Checking through the peephole, they couldn't see anything, so Cautiously, Abdul slowly opened the door while holding his Gun, ready for whatever was on the other side.
All they found though was a passed out and sweaty Zaheer.
"Zaheer!!" Abdul yelled before rushing to pick him up and take him inside.
Carrying him to the inner room, they moved everything off the bed and tried to see what was wrong with him.
MARIAMS POV
Zaheer looked all red and feverish, i was worried something had happened to him, so i ran to the bathroom to get a bucket of water and a rag.
"Take off his Clothes" i said to Abdul, he seemed surprised for a few seconds before understanding what i wanted to do.
"Do you have any experience taking care of a sick person?" he asked stupidly
"Yes i do, now take off his clothes so i can cool him down" i ordered
With all his clothes off but his boxer, his body was on full display. Zaheer was a 6'4 man with a nice body, but he was in much better shape than the last time i'd seen him naked.
Snapping out of my daze i started cleaning his body with the wet rag, making sure to thoroughly wipe off the sweat wherever it was. His hard pecs were oddly calming to wipe.
"Go check the drug box and see if he has any fever medicine we can give him" i said to Toyin.
He only had paracetamol tablets here, and we couldn't go out right now, as there might be Eaters around. I ground two tablets and mixed it with water before making him drink it.
A few hours passed with me just cleaning his body and trying to cool him down, while his friends came to check on him every now and then.
Around 5PM he finally opened his eyes, and they were bloodshot. Hesitating I wasn't sure if it was safe to go close to him right now, but his gravelly voice that asked for water reassured me.
ZAHEER POV
My body felt like I'd been beaten up by 6 people all at once, i was sore in places I didn't even know I could be sore in(how exactly did my knees get sore??).
The last thing I remembered was climbing up the stairs back to my place, Thankfully I'd gotten home without becoming Eater food.
Looking to my side, I saw Mariam to my left. I'd woken up to her cleaning my body up so I tried to give her a smile but from the way my cheek muscles hurt, it'd probably looked more like a grimace.
To my right was only Toyin. Looking around, Abdul and Sarah were no where to be found but I had more pressing issues on my mind.
"I'm hungry, is there anything to eat?? " I said with as much energy as I could muster. My stomach felt like a black hole and I had to plug it up even though I doubted that was possible.
"Yeah I'll get you something to eat, give me a few minutes" Mariam replied before going to the kitchen.
Once she left Toyin finally couldn't hold himself back and started asking all his questions
"what happened to you man? , were you the one that made that loud roar?, why was your sleeve all torn up?, did you fight an Eater?, why did you suddenly get a fever?"
"Calm down man, I'll answer your questions later when I've eaten and rested, right now i'm still really tired and I hurt all over."
Coming back from the kitchen 10 minutes later, Mariam had a bowl of custard with her, She thought that as I just came out of the fever, semi solid foods were best. I finished it in a minute, and looked at her asking for more. She came back again with a huge plate of noodles with 2 eggs after 13 minutes, I was done in 3.
Exasperated, she just decided to cook a whole pot of fried rice for dinner.
All the food I'd eaten had given me a bit of my energy back and the black hole feeling had subsided, for now. I hardly felt like my fever just broke an hour ago.
Checking myself in the mirror I noticed a few differences, I was a size slimmer than when I left in the morning, it wasn't obvious to any one but me. I also felt a lot lighter doing some slight vertical jumps
"Maybe my Agility increased?."
My muscles were a lot more defined, I looked like a body builder, and I had pleasing aesthetics.
"phew Zaheer, you're even hotter than before",
I couldn't help being a little narcissistic.....
When the food was ready, we all came to the main room ie "The living room".
Everyone sat wherever they felt like and ate while looking at me for an explanation. When we'd all finished eating( with me getting the Lions share) I decided it was time to explain.
"Well, basically, I fought what I think is a new type Eater" i started, "It was very slender, but had muscular legs, and I'm going to call it a Speed Eater, why?, well mainly because it was able to run at extremely fast speed, it also had curved claws like a beast".
"Its charging speed was really quick as well. If you ever meet one of those out there, do not try to outrun it, if you do, you will fail and it will kill you, your best bet is to either face it head on, or try to stop it from running"
I made sure to stress the dangers of this type of monster. Toyin and Mariam seemed to understand and nodded, but Sandra and Abdul seemed a bit lost. Shaking my head I continued.
"Before I go on lets confirm an few things. After the Apocalypse started I developed an ability, something like in the movies. I get stronger from the eaters I kill. we can be somewhat sure that this is going to happen to a lot of people, because Toyin has powers of his own."
Everyone turned to look at Toyin
"I have a form. of Telekinesis" he said
Hearing this, both Sandra and Mariam were surprised but Abdul just looked to be in thought.
"I guess killing that new Eater for the first time gave me too much of a power boost, and my body was working overtime to learn how to handle it."
"If you've developed powers, raise your hands"
As expected, Toyin raised his hand, but surprisingly, so did Sandra.
"Sandra??, you've got powers?" Abdul asked the question on everyones lips.
"Yeah, i think" she replied before closing her eyes. Slowly she seemed to blend slowly out of existence.
"Invisibility" I realized.
Sandra was able to turn herself and the things she had on invisible, it was a good power that could be used well against humans although I doubted it would work well against Eaters that relied less on their sight and more on their hearing.
