Right, so these are the details I have so far:
1. I have no idea where I am.
2. Bombs are exploding everywhere.
3. I smell and hear ammunition shells as they drop to the ground.
Why am I so calm you ask? Well there are a lot of things that are scarier than death in a battlefield. One of which is boredom in the classroom. Another is the unsurety of where your life will go. Oh, and also, the fickleness of everything around you. Everything else is terrifying, except death.
I am currently inside a trench made for war. I won't be hit by bullets here as long as I don't get out. My only problem would be explosives but I'll deal with that when it comes.
I need to look at this situation clearly now. There are buildings that have collapsed which surround us. The sky is a dark red with all the flames scattered around the battlefield. Different war machineries fly in the sky and I even hear some roaming on the ground. Yet, strangely, there is not a single dead body here.
This is simply absurd. With all that is going on, one would at least expect a couple dozen corpses. Yet, as far as my eyes can see there is none. Not a single corpse. Okay lets add all the details now.
One is that, this is a warzone, or so it seems. Second however, is that there are no dead bodies; making the first statement seem illogical.
All my senses tell me that everything out here is real. But all the greatest philosophers would always mention how the senses could deceive a person very easily. If that is what this is, then, lets test things out.
I climbed out of the trench and tried getting hit by the bullets. As soon as I did this, a bullet grazed my cheek making me head back down.
"Ahh f**k that hurts." I touched the wound and felt liquid going out of my skin, that must be my blood. Guess I'm officially a soldier now. I know getting grazed by a bullet is nothing to brag about but hey, I can make stuff up and they'd just buy it anyway.
"Right then, so this isn't a hologram." I said to myself, checking out the first possibility. This isn't a hologram yet there are no dead bodies.
"This is really exciting, I haven't used my brain in a long time." I said to myself thinking of the other possibilities. But before I can even cook up a new idea, a grenade fell right in front of me.
"Well, I guess this is how I'll die." I said as I closed my eyes. This is followed by a blinding flash of light and a long silence.
"…"
"…"
"…"
"What the hell?" I'm now back at the boring office of Ali. She's still very much unconscious and lying on the ground though. I touched one of her boobs just to make sure that everything is real.
"Ohh they're still soft. Hmm they're a bit saggy now, she's probably tired from all the work."
I know what you're thinking:
"Kyaaa~ Quinn is such a pervert!"
Right?
Sick mindless apes.
A real man of intellect must confirm things through tests. If I am unsure of reality, then I must use a sample which will not betray me.
I have fondled Ali's breasts for as long as I can remember. The depth of my fingers in that soft bouncy wonderland would never betray me! Yes, thank you Ali for confirming my assumptions. This is reality!
Oh what's that? I could have used the wound on my cheek as a test? Nah. That's too boring. But hey, it is here.
The wound stings but it isn't as painful as the moment when my skin was cut open. Right now, all I know is that my body was transported somewhere. Probably because of that crown's morse code. But that is just too farfetched. The details are incomplete. I need to do more research on this.
"Hmmm?"
The sound came from Ali. She's finally coming back to her senses. Honestly, she looks more like a model than a scientist. She's British, with blonde hair but not the stupid kind of blonde you stereotypes are thinking of. She's the type of blonde who actually does well intellectually, though she's still no match for me.
She's a bit taller than I am. Standing at 5'9 feet in height. She has long slender legs which makes her seem taller than she already is. Her eyes are a crystal-clear blue matched with long and curling eyelashes. Her eyes are also strict looking which is really good for the Sadism and Masochism stuff. Anyway, she wears the same boring lab coat that all researchers and scientists wear. But under that is a white elegant button - down polo with small floral prints of both pink and yellow colors. Her skirt is a thight gray with black stockings covering her legs.
"Rise and shine Goldilocks." Her eyes are squinting, trying to figure out who is in front or her.
"Oh its you." She said in an anti-climatic tone.
"Are you done fondling my breasts already?"
"Yeah I did that seconds ago." I told her. The fun thing about Ali is that she's always cool with whatever I do to her. That is, as long as I contribute to her research. She's the type who just thinks of those gigantic mountains as lumps of fat.
"So have you found out anything yet."
"I might." I told her.
"Can we use the security room? I need to see some footage of what happened here."
"Why? It hasn't been that long since I fainted right?"
"Yeah but something else might have happened." I replied.
"Hmnmmm. Well if it helps with the research then fine by me."
"Thanks." I said.
"That's weird, you don't usually have a real smile on your face." She replied.
"Well, I might have encountered the first real problem I've had in decades. I can't wait to crack everything down." I answered all jittery.
We went on our way to the security room. The elevator opened and I though about how the name "elevator" might actually be appropriate. I mean it does still lift you up after you went to a level beyond the ground building. Hmmm…well the negative numbering is still a nice idea.
[Scan complete. Welcome back Professor Alice. Which level would you like to descend to?]
"Ground Floor."
[Now ascending, please hold on to the rails provided at the side of the machine as we proceed.]
The machine proceeded in taking us to the surface. Since the elevator is basically transparent glass, I can see everything outside. All these people work for a certain goal but until now, I'm not sure what it is exactly. It's not like unravelling random things about the past can give us a better future. They should have devoted all this money in creating new technology rather than digging up random pieces of the past. But hey, they're paying me so I have nothing to complain about.
When the door opened, we are already in the ground floor.
"Back so soon?" One of the researchers said.
"Yeah, well the things we need are in the security room." I said smiling.
"…"
"I wonder how you can be so kind with everyone here except me." Ali said after we have walked a little distance away form that researcher.
"Hmm nothing special. I do feel more comfortable around you. That's the reason I can be so mean with both you and your body."
"I think that's a compliment but I'm not sure how I can take that positively." Ali said.
The door to the security room opened after Alice used her identification device. Everything here opens that way. Alice is the main boss so all doors open to her. If you think about it, that's also a way for people to know how high your ranking is. The more levels you have access to, the greater your position and usefulness must be to the organization.
"Hey Bill." I said to the man watching the surveillance monitors.
"Hey guys." He replied.
"We just need to see some footage on the 90th floor. Can you show us where it is?" I asked.
"Sure thing. Anything for my favorite big brained high schooler." He said jokingly.
"That's disgusting man, stop calling me that." I replied.
He then began playing the tapes and I am soon at the part where I entered the room. I went over the sleeping body of Ali, and proceeded to the crown. After that…nothing. Next came my fondling session with Ali, but in the middle of those events there is nothing peculiar.
I am just standing there. Staring at the crown for a few seconds but I never disappeared.
"This is so crazy."
"I know right? How can you fondle the breasts of a person who fainted just like that."
"No not that!" I said.
I touched the wound and sure enough it is still there. The smile in my face widened even more. Then I remembered the message on the crown.
"Whoever decodes this message will rule the world." I said to myself.
"Whoever did this. I'm gonna crack open your mystery."
