Well, things certainly went fast.
I can't help but wonder how I got into a situation like this. Imagine, you're minding your own business, hunting some monsters, raising your level when all of a sudden a dragon attacks you.
They then proceed to explain that they aren't here to kill you, but instead make you a master. And make it a 𝕝𝕖𝕘𝕖𝕟𝕕𝕒𝕣𝕪, named dragon. Dragons are rare on their own, but make them named, legendary and want to be your pet? It breaks all logic I know right now.
You have to know that named beasts are at least two times more powerful than their original counterparts. It's not because someone gave them a name though. If I randomly call a monster a name, let's say 'Randy', absolutely nothing will happen unless that monster is my pet, or has intelligence and wants me to name it.
Named beasts usually appear when there's a lot of magic around the area, which usually are either in lakes with magic-filled water, or caves with magic build-up, those places. The names are only how the world system allows us to differentiate stronger monsters from their usual counterparts. We humans are named from birth though, that's why we're quite strong as well.
Now, another thing about 'Kiko' is the fact that he also has a title. Kiko's title, the 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐨𝐬 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐠𝐨𝐧, based on my knowledge, is one of the few legendary dragons that have extremely huge powers. The Chaos Dragon, is obviously related with chaos, making it the strongest dragon out of all the legendary beasts, which makes him the strongest legendary beast.
Titles are awarded to people by the world system if they do something that achieves the system's requirements for any certain title. If, for example, you save a whole nation, even if you didn't mean it, you may get the 'Hero' title. Titles usually come with special effects, whether it be status boosts or equipment. Depending on the title, the rewards may also be negative.
For example, if you, even just accidentally or indirectly, cause the demise of a huge group of people, whether it be a city or a nation, you can get a negative title such as the 'Enemy of All' title. Leaders of huge bandit groups, or even anyone evil enough usually always have that title. Titles can also come with birth. A prince of a kingdom may gain the title 'Prince of (kingdom)' immediately after birth.
Anyways, back to the point.
A 𝕝𝕖𝕘𝕖𝕟𝕕𝕒𝕣𝕪, 𝕟𝕒𝕞𝕖𝕕, 𝕥𝕚𝕥𝕝𝕖𝕕, dragon wants me, a normal human, to make a contract with it, apparently.
"Exactly, yes."
"But why me?"
"Well, a journey of a thousand miles starts with one step. To make you strong enough for the fated day, we're going to have to make a contract so I can help you get stronger."
Fated day? What's he talking about?
"You'll know soon enough."
I'm not dumb, it probably means I'm going to save the world or something. That's probably related as to how I got this skill.
"You're smart enough that you can think that far. In my whole life, you're impressively intelligent compared to those I've met so far."
So, let me confirm this, you really want me to make a contract with you?
"Sounds hard to believe, but yes."
Then let's get started, so I can wake up from this bad dream.
"Personally, if I were a human, I'd think making a contract with someone like me would be extraordinary."
"Yes, yes, let's get started already."
"So you're going to need all these materials to make the magic circle."
Kiko proceeded to list a whole ton of materials through telepathy. It was a lot, yes, but it was surprisingly common. I can probably achieve all of this tommorow.
"Yes, it's only a lot because I'm huge."
"Anyways, you need to hide somewhere for now, nobody must see you or the whole nation will be in a panic."
"Yes, I already have a plan for that. Anyways, we'll meet here tomorrow afternoon, around sunset."
"Why sunset? I can get the materials by morning though."
"You'll see once you run home."
I have no idea what he's talking about, but I said goodbye and ran home. I reached town gate and met Marie strolling around town when suddenly...
I fainted.
"..."
I'm an idiot, even if I did nothing, Limit-Break was turned on the whole time I talked to Kiko. He probably knew that I was going to faint due to the skill.
Luckily, I only woke up an hour or two later than I usually wake up. Marie thought I fainted from the heat so I luckily didn't have to find a way out to explain the skill to her. Although, I did get a lecture about having to keep myself safe against the heat...
Anyways, I had enough time to buy all the materials, so I did. Most of the materials I had to buy were pigments and paints, because I was going to make a magic circle for the contract. The most expensive one was a thing called magic dust. It's quite common but a bit more expensive than usual market items due to the demand, since it usually is used for contracts and magic circles.
After a couple of hours, Kiko arrived at the agreed location. He's incredibly huge, so I'm surprised nobody's talking about seeing a dragon from the city yet.
"Are you prepared?"
"Yeah, I'm ready."
"Good, now make this magic circle."
He flashed a huge magic circle into my mind through telepathy. I guess because he is huge, we need to have a huge magic cricket as well.
After an hour of hard work, I finished the magic circle. It's basically a star inside a circle with weird symbols in the areas not occupied by the star inside the circle.
After finishing, I sprinkled magic dust all over the circle. After sprinkling the dust all over the circle, it glowed. It was actually very nice to look at.
Kiko stepped in the circle afterwards.
"Now, I need you to make a smaller circle of the same design a few meters away from mine with the remaining materials."
This was a lot of hard work, but if I'm going to get a legendary dragon familiar, then it's all worth it, so I finished the circle quickly with this thought in my mind.
"Now step inside the smaller circle."
"Sure."
"We're going to start now. I didn't tell you this at the start because you might decline, but this'll hurt a little."
"As long as it's not that painful, I can mana-"
"AAAAAAAAAAAHHGGGGSSSSSSS-"
And that's how I got a legendary dragon familiar.
