Chereads / "6" The Almighty Supporter! (Re-written) / Chapter 2 - Dominic Who Cried "Unfair!"

Chapter 2 - Dominic Who Cried "Unfair!"

Someone used to tell me. That whatever happens in life, I shouldn't worry too much about it. Do not overthink and do not overreact. Because in reality, life is this one crazy rodeo where anything goes! One moment you're riding the bull merrily and the next moment the bull is trampling you on the ground.

I was inside a cozy little cottage. A home all to my name which was built using plain oak wood. A thatch roof may not be the best but it protected me inside during nights of cold rains.

The bed bearing my weight was a simple hammock I've gotten from the village's local leatherworker at a discounted price since it was made out of scrapped animal hide, tightly sewn together. It was tied to the planks adorning the ceiling of my house. Leaving me suspended as I sleep or lay down.

Yeahp... This is part of my life now.

How long has it been... Ah right. It has been six years now. Ever since I got ran over by a truck I started living in this world for six and a half years. Blissfully unaware of the impending doom that was about to happen soon to this village. For six years, I lived under the name of Dominic, the local healer wannabee of this place.

This village was named Cain Village. A village named after by its founder, Cain Longborne. Based on what the elders in town used to tell us, little kids. Cain Longborne was a strong retired mercenary wielding a great sword. Placed on the outskirts of the Magan Kingdom was this humble little village by the forest.

"This can't be happening..." I just couldn't believe it.

I have my fair share of knowledge about reincarnations and transmigrations thanks to extensive gameplay and reading fiction while watching animation too but...

Dear god why did you reincarnate me inside "Reverie"!!!

Reverie was the game I had just finished beta testing before I got ran over by a set of heavy wheels. Call me crazy but I didn't want to get sucked into another world like your common storyline protagonist. I was living my ideal life!

Play games and get paid for it? Check!

Have some friends and people who fill in my need for social interaction? Double Check!

Be fully independent! Living on my own with no worries or restriction and no family since they had died years ago? Triple Check!

I was content with what I had okay? No need to sent Truck-Kun over to kill me! Damn! I should've stayed away from that city after finding out one crazy dude was still driving an antique truck! It was an obvious threat flag!

"What am I even supposed to do here???" Voice quivering, I questioned myself.

My friends... My games... My apartment and all my money? What would happen to them now that I'm gone?

Scratch that. I couldn't care less about materialistic things... Elric... Elric that rash fool. And Beatrice that poor poor innocent child.

I know Elric best. It was hard for him to make friends and we've been buds for years now. A bond formed out of having each other's backs in everything! We were a duo! A dynamic duo! Need help to kill a boss? Call me bud! I'll be right there!

Hey, need a lift? I'll give you a ride in my humble car!

Got dumped by some woman? Fear not! Dominic has your back! Let's party till we get drunk!

I scratched his back and he scratched mine...

Now that I'm gone... I could picture him becoming depressed and developing a drinking habit. Embarking on the road to self-destruction.

Beatrice! The sunny little girl who loved sports. Oh Jesus! She saw me get run over by a freaking truck just to save her! She would blame herself! It would be a major traumatic event in her life that would change everything.

The four heavenly kings aren't complete without me! My friends need me!

God damn it!

Unwind! Reset! Send me back!

I don't care what happens to me but those people care about me! My death may have nothing to do to them but it would impact them greatly!

"Why does this have to happen?" I sighed...

I feel so lost... As if that time I got lost in the forest too as a child. All alone, spending the night under a tree. Cold, terrified, and hungry.

I balled up my fist and gritted my teeth. I got reincarnated inside a game. A VRMMORPG. Something others badly want but something I do not desire.

I was happy but it was taken away.

They were happy but they would be sad now that I'm gone.

It's all my fault... I shouldn't have waved at Beatrice. If not, she wouldn't have gotten distracted and the ball wouldn't have rolled down to the busy road. Resulting in her chasing it and me trading my life to save her.

