Around 12 in the afternoon, Mr. and Mrs.Smith reached Brighton, a seaside resort in the county of East Sussex.
On the two hours journey, Sasha kept on looking at the beautiful scenery of the city, Sussex which is famous for its strong tradition of bonfire celebrations and its proud musical heritage.
The drive from London to Brighton took the couple from one of the busiest cities in the world to a colourful, cosmopolitan and charming south coast seaside resort.
En route, Sasha gawked several picturesque parts of southern England by building in scenic detours, although it was not her first time visiting here but as she could not remember anything, whatever she saw made her feel fascinated about the sceneries.
As people say, 'Begin in a part of London, you consider scenic. London is a very large city with many different areas. No matter what your definition of scenic, London will have a scenic starting point to suit you.'
She kept on staring at the beautiful sceneries across the highway route with shocked and curious eyes. 'Is it the country in which I am living? It is so beautiful!'
She could not help but feel something to be stuck in his throat. Suddenly, tears clouded her eyes and a drop fell on the back of her clenched hand. Suddenly, Aaric turned his neck to look at her. When he saw her pale face, he thought she might be in pain or these scenery might have triggered any past memory of her. He quickly turned the steering wheel on the left side and parked the car at the corner of the road. He quickly took a water bottle from the back seat and gave it to her.
When Sasha lifted her head, she glanced at the bottle in front of her and then shifted her eyes on the person sitting beside her, who was looking at her with a worried and concerned face. 'I have such a caring and loving husband. I don't remember him either. What I did in my past lives that I have to face these things in this lifetime?' She silently thought to herself with intense regret and pain.
When Aaric noticed that she was staring at him without even averting or blinking her eyes, he became much more confused and worried. He felt that he should straight away dial Alleyn's number. Without wasting another second, Aaric took out his phone from his pocket and was just about to dial Alleyn's number but suddenly Sasha stopped him. Aaric looked down on the soft hand which stopped him.
Sasha quickly pulled her hand back and explained to him that she is fine.
"Please, don't worry. I am fine. I was just feeling sad, nothing else."
Hearing her response made Aaric feel bad. He thought that she was talking about the trip which he planned suddenly.
"If you don't feel comfortable going on this trip, I will take a turn. Be free." As soon as she heard Aaric's tender voice, the pain that clutched her chest suddenly started to disappear. She was feeling better.
"No it is not about the trip. It's just… just that I don't know anything. I don't remember even a single thread of memory. These things… are just making me restless and hopeless. Sometimes I just think that why didn't I died…"
"Hey, please. Don't say that. You don't know how difficult your surgery was. Those hours were like years to me. Please don't ever speak about dying. It is already a blessing for me and for both of us that after facing those things you are still sitting in front of me alive."
" No. It would have been better if I would have died. At least rather than living such a life where I don't even remember about my husband."
When Aaric heard the main reason behind her anguish, he fell into a dilemma that whether he should be happy about the fact that she showed feelings for him, she was concerned for him or he should be feeling bad because she felt bad. But still he tried his best to console her in her despair.
"Why are you feeling so down? Don't you remember what Alleyn said last night, huh? Tell me."
"I do remember but still… Okay. You tell me. If you would have been at my place, how would you have felt if you could not remember about me, about us?"
Without any hesitation, without thinking twice Aaric again said something which he regretted later.
"Well, I will ask her to tell me everything about 'us'."
Aaric coughed awkwardly when he realised that it was too early to talk to her this way. He was too embarrassed to look at her so he quietly averted his eyes and stared ahead.
There was dead silence in the car. Then suddenly Aaric's gaze fell on to a restaurant on the next turn of the road. He quickly turned his neck towards her and directed her towards the direction of the restaurant.
"You must be hungry by now. We did not had our breakfast properly so let's eat there. It seems to be a newly opened restaurant."
The moment Sasha heard his voice, she looked at him before shifting her eyes at the direction where he was looking at.
After thinking for a few seconds, she agreed. 'Even if I am not feeling hungry, he must be. He is driving continuously for one hour. He could rest in that mean time too.'
"Alright, we can go."
