Chapter 12 - A Spanish River- River's Perspective

Jamie quit last week. He found a better job. That means Margy has to find someone new and quickly. No one ever stays on the job for long, I have now worked there the longest. I was munching on a toastie. I just had another argument with mum about god knows what when Margy called. She said she found a girl who can bartend very well and lives close to the bar. We only ever had two girls and they quit faster then ever. Except Luna of course, but she was a server not a bartender. Luna wasn't very existing though she was in her mid 40's. Anyways, the new girl had the same shifts as me and she started tonight.

I managed to persuade my mother to take me to work and pick me back up so I left everything but my jacket and phone. I got to the bar and no one was there so I decided to start preparing the bar like I normally do. After a while I heard Margy's voice and a new adorable laugh around the corner. It was the new girl. I turned around and standing behind Margy, was a beautiful girl. She was wearing tights but it still showed how fabulous her legs were, her clothes fit her perfectly and her long black hair was behind her shoulders and reaching her hips. Her thick eyelashes framed her gorgeous eyes and she wore a beautiful smile.

'Hey.' I smiled.

'Hi.' Just by that one short word I could tell she had a British accent and that made me intrested in her a lot more. Margy told me she was better at bartending then I was. Of course I had to test that theory and requested a 'bartend off'. A challenge I played with Jamie before he quit. She was, in fact, the better bartender. She expertly threw the bottles in the air and performed tricks perfectly that took me months to learn. I was impressed, but she didn't need to know that. She impressed me further when she said she was fluent in Spanish. My home language. We had a fun night just talking, laughing and making drinks. When we were in the peg room at the back. I got a text from my mother which simply said:

'Find your own way back.'

Like I said I only brought my jacket and phone so no money. When I explained the situation to Arabelle, or Bella because she said she prefers it when people make up their own nicknames for her, I was surprised that she offered me a diner and find me a way home.

When we got to the apartment three people were already in there. A girl called Harper who was very pretty. A guy named Callum who looked like the male version of Bella so I presumed they were siblings and I stood corrected, and oh yeah, only Dieter freaking Harris. They were nice people and after the night do I dare say friends? Bella cooked us tomato chicken pasta and Dieter and Callum washed the dishes.

'Oh no.' Bella was scrolling through her phone. 'River, no more taxis or buses are running.' I checked my watch.

'Well it is 1 in the morning, it's fine I'll walk.' I said.

'No.' she protested. 'Stay, everyone else is.' she looked me dead in the eye. 'It's night and you will be walking for hours.' she added. Dieter patted my shoulder.

'Don't fight it, man. No one can.' he said.

When I finally caved in, she gave me some clothes that were a a little small, I guessed were her brothers cause he looked at her like she just slapped him on the face with a fish. Me and Callum let Harper have the couch and we took the two arm chairs. Arabelle and Dieter were snuggled up together in each others arms on her bed. I texted my mum I was staying over at a friends and I knew she would have something to negative say about it in the morning.
