"Who wants to go next" the teacher intoned, almost bored.
Just now, one of their peers had his face mauled, Alexander had expected this to frighten off some hands, but no such thing happened. The demons who had raised their hands before did so again.
In demon society there is a paradigm between demons, there were demons and sub-demons. The group you belonged in depended simply on your magical strength, in other words bloodline. If you were over a certain limit, you would be expected to act arrogant and strong whilst if you were under it the opposite was expected of you.
Alexander looked around the group and realised that the demons who had not raised their hands were eyeing the ground and had a slouched back. The ostracization they had gone through had brought them to this point. The teacher pointed towards one of those who held his hand high.
The demon was taller and walked with more pride than the last one. Whilst the last one exuded confidence, the confidence this one exuded felt more authentic.
The battle was similar to the last one. The Mongolite was stagnant and growled at the demon, the demon walked up in a relaxed tempo with his arms hanging. The Mongolite abruptly pounced on him once he was in range, the demon swiftly brought his hands up and released a scorching ball of flame. The force exuded was a whole lot stronger than the last one. Alexander felt heat brush up against his skin.
The Mongolite flew backwards, it was now a few meters away from the demon. Its fur had lit up and burned, it released a pain-filled shriek which echoed throughout the room. Alexander could feel some empathy towards the creature since he had gone through a similar fate. It started viciously rolling around on the floor trying to lose the fire. By the end, there was no fire, but its hair had been burned off and its skin was crisp and filled with burned spots.
The mongolite attitude completely changed. Tears rolled down its chin and it hid behind its gruesomely burned hands.. It started cowering in front of the demon. The demon walked towards the creature, if he had pockets his hands would be in them.
The second he was within range, it changed its attitude drastically, and returned to its former savage self. It leapt onto the demon trying to catch him off guard. Once again the demon brought his hands forward. He went overboard and released all his energy into a flame attack completely over-killing the Mongolite. The creature flew away and landed on it's back, it lay there with its eyes losing all colour.
The teacher who had been face-palming and scowling all this time uttered.
"You complete dounce"
"How dare you go so casually on it? Do you want to die? "
The student raised both his shoulders, essentially saying a nonchalant "ehh"
"let's see if you can take this task as nonchalantly"
The cages in the back of the room all opened, out of them flew three Mongolites. Each one landed at roughly the same place, a fair distance away from the group. The teacher asked the student to kill them.
The cages themselves didn't house Mongolites, they were magical in nature. The cages could create any creature within its size and the creator could alter the creatures mood or needs. The Mongolites had been created really hungry.
The student casually walked towards the Mongolites, however, this time they were moving towards him at a steady pace instead of growling. Once they had gotten in distance, the student took out his hands and released a full blast. Alexander saw the teacher cringing.
There was not a single Mongolite which had been repelled or even hit, because they had not approached him. They had just been probing their prey. They started spreading apart keeping the same distance away from the demon.
When the demon ran towards any of them, they correspondingly moved the same direction in order to keep the distance. There was an invisible circle being placed upon the demon which he could not escape. The Mongolites had now gotten so far apart that the demon could only see two at once.
He was constantly turning around, trying his hardest to not allow any one of them to ambush him. Alexander heard laughter in the group, the demon constantly jerking his head was a funny sight.
The Mongolites slowly started approaching the demon until they were within leap range. They continued orbiting the demon. The teacher looked at the demon with contempt, he knew that the battle was already over but wanted the demon to learn a lesson.
The demon feeling the danger so close to him made him stress, he put his hands together and released an attack targeted towards one of the Mongolites. A stupid mistake. The Mongolite he attacked easily dodged it, and the other two Mongolites leaped onto him.
They sunk their jaw into his skin leeching onto it, then they ferociously started ripping into his skin with their four claws. It didn't take long for the demon to fall on the ground unable to do anything. Then the mongolites started ripping apart large segments of his skin and muscles. It was only then that the teacher pulled them away, and with a snap of his fingers the student was sent to the infirmary.
"Well, after that catastrophic you might realise that whilst the Mongolite is weak alone it can be really dangerous in a group setting. In today's class I want each one of you to come out here and kill at least one.
"Here's some advice. The mongolites attacks are physical, which means that you should keep your distance. The only way for them to cross the distance is through leaping, if you are quick enough you can easily dodge them. Their drool is actually a sort of poison towards us, it makes us stiffen up which makes it easier for them to eat us."
"I think you all noticed the intruder in the class. I think you should introduce yourself and therefore how about you go first" He said in a gotcha manner.
