After Cedric's funeral, the school gave students two weeks off to grieve and come to terms with what had happened. That was three days ago. Just sitting around the house for days was starting to get to me, so I decided to go into town.
It was a short walk being only fifteen minutes through the woods. Reaching the edge of town I could see tons of people crowded around the front gate. Walking up to a man on the outside of the large groups of people I asked. "What's going on?"
"You haven't heard? To keep spirits up around the kingdom the king is holding a tournament with the prize being fifty thousand gold, and I hear if you're a student of the mythical academy and you make it to the semifinals you get lessons with the king's mythical guard." The man said excitedly.
'This might be just what I need to take my mind off of Cedric, and it would be a good chance to see what I can really do now that my flow of magic was unblocked by that strange voice.' I thought about it for a second before deciding to participate in the tournament.
After asking around I found the registration desk. It was a small table that looked like it was put together by children, the desk sat in front of the massive arena used for plays, duels, and other events. The sign said kings tournament registration in crude handwriting and large letters.
The young girl behind the table was a pleasing sight, with beautiful aquamarine colored hair and eyes to match. Walking up to the table I grabbed one of the forms reading it over. "Are you thinking about joining the king's tournament?" She asked.
"Yeah, I'm hoping to get far enough to get lessons with the king's mythical guard," I answered politely.
"Oh, so you're a student at the academy?" She asked, seeming to perk up.
"Yes, I'm hoping to become a mythical adventurer," I told her with a kind smile.
"Well good luck, just fill out that form, prove that you're a resident of this kingdom, then all you have to do is win your practice fight so we know that you can actually protect yourself." She said with a dazzling smile.
She waited patiently while I filled out the form, turning it in I asked. "So where do I need to go for my practice fight?"
"Just go into the arena building and there will be someone in there to tell you where to go next." She told me.
I thanked her and left for my practice fight. Walking into the arena building I was struck by its beauty. Polished granite floors, marble columns that had rubies and sapphires spiraling up towards a ceiling that was impossibly high. The walls were a pristine white stone I didn't recognize, carvings of the elemental deities and depictions of the divine war covered the walls making the room that much more mesmerizing.
People buzzed around either accepting jobs from the quest board, buying tickets for the tournament, or getting ready for their practice fight to join the tournament. Standing in front of the ticket counter was another young girl, she was talking with someone and pointing down the hall I guessed she was telling him where to go for his practice fight.
Walking up to the girl I told her I was here for the tournament, "are you a participant, or are you trying to buy tickets to the event?" She asked.
"I'm joining the tournament," I assured her. She nodded and pointed down the hall to a door, "your entrance exam fight will be in that room down there." She smiled politely after giving this information. I thanked her and moved down the hallway.
The room I found myself in was barren of any decorations or furniture. The only thing in the room was a stunning woman with long blue hair and silver eyes, her skin-tight black leather suit fit her curves amazingly. "Your the next kid trying out for the tournament?" She scanned me from head to toe. Nodding I took up a fighting stance, "ha, not wasting any time are we. Fine, let's get started." She said lunging at me with impossible speed.
