Chapter 32 - Is The Calamity Really A Calamity?

Katsuya was now face to face with the calamity. If no-one was here to stop creatures like these, the world would have perished 5 years ago. Capable of moving at speeds faster than light, it was truly a disaster in a small form.

It was a type of creature called a 'dark demigod'

It's had blood-red armor all over its body with a long white cape. It appeared to be taking the shape of a human with black hair and eyes as white as snow. If a rank above Legendary existed, the demigod would be in that upper category. There was a rather emotionless expression on its face as it stared into the depth of Katsuya's soul.

"This isn't going to be an easy task," Katsuya thought to himself as he watched the demigod's stats come into view.

{Dark Demigod:

Level: ???

Hp: 118,000,000 | Intelligence: 190 | Defense: 50,000 | Mp: ???

Atk: 10,000,000 | Speed: 3,400 | Endurance: 11,567

Skills: Devour, Spell Absorb, Copycat, Life Steal, Corruption, Manipulation, Reality Marble, Spirit Animal, Future sight,}

Katsuya knew how strong legendary bosses could be but, those stats were unlike anything he had even come across. And the skill it had, some of them were unheard of. The dark demogo's mere presence was enough to shake Katsuya to the core. He smiled to hide his fear while there was no reaction from the creature.

"So, are you able to talk like most of the stronger monsters here?" Katsuya asked.

"Yes, I am. And you are a human? No, you're a monster as well, I suppose. What is your business here?" The demigod asked.

This tone from such a human-like disaster was not expected. Its voice was calm and showed no sign of hostility whatsoever. To be more specific, it sounded like all it wanted was to have a conversation.

"I'm here to clear this dungeon and kill every floor boss, getting stronger in the process. That is my business here."

The human shaped demigod slightly tilted its head to the side and it replied with the same calm tone.

"Ah, could you be any more obvious? What I meant was, why do you wish to do so, what drives you?"

"That's none of your business. I'll be having to kill you either way ,so it doesn't really matter. Does it?"

The demigod showed the first sign of emotion as it showed a barely noticeable smile.

"Oh, come on, don't be like that."

[Warning: Opponent has activated 'Reality Marble']

The texture of the room around them was suddenly changed. Once a room was now a piece of land filled with snow that spread out for miles in each direction. A red throne appeared and the demigod sat down onto it with a relaxed posture. Just like before, the demigods emotion went back to being blank.

"Go ahead, have a seat."

"Huh? What do you mean?" Katsuya asked. He looked behind him as a bright-red couch appeared.

Being surprised, he sat down, muttering "Oh."

Leaning forward in his throne, the dark energy being spoke with interest.

"What would you like to talk about?"

Katsuya didn't have any intention of having a lengthy conversation, he didn't even want to have any kind of dialogue. He only wanted to get the fight over with but a question did strike his thoughts. Why was the Dark Demigod not being hostile?

So, Katsuya went on to ask "You're a dark demigod, a kind of creature that brings death and calamity. So, why the hell would you choose to talk instead of fight? You don't add up."

The emotion of surprise showed onto the dark beings eyes. It then let out a sigh.

"That is a good question, I suppose. You see, not all beings are created equally. There are some among your race that like to kill and there are some who like peace. Most of us dark demigods like to cause disaster and bring death to life. But,I suppose that I'm among the few that are different, the ones who are too lazy to do such a thing, the ones that see no point in the killing process. I have been around for the span of five-thousand years and yet, I've had no pleasure in bringing death. I can't say that I've never killed but, I can say I have never taken a liking in doing so."

Every sentence that was spoken from the living calamity had brought confusion and disbelief to Katsuya's mind. It just wasn;t like a monster to be non-hostile, the demigod had to have at least some intent to kill.

"That can't be true. You're a dark demigod. I refuse to believe any talk of peace coming from your mouth."

The words he spoke brought disappointment to the Dark Demigod's face. But, the being understood his reason for not believing.

"Ah, I understand. If I was in your place, I probably wouldn't have believed myself either. You have a right to feel the way that you do, I suppose."

For an odd reason, a fire sparked inside of Katsuya's soul. There was one thing one his mind, and that was slaughtering monsters. Though it looked human, it was still a monster, none the less. His hand reached to his back pocket and slowly pulled out his purple bladed knife. It shined brightly from the sun's light. With his hand tightly gripping the handle, he sprinted forward.

"Enough talking. It's time for me to clear this floor."

[You have activated 2 skills: Double Speed, Triple Speed]

{Current Speed: 7,326}

His speed was incredibly fast. So fast that it caused the wind to shake and melt the snow he passed by.

One Purple light followed the swing of his knife as it pierced the red armor, stabbing into the demigods chest.

Crack.

Shink.

Katsuya's glaring eyes looked at the demigod face, only to see its emotionless face staring right back.

"Oh? That wasn't very nice of you. Young one, if your aim is to kill, then aim for the head."

{Dark Demigod: Hp: 115,761,144/118,000,000}

The attack had done a high number of damage but, compared to the demigod's health, it was nothing.

