Chapter 19 - Chapter 15.2

This was why human have a short lifespan.

"Fa… ther…"

'Stunned and speechless'…

They were… easy to get lonely, being betrayed, being left.

If you have a really long lifespan, you would lost your feelings, one by one. Seeing your friends got old and dying one by one when you're still as young as forever, seeing your loved one got terribly sick then died when you could never died even if you want to. You would deserted what you called 'friends', 'family', 'love', because you know that they could never be together within your long, long, long lifespan.

"… you're… not… not dead… right? Please… ugh…"

'A never-ending useless hope'…

They easily hurt, fell, then became devil, more evil than the actual devil in everyone's thought.

"I saw a devil inside you, but are you sure I'm not a devil itself when you know my real intention?"

'A warning because they had enough'…

Human were a race where they think about everything even the detail of their surroundings. Even the dirtiest detailed thought would always went on their mind, whoever, wherever, and whenever they were. This was not a mocking words, this was some fact that need tobe realized faster, quicker!

"Finish them! Don't leave even a single atrocious beast!"

'Scared'…

"Burn the witch! Burn the witch! Burn them all!"

'Abhorrence'…

"Even you could not escape a gallow, My King… serves you right, my always-cheating husband…"

'A tears of malice and a good bye'…

This was something ASAP, the human have raged war everywhere. Whatever the era was, there were always wars because human survival method getting more and more sadist. Even a life didn't matter anything to them provided they could achieve their goal. Even when their feets were drenched in crimson blood and their ears echoed with cries, they would still went and sat on the bloody, thorny, and resentful throne.

But…

There were never been an a hundred percent evil. You see? They were crying and faking their smile. Even the one who done all the mistreatment and the one who got it, could never turned into a perfect devil. The prizes of what they did would forever hunt them down in to their spine and 'end' them slowly.

Look at their majestic throne, you could see that it was full of ruefulness. Look at their seemed-happy marriage, it filled by fake smile and fights every time. Look at the glorious painting of the knights, you may not know that they cried and got insane for the mercy of souls and could never ever slept every single day because of a mission they ever and will always carry on their shoulders. You could not see it? Have you blinded by a good packaging that you forgot to see what's inside?

There were prizes for the things you did. Being betrayed and left alone, being accused for something you didn't do, even being cheat on when you really adored them. But, you, the one who got mistreatment, could never 100% hate them because deep down in your heart… there were still a little fragment of gratefulness for their existence.

"…"

"… a karma for my fault."

"A karma for betraying her…"

"A karma for cheat on her…"

'Smiled'… Those who got betrayed smiled gently.

"We will gain the karma as well for forgetting our 'mission'. So, a karma for a karma. Here and now. Live your life."

They bent down and embraced the betrayers, "We feel grateful, please find us if you still want us. Although we would not remember you, we will welcome you. Thank you and… goodbye…"

"Be a hero? What empty words you're spouting about?" A young girl with white hair glanced lazily at a young boy with dark brown hair, close to that of black color.

The boy held both his waist with an upset face, "You…! I will show you that I can become one! Just you see, Vida!" stated him then ran outside of the room full of books, study room, to the back yard which view could be clearly seen by the room.

The girl paid no heed as she glanced back to the book on her hands. She always went early in the morning only to the study room. Not the kitchen or dining room to dine or snack, the s.t.u.dy.r.o.o.m, only that old, full of books and dusts, the most boring place ever.

"…ya! Hiiya…! Hah!" That sounds repeated from the small mouth of the dark brown haired boy while swinging up and down a piece of wooden sword for practice.

The girl looking at the 'human' view at the back yard, gradually smiled with a pleased face. "I should write that this marks your very first day on wanting tobe a great hero…" She said as she scribbled on a book.

'Rudevann Anguard Coronel, a future hero, known in folk stories and have the heart of everyone.'

She wrote those words, then closed the book. She put back the books on the shelf and the other she scribbled just now in the drawer. She stretched her hand onto the drawer and casted some protection spell so that the book would not be opened by others, let alone be dirty or burned.

After that, she walked out from the room and accosted the boy. "Please let me do it too, Coco!" She said with a big smile on her face.

