Kellen walked over to the knights training grounds. Where several knight trainees could be seen doing multiple exercises. One of the master knights named Kalyan shouting at them "100.. 101.. 102.. 103". Currently they were training their strength by swinging their swords downwards over and over again.
Kellen walked on the sideline of the training field, as he tried to scout around to see if he could spot Arthur. Looking around he found that plenty of the students had turned their heads to look in his direction. Kellen decided to ignore some of the not so friendly faces as he passed the field students and came in front of the knights stables.
Kellen stood in front of the very impressive building made from Petrie stone. A reasonably rare stone that is said to absorb magic like it was nothing, Kellen had theory that it was the same material used to make the statues of their ancestors. But then again maybe not, for all Kellen knows it is very expensive and only used for place of great importance and for the army of their capital, Bulataria. Kellen, being the so called son of Darwin Celric the most powerful mage known to man, but even he doesn't have the pleasure to access something like Petrie stone frequently, even his father the most famous and powerful mage in this current era has limited access to this resource. King Alistar holds the empire's entire stock of Petrie, that people know of, some shady merchant's have hidden deposits of Petrie, hopefully father will dispose of them soon, filthy commoners.
As Kellen opened the door to the headquarters of the knights, he was greeted by a large commotion, Kellen looked in the direction already have an idea of what was happening. A Duel between master knights, specifically between Arthur and another man, that if he remembered right was called James. Kellen walked over to the circle of knights around them.
"What's going on?" Kellen asked one of the bystanders, a huge man made of a pure mountain of muscles turned around to look at Kellen with doubting look on his face.
"You don't know? Arthur and Lacria are have their announced a fight for who buys, all the master knights of the stable a round of beer, this weekend at the Tipsy inn" the giant knight replied with glee. "They made that bet last monday"
Arthur for a moment looked towards the crowd and caught a glimpse of Kellen talking to the large knight, Kellen made a quick wave as a signal to finish the fight. Arthur proceeded to use he fleet and fast footwork to quickly reach past his opponents sword and disarming him, ending the fight in flash. Cheering rang through the hall and knights started to take their losses or receive others losses in the form coin. As always the knights bet on each other when there's a fight there are bets. Kellen sat down at one of the tables near the window, trying to think of new ways to experiment with to gain mana so that he could become the mage, he was supposed to be, instead of being a failure. "Kellen" said Arthur stopping his line of thoughts. "Did you need something? oh great son of Darwin the master of magics" he continued. "Shut you trap Arthur, I'm here for training of course".
Later in the master knights personal training grounds, Kellen and Arthur began their usual spar currently the score was
Arthur: 15 wins 0 losses
Kellen: 0 wins 15 losses
After the crushing defeat Kellen made his way to the workshop where the professor might be working on the new system for the automatic turrets, they were requested a few days ago by a noble of little power on the border. Kellen thought this was to protect themselves from monster from the forest even more likely flying monsters, since the turrets were to have better anti-air missiles with a precise targeting system. "Just a few more adjustments to the hex-crystal and.." the professor was mumbling to himself while not noticing Kellen enter the study "I'm here professor Quill, I'll be upstairs if you need any help with the shop"
"Perfect timing Kellen, come have a look at this" the professor interrupted him. Walking over he could see the professor's excitement "I went ahead with your plan and sketch of your new project: Stun grenade prototype 2.4"
Kellen examined the gadget laying in front of the professor an oval-shaped grenade with two metal pressure plates on each end and the electrical charged core, powered by hex-crystals. "But professor with no pin the grenade reacts to your touch as well, so trying to throw this would end in you being paralyzed on the ground instead of your enemy" Kellen pointed out to the professor, who was now looking at the grenade in deep thought. "Maybe add a condition to the system to only trigger the grenade if thrown, and thereafter by touch, if there are no glitches that might work"
Professor Quill slowly nodded his head and said "Very good Kellen, I will try experimenting right away and by the way Kellen a customer wanted to specifically have you deliver their order of tracking darts. So would you mind doing that before leaving today?"
"Put it on the notice board Professor and I'll try and get to it later today" Kellen said slowly vanishing up the stairs. Professor Quill continued working on the new prototype of the stun grenade.
"Kellen?" an unfamiliar voice called out. "hm.. did you say something professor"
The professor didn't react "Maybe just my imagination"
