Chapter 55 - Now I learn The Truth

Kenshin regained consciousness and quickly sat up. As he looked around, he saw that he was no longer at the townhall. Instead, he was on a hospital bed.

'A hospital?'

He was able to recall the scene from before he passed out but only vaguely. Just before Thomas was about to finish him off, Kenshin remembers someone interfering. It was someone who he had seen before, but he wasn't able to get a good look at the person's face as his vision was blurry.

'Who was it?'

That was when the hostages and Nari came to mind.

'What happened to them? Did they survive?'

Right as he was about to stand from the bed, a man who wore a grey-suit walked in.

"Slow down there. You should take it easy."

The man didn't look familiar at all, causing Kenshin to question.

"Who are you?"

"Me? I'm a detective." The man replied.

"A detective?" Kneshin asked.

" That's right. I'm working with a couple other detectives to gather information on the attacks. Today, I'm here to ask a couple questions if that's okay with you."

Relaxing his muscles, Kenshin laid back down.

"That's fine. But, I'd like to know what happened to Nari and the hostage."

"No need to worry. The hostages were freed and Nari regained consciousness when other adventures arrived at the scene."

Which led to the true mystery. The detective continued and took a seat.

"Speaking of which, when we arrived there were no enemies in sight. You and Nari were the only ones there. I already asked her side of the story but it seems she lost consciousness before you. So, would you mind telling me what you remember?"

Kenshin went on to explain the events of the fight that took place leading up to him passing out.

"When Thomas caught up to me, he nearly killed me. Then when I was beginning to pass out, I remember someone showing up to face him and the other enemies."

It was strange as the detective couldn't remember anyone saying they arrived at the time.

"Someone showed up? No adventures called this in. Did you see who it was?"

Kenshin shook his head.

"My vision was too blurry. I couldn't see their face."

The detective continued writing down each piece of info.

'Hm. So there was someone else there besides the terrorists from organization X. But who? A vigilante?' he thought to himself.

The detective then stood from his seat.

"Thank you for cooperating. It's time I take my leave."

"No problem." Kenshin replied.

After saving Jill the other day. The other adventurers along with Sora had killed most of the monsters roaming around. The bad news was that over one-hundred lives were lost that day, along with the adventurers killed by Arisa in Merit's town hall.

Katsuya sat back, taking a sip of tea as he thought.

'It's been too many issues lately. I'm honestly getting tired of it. I don't need to work for a while, I have enough money to pay the medical bills for months.'

He thought about taking a vacation along with Jill and the others. But where? There wasn't really a place Katsuya had a strong desire to go. Not in this world, at least.

He jumped out of his seat.

"That's it. What if I could go see the alternate world? All I would need to do is get authorization from a guild and boom, I would be able to go."

Sora walked out of the hallway with a towel on her head, barely being done with a shower.

"Why do you want to go to the alternate world? Not much besides the medieval vibe."

"You were listening in on my thoughts again??" Katsuya asked.

"It's pretty much my job to know what my owner is thinking. How else would I be able to assist you with anything."

"Fair point but, don't call me your owner. It makes it sound like you're my pet."

Sora shook her head, just before slumping over onto the couch in laziness.

"I'm going to just take a nap. Call on me if you need anything."

Almost upon closing her eyes, she had fallen dead asleep.

'And she's out. I wish I could fall asleep that fast.'

Later on, Katsuya had his ideas about the trip settled. So, he made multiple phone-calls, talking the matter over with Jill, Hector, Umar, Amir and Casey.

To his surprise, each of them agreed pretty easily as a trip to the alternate world was difficult to get. Katsuya hadn't set up the vacation just yet, but because he didn't plan to go until a couple months later, he figured there was still time to set everything up. Until then, he wanted to stack up lots of money for spending on unique things from that world.

'I guess clearing a few dungeons until they should make enough.'

He checked the balance in his bank account.

{Balance: 1,456,900}

It was more than enough for spending but he only dedicated the current amount for important things.

'I want to make at least a couple hundred-thousand for the trip.'

But before he even cleared any more dungeons, he wanted to set up an appointment with the guild to authorization for the trip.

The Sun was beginning to set. Hades approached an ugly and ruined yard of an abandoned, unstable-house. This was the very place he used to live along with his family, until one-fateful day.

As he walked inside, he immediately noticed the floorboards being all broken through the house and the walls even had many holes in them.

It looked nothing like how he remembered it but, he still felt the warmth in his heart knowing this was the place he and his family shared and loved.

Hades kneeled down, softly touching the floor, closing his eyes.

He thought back on that day things went bad. Then, Hades had only just retired from work, only to see police blocking off the area to his home with yellow tape. Immediately, he did what any other father would do, he tried to rush in to see what had happened but, police immediately drew their guns on him. Hades was powerful so he had no worry about the weapons and ignored them. Instead, he was more worried about the well-being of his family as he easily rushed past the many officers. That was when a powerful woman came from behind and slammed him to the floor, restraining him. Hades tried restiting with all his might. In the end, whoever was holding him down was far stronger.

The woman spoke loud and firmly.

"I am Harley Vale. You, Hades Campos, are under arrest for the murder of your wife, your son and your two daughters."

Hades felt his heart drop and emptiness filled his mind. He understood what was being said but still couldn't fully comprehend it. It felt like a lie. It felt like it just wasn't real.

'No....'

Rather than focusing on what he was being accused of, his mind flew on the fact that his family was deceased.

Harley Vale roughly lifted him from the ground, having Hades with both hands behind.

"Acting shocked won't save you. The camera footage has been reviewed. Being a limit-breaker, you are to be locked away in a maximum security prison upon capture. Now, I will put you to sleep."

Fwsh.

After that, Hades was knocked unconscious.

Present….

"Fake footage, huh. It had everyone fooled, while I was wrongfully locked away."

Taking a couple skype forward, Hades had a fierce look in his eyes.

"Today, I learn who was behind the murder of my family."

['Past Sight' has activated]

A sudden burst of air boomed all around, silently. And In the blink of any eye, everything around, along with his home looked exactly how it did years and years ago.