The boy stunned, but immediately nodded with a flustered face. "S-sure! Here, you hold the sword like this and wield it like this…"

The boy taught the girl, both of them have a great time together. Even you would not realize that maybe there was a spark of adoration and wanting tobe together. But, have you ever thought how the one who could see future feel when the future was not a great things to see?

"Hey…"

"You… have you hate me… now?"

The girl slowly spoke as she caressed the hair of a man on her lap gently. The young man with a short dark brown hair on her lap seemed 'dying' with his clothes drenched in crimson blood and his mouth coughing blood. The girl had a pale face for worrying the young man condition as she monitoring her surroundings, checking if there were any creature approaching.

"… no…" The young man slowly moved his lips. "I… never ha… te… y… you…" He coughed out blood again.

The girl hugged him closer as she afraid if the man kept trying to talk louder, it would worsened his condition. "Please… I-I'm sorry… I could not heal you or everyone else… ugh… I'm so sorry, Rudevann-sama…"

The young man slowly stretched out his right hand and patted the girl's hair, "You… don't have to… apologize…" He paused for a few seconds. "I have a pleasant life… with you being here. So… don't feel apologetic… Vida…"

The girl flinched as the man said 'Vida', her name, that no one would even care. A name where even history did not add after her big contributions. A mere name that never known existed along the journey of the legendary hero, Rudevann.

Vida held the man's hand that moved to caressed her right cheek. "Rudevann-sama, please… don't leave me… I love you… I could not live without you…" Tears flowing down to her cheeks.

The man gently smiled, "Thank… you… I thought… only I have that feeling… Vida…" The man paused again as he took a breath, "Call me… the name as you always do… when we're young…"

Vida gradually smiled as the tears keep flowing, "Coco, I love you!" She said with a cheerful teary face and gentle voice.

The man smiled, "I love you too… Vida…"

His voice gradually became weaker as his breath slowly stopped. The warmth of his body gradually left him. A cold body and pale face in the girl's embrace looked like sleeping with a gentle smile on the face.

Vida could not utter any word, she carefully laid down the man's body and covered the body with a piece of red cloth from her magic. She pulled up the long cloth from the toe to chest and paused.

She closed up to the face and said, "Goodnight, Coco." She left a gentle kiss on the forehead as she gently patted the man's hair and pulled the cloth to cover the face.

She stood up and walked away to the outside. She paused as she turned her back to the inside of the cave with a lot of blue crystal faintly radiated. "See you in the future, Coco… no, Hero-sama."

She bowed a little bit, then went out to the outside and sealed the cave entrance with a protection magic so none of the dangerous creatures could damage what's inside.

Click…

"Now you could take this body, My Lady." Vida said as she stood right in front of the sealed cave entrance.

As Vida said those words, a figure of a young lady gradually appeared. The figure enveloped by bright lights as Vida could not see how the face was. Vida kneeled with her left knee on earth as the figure approached her.

"Are you sure there are no regret?" The voice was clear and as if it was sent into the mind directly.

The girl, Vida, smiled as she lifted her head and face the figure in front of her. "I have no more regret, My Lady."

Vida could feel that the figure smiled and bent down a little to reach Vida's head. "Well done, you will live as another part of my soul. You would have your memories and good life, but you would face a terrible pain every time you thought of all kind of memories, what do you say?"

Vida, once again, smiled. "It does not matter. If it means I could meet him once more, then being alive is already a luxury for me."

The figure stunned a bit as she thought Vida would decline, but gradually smiled, then nodded. "You will meet my brothers and sisters, cherish them as you cherish your beloved. I will erase your man's memories, if he could find you within me… then I will give you one life to venture."

"I heed your command."

A very bright light, that could blind someone who try to peek, enveloped them. "Then, I accept your wish, my dear, Vida."

Something would become precious if you thought it so. It was the same as something useless, worthless, everything was depended on what you thought it would be. The same rule applied to the life, what or who you thought was a worthless, good-for-nothing, might be the best thing or person you ever met. So, opened up your heart, looked not with your eyes or decided by first impression, but felt it with your feelings and experiences with them.

Hoped that you would had a happy ending. Just like how the fairytales ended. So, you would not ever need tobe a devil to kill the devil in your eyes.