Katsuya firmly pulled the knife from it's chest then swung it toward its face.

A red-bladed sword appeared into the demigods hands then with ease it completely stopped the knife, creating a trail of sparks.

Ting.

Sliding back, Katsuya took his knife with him.

"How did you block that?"

"Hmm. Well, I just lifted my sword."

"That's not what I meant, and where did you even get a sword from?!"

"Ohhh. I just created it. It's pretty durable if I do say so myself. Made from my own magic."

Katsuya's hand wrapped around his knife's handle and held it with all his might. He wasn't planning on wasting another seconds, he wanted to strike while the dark being was off guard. And so, he took a step forward but stopped when the demigod calmly put his hand forward, signaling for him to stop.

"Aww, you didn't let me finish. Why do you want to fight me so bad? I just want to relax and have a normal conversation. Is this setting not calming for you. Here, I can change it."

The demigod held its middle finger and thumb together then…

Snap.

The area around changed. It was no longer a land full of snow. Instead, a wooden cabin wall surrounded them. There was a lit fireplace and nice soft red-pillowed couches, next to a comfortable rocking chair. There was an open glass window and Katsuya could hear the sound of water falling from the sky, down to the ground. He knew it was rain as the smell found its way up his nose.

The demigod walked over and sat down on the rocking chair, leaning back and forth.

"Go ahead, have a seat."

Katsuya's Muscles were tense and he was hesitant to have a seat but the calming atmosphere got to him; He sat his bottom onto the soft warmth of the couch.

"Why do you keep insisting to talk, even after I attacked you?"

"I do believe I had already answered that question. I am different from most demigods. Instead of killing and creating disasters, I'd rather enjoy the peace and quiet of the realityI can create. And if a big enough threat showed itself, I too would reveal myself and help humanity with eliminating the threat."

It was a lot to believe considering it was all coming from a dark being, a dark demigod. But, Katsuya felt just a little trust because of the fact that the being could easily shift reality to its will. It could keep up with Katsuya's speed after when he had activated both [Double Speed] and [Triple Speed]

That all on its own was incredible considering Katsuya'aspeed was '7,326'

Which was just a little over 7 times the speed of light, though it wasn't all that impressive considering that most of the top rankers could move that fast at top speed. So to sum it up, he believed that the being could have killed him with a mid-diff effort.

"So, what exactly are you?"

"I am actually half human and half dark god. A was made from a human woman and a dark god. Dark gods themselves aren't anything close to human. They're basically just elite spirits that were corrupted. And yes, light god's do exist. Then there's the one above all, the one who created everything in existence, the one who had always existed even before time itself. I suppose you already know the entity I'm referring to, don't you?"

"God, right?"

"That is correct. It is the one who can do anything or create anything. Though, it usually does not interfere with human life unless a prayer is spoken toward him. That is when he will get involved."

Katsuya stood back up and walked over to the window, feeling the cold weather from the rain.

"So, what's the point of our conversation?"

"There really is no point, I suppose. I just felt like awakening your knowledge. There's something you should know. I'm not the last boss."

Katsuya quickly turned around, knowing that this was the 100th floor. Meaning that this should've been the final floor.

"You're not?"

The being shook its head from side to side.

"I am not. In total, there are two-hundred floors. And each boss will be even more powerful than me. If you wish to clear all two-hundred floors, you have a long way to go."

There was a sound of a snap; in an instant, the setting changed and they were back in the original boss room.

"I guess I should wait on attempting the higher floors." said Katsuya.

Step...Step...Step…

The demigod walked over and stared into Katsuyas eyes all while showing no emotion. The beings' eyes shone ever so brightly then went back to their original color.

"Ah, I see. So that's the kind of person you are. Despite becoming half monster, you have a kind heart."

"W-What did you do?" Katsuya asked.

"No need to panic. I didn't do anything harmful."

The demigod placed it's hand onto Katsuya's shoulder and spoke once more.

"You better hurry.Do you wish to leave now?"

"I guess. But, hurry where?"

"You'll know when you're out of here."

A yellow golden haze covered Katsuya's body. He blinked and when he opened his eyes, he knew that he was no longer in the dungeon but its entrance.

(Progressive Dungeon Entrance)

Still finding all that had happened a bit hard to believe he asked a question to Sora.

"Sora, did I really just have a lengthy talk with a non-hostile dark demigod?"

"Yes, you really did. From what I gathered, he said you had somewhere to be?" She replied.

Buzz. Buzz.

"Not from what I know.I don't remember making any plans." The phone in his pocket vibrated, catching his full attention as he pulled it out.

"Huh? Wonder who texted."

When he looked at the screen, his [Sixth Sense] made him feel that something wasn't right?

{Jill: Me and some members from our party are heading to a B-rank dungeon. I would like it if You came along as well. P.S be sure to text back fast, we're going to leave in about an hour.}

"Maybe...I should go check on them."

But how would he know which dungeon they were at?
