation ball was simply revolutionary and would shock all of Bastion.
"Wha-What do you call that ball of radiation? Where did you get it?" asked Darius.
"Let's just call them enhance orbs as they provide a similar function to the enhance pills. Just know that I can get more of them." replied Kain.
Everyone watched the slightly agitated Darius and couldn't help but want to know the effects of this new enhance orb. Darius didn't hesitate to toss two purple enhance pills over to Kain.
"We also have rainbow pills for exchange. What will we get for them?" asked Darius.
"For now, just exchange the purple pills. I will let you know later whether I am interested in a trade for rainbow pills. Be assured though, that you will not lose out on such a trade." replied Kain.
Darius' actions caused the dam to break open and Tyrin, Aleria, and Tessa started speaking out their offers to Kain. They all guessed that the enhance orbs were good and wanted them. Kain waved his hands to silence the onslaught of words.
"One at a time. Everyone will get a chance. Tessa, you owe me something first before anything else, right?" asked Kain.
Tessa quickly nodded her head and spoke up.
"Famine was actually the lowest on the hierarchy in the military. He was basically a grunt sent out by his superiors. His mission was to conduct illicit experiments away from the public's eyes and then send the research findings to them. Famine and Pestilence were actually pseudo members aiming to be official members. If their hybrid research was an astounding success, they would be able to return to the military and conduct further experiments that would have the full support and backing of the higher ups.
The information that shocked us was a memory that Famine had showing some kind of chamber. Inside the chamber, there was enough radiation to kill a person in a few seconds. However, seated inside were a mix of 6 men and women wearing Velyon battle suits. They were still alive and absorbing the radiation!
We can tell that those 6 individuals are immensely powerful since they can survive in the chamber. If they are passively absorbing radiation from the chamber, those individuals will continue to get stronger. Our alliance must have a contingency plan for them."
Kain nodded as the information truly was eye opening. Famine and Pestilence weren't even official members of the military? Does that mean the official members were truly heinous and committed even worse crimes? Looks like he would have to give the military a visit after he powered up his brothers and situated his forces.
"Kain, the Penta girls have an information network that is second to none through the services we provide to the public. If you wish to know anything in Bastion, you merely need to ask us." said Tessa.
Kain decided to test them.
"Is there another place in Bastion where they keep zombies and monsters in captivity, just like they did beneath the Colisseum?"
"Yes, there are actually multiple locations in Bastion. I will speak of the locations with the highest number of creatures. One is under the Grandia Academy under the purview of the military, another is located beneath the slave markets under the purview of Lavaris, and the last is the auction stock pens which are controlled by Lenaris." replied Tessa.
Kain was happy with the information and floated over two 25x orbs.
"If I have other questions or need information, I will certainly go to the Penta girls. I will pay a suitable price for such information." said Kain.
Tessa immediately crushed one of the orbs and her eyes widened as she realized the effects of the orb. She pocketed the other one to see if she can figure out how it was made.
"Aleria, I would like to visit your stock pens and purchase some creatures. I also have many things to auction. We will speak more after the meeting in regards to what I will auction and what will be offered in payment. Here is advance payment." said Kain.
He floated over two 25x orbs as well as a 100x orb to Aleria. Kain would certainly treat the mother of his lover better than the others.
Everyone noticed that one of the orbs floating towards Aleria was much brighter and bigger than the other two. Darius and Tessa couldn't help but salivate at the thought of a much stronger enhance orb, since they just experienced the effects of the orbs.
Aleria wasted no time as she crushed one of the smaller orbs. She had already guessed the effects after observing Darius and Tessa absorb theirs. Nonetheless, she was surprised at the efficacy of the orbs. She was very tempted to absorb the brighter and bigger orb, but decided to pocket and save the rest.
"Thank you, Kain. I will give you a personal tour of the stock pens when you have time." said Aleria.
It was finally Tyrin's turn and he made his offer, which collectively stunned everyone in the room.
"I am not strong enough to take you on as a disciple. However, it doesn't mean that I cannot teach you anything. I noticed during your battle with Dominius that you have an overreliance on your powers. Let me ask you, if one day you met an opponent who was just as powerful or even more powerful than you, do you believe you would win? I would say no. You lack fighting skills. I know that you used to be a long-range support during your missions, so I'm sure your shooting skills are superb. However, it seems you don't use guns anymore as they would probably be obsolete in terms of power.
I'm willing to train you to become the most skilled fighter that Bastion has ever seen. Not only that, you will be versed in the highest level of tactics and strategy. These are areas that you are currently lacking. Combined with the powers you possess, you would become the ultimate all-rounder and have no weaknesses whatsoever. There is only one stipulation to all that I have to offer…
You must become my son-in-law."
