The feeling of mana was a special one. It felt above your eyes, where the supposed third eye was. An aura which existed in small river trail all over the room, it was comforting and soothing to experience it.
It was faint, an image of a colourless entity. He did not see it but he sensed it, the amount felt very little. With a painful jolt he woke up, his legs were all scrambled, his body was on the stone floor. He opened his eyes a dead classroom, demon bodies were scattered all across the room, they woke up, raising with squinted eyes.
The class was over the teacher that mattered that the class would repeat this practice for the days to come. Alexander was exalted, it felt like he was inching closer to his life long dream.

The class was over the teacher that mattered that the class would repeat this practice for the days to come. Alexander was exalted, it felt like he was inching closer to his lifelong dream.
He had attended each class for today and the rest was free time. There was an odd system circulating in the demon school, personal work was valued a lot higher than class activities as they believed the strong shouldn't work at the same pace as the weak. All the training locals would be opened, you could verse a monster, practice your mana sense, learn more about theory, or work out your body.
Might and strength went hand in hand when it came to symbolism, even though you were a mage you had to keep up appearances. That was the prime reason a lot of demons ended up working out in the gym. Alexander was not bothered about appearances though, his lifelong dream to learn magic was in front of him.
The mention of a fighting tournament had made him interested, he wondered about what the reward could be. As of now, he had little to no chance to win it, therefore his main focus was on improving his strength.
Whilst he was walking through a hall he spotted the three mischievous demons who had visited him last night, he made sure to hide behind a corner before they spotted him. Once they walked past him, he continued his path towards the monster battling room.
His main focus would be on learning about mana, and learning how to use it. But, something which really irritated him was how he got treated during his first lesson, what mistake was so blatant.
Eventually, he made his way into the monster room to find the teacher standing there teaching the students who had willingly come to his sector of the monster-fighting building. It was mainly other first years and the beasts they were fighting all seemed way below their level. It was a slaughter-fest.
Nevertheless, he had not fcome to see that instead he wanted to have a chat with his teacher. That was all he really wanted to do, he approahed him and the teacher treid to ignore him. He had to stand there for a solid 2 minutes before the teacher even geave him the slightest bit of recognition.
"When you said take a serious position what did you mean?"
"Oh, you don't know? I thoguht you were one of those pesky class clowns, I heard humans love to joke."
the teacher then walked casually in front of Alexander. "This is the serious stance" he muttered, "This is how you fought". He widened his stance so far his legs were almost straight and on the floor, he mimicked how a crab would walk and clumsy walked around.
"What's so wrong about that?"
"It's weak, it signals weakness. It also restricts your mana regeneration and makes you look silly."
"Mana regeneration?"
"Listen, my class isn't for explanations, go and ask the theory teacher about that crap. Simply, it's practical to fight properly like we have done over multiple years."
The conversation ended, Alexander was left confused at what he heard. His father has always taught him to stand with a wide stance, it increased stability and ease of movement, but every other demon had moved completely differently from him.
"You know what, I want to fight your weakest monster"
The demon's eyes slid towards him, a smirk arose, "You do know you don't have to ask me?" he said. "What?", "There's a hall there, take an empty room and start your practice" the statement was followed by him pointing his finger.
There was a hall there which seemingly went on forever. It reminded him of the salamander's hall in his mind, there were multiple doors. All of the doors in the forefront were locked but Alexander saw some doors further up being unlocked.
He walked into one of them. In front of him was a crystal which faintly emitted light. The room was completely empty apart from the little purple crystal, he walked up to it and put his hand on it. His mind was filled with pictures with every recorded beast.
He saw dragons, mammoths, gryphons, hydras, and every other mythological beast added into the list. Alexanders eyes widened, he couldn't believe they actually existed. After his moment of amazement, he scrolled until he found a monster he would be able to fight on even terms.
He saw a picture of an Asul flash in front of his face. Alexander got a flashback to when he had first seen it, the mercenary had called it one of the weakest creatures in the forest. Alexander decided to try his luck and selected the Asul as an opponent.