In the end, it comes full circle huh?

I have only myself to blame then.

So be it.

Right now. I still cannot accept this absurd set of developments. I still cannot believe I got sucked into a game. But right now, I have to move. Man needs to move to survive. As a beta tester, I had seen a lot of things during the pre-launch gameplay of mine. And I had conversed with other beta players too. Becoming part of the beta testing community had its own fair share of rewards and new tricks to learn.

The Magan Kingdom. Cain Village.

Shit... I'm so screwed.

Bang! The door to my house flew open. Sending the hairs on my body to stand up in shock. What the hell man!

"Dominic! Dominic!" A familiar voice called out for me. It was cheerful and lively. But for some reason, I felt a bit annoyed. It carried with it faint cheekiness too. As if it came from a child about to cause mischief.

"What do you want???" I screamed. Running clambering off my hammock and stopping just before my doorstep. Over there stood a child. A child with golden silky hair. A cute face seemingly sculpted by experienced sculptors and crystal clear blue eyes that seemed to radiate with determination.

"Someone got off the wrong side of the bed today... I'll take the usual treatment! Dominic, I need healing!" The boy extended his arms forward to me. Showcasing a bunch of cuts and scars riddling his arms. But most especially, his palms looked to be swelling faintly.

I scrutinized every detail of it and sighed.

"Ray, what the hell are you doing again? This is the 36th time you presented me with wounds like this!" I was a little bit ticked off seeing how reckless this kid was.

Ah right... This child. This child was a main character. The ones who usually aspire to be the strongest swordsman or stuff like that. Those wounds actually came from training swordplay for hours and even sneaking off to the forest to kill critters with his sword. A six-year-old swinging around a long sharpened stick of metal.

That just spells trouble...

In Reverie. The VRMMORPG which was now my reality. As far as we, the beta-testers were able to gather information, we came to ask some stuff to the developers to dispel some doubts. And they indeed told us some shocking piece of news.

Across this world which was about five times bigger than earth. There are living beings that would have the characteristics of a main character. Golden fingers, unfair advantage, cheats. They come in many names but one thing was for sure. These people are freaking broken to the core. They're wandering raid bosses on their own!

They are also Main NPC's that give out special exclusive quests. If there was a main storyline then these people are major players of it.

Ray in particular...

sssss...

I sucked in a deep breath. Causing Ray to look strangely at me.

He was a tragic Main NPC. His backstory had been revealed to us by the devs themselves after we pestered them too much.

Ray's hometown would be razed to the ground by bandits. His friends killed before him while his mother would be... Nah never mind. Just thinking about it sickens me!

By the end of that tragedy. Only Ray would remain. Be sold off as a slave to a black-hearted merchant and forced to work to the bone. Doing labor that requires adults. Live bait for low-level monsters and his life would be no worse than a maltreated dog.

"Ray... How old are you again?" I asked the living calamity standing before me.

"Seven! I'm one year older than you! And I'm taller too!" He proudly patted his chest and smugly said that to me. Ah, children. Always happy to brag about some little matters to their peers.

Judging from the timeline. The village massacre fiasco was about two months away. And it was still three years before the start of the VRMMORPG "Reverie's" release. Time inside the gaming capsule can be dilated. And one year here was three months outside.

Now that got me thinking. Now that I'm an NPC of this game... Would the players still come? The devs said that players would be able to run into a ten-year-old Ray in within the outskirts and some places at the Magan Kingdom at the early parts of the game after the Official Launch.

If I wait... Will I be able to see Elric?

Never mind. I have to survive first.

"Dominic why aren't you healing me yet! It hurts you know!" Ray cried out in impatience. His blue crystal clear eyes seemingly begging me to do my magic.

Which reminds me...

Why am I not only a supporting character that would get killed and mourned by the main character. But one that has a support type class too??? What was I thinking before I woke up just now?

The script is wrong! I should be the main character!

At least you should have made me a swordsman or something! God!
