Chapter 21 - Lord of the castles fate

After the healing spell finished its goal, the golden radiance of the flakes slowly dissipated away into nothingness.

"Oh my! The gods are blessing us"

"Praise be, the heavens are helping us"

"What was that?!"

Many people released their shock from what they had just witnessed and experienced. In this day and age many people still have full trust and belief that Gods are still around, they use this as an excuse whenever something catastrophic or amazing happens.

Out of everyone here, the only person who understood what happened, was really shocked and confused. It was the wizard who requested any kind of help with the wounded. Soon he came to and asked Mazak.

"Sir? What spell was that? That was an act of god if I hadn't witnessed you summon the spell"

Mazak thought for a little while before replying, "well, you can say this is kind of a long lost spell and I'm most likely the only one who knows of it. However who knows, someone else might actually know it too and I'd find it interesting to meet them"

The wizards mood dropped a fair bit after knowing that at most only a few people in the entire world would know of this spell. He most likely would've wanted to learn it to increase his importance to the wizard union (organisation dedicated only to wizards) and to help as many people as he could.

Mazak coughed to break the wizard from his thoughts and said to him, "well, my role here is partially is done. By any chance do you know where the lord is? I have a question I must ask him."

The wizard snapped from his lowering mood and after thinking for a few seconds the wizard finally replied to Mazak. "The lord has not appeared at any events for the past few days and I haven't personally seen him today, let me ask some of my colleagues if they know anything about him"

"Very well, I'll wait here and help anyone that needs it" Mazak concluded this conversation and headed to the ICU (Intensive care unit) to help any of the patients and medical staff.

After a short hour, Mazak had already saved everyone who was fatally injured and almost brought them back to their tip-top shape before heading over to the medical staff room to look around for some people.

'Wow... I didn't realise how much war affected everyone, the families of the patients would be distraught to find their loved ones on a death bed and the soldiers who lived through it and found out they lost their family would be destroyed to find that what they fought to protect was gone forever. However war is war and it's never always avoidable, it's always the greed, hatred, and malicious intent of others wanting to destroy others for whatever reason they have' Mazak was having a whole conversation to himself whilst walking to the medical staff room, his emotions mixed and swirled as if it were a tornado, sucking in all the emotions and finding they were flung too far to be brought back.

After walking for not long, Mazak reached the large medical tent which was where the staff were resting and sharing knowledge however before he entered he muttered a sentence, "Everything is unavoidable with time"

Mazak walked through the tent entrance to be greeted with multiple stares from the medical staff that were resting from helping the loads of injured and wounded soldiers and some civilians.

All of these stares came from the people Mazak had helped (the ones who were trying desperately to save people in the ICU).

"Hello everyone, I'm Mazak" He spoke to break the silence emitted by everyone.

"Ah!" Many people shook the silence away after Mazak introduced himself, "Mr Mazak it's an honour to meet you and can I just say that your spells saved many people today!" A few people came to compliment Mazaks' spells.

"It's fine honestly, I don't like seeing anyone or many people suffering so I'd rather have a say in the matter and help them stop the suffering" Mazak truthfully replied to the comments and praises; muffled under his breath he also said, "one way or mother to stop one from suffering"

"By any chance do you know where the lord is?" Mazak couldn't help but ask almost immediately since he had a few questions.

The medical staff all stayed silent for a few solemn minutes.

"What happened?" Mazak became sure that they knew something has happened with the lord and said with a deep voice.

"Sir... the lord was found dead last night in his chambers..." one of the staff slowly and quietly spoke out.

Mazaks mood became very sour after hearing this and he immediately left for the lords chambers.

After entering the lords inner areas of the castle he was greeted to many guards, guarding the many staircases and blocking the doors.

Immediately he headed towards the guard which looked like the captain of this unit.

"I'm in request of the lords presence, however I heard that something has happened to him" Mazak announced to the captain.

"I need to see your identification!" The guard said in a loud, confident and domineering voice.

"I really need to get identification don't I?" Mazak muttered under his breath before saying to the captain, "I do not have any form of identification on me, however as I said to the guard on a checkpoint, my name is Mazak I'm a high elf and am an adventurer and over last night I had helped many soldiers with their skirmishes with the Calibrica forces"

"Hmm, I did get wind of your arrival. But from last night onwards this city will require identification and for your help I will provide you with a card shortly. Also the lord cannot meet you." The captains voice lowered and softened a little bit.

"I also got wind that the lord had suffered a tragic death, I would like to see if I can help him" Mazak calmly replied to the captain.

The captain froze for a minute.

"Stay here" the captain quickly told Mazak before heading to a strictly guarded tent outside the lords castle.

After waiting for half a dozen minutes the captain came back with another guard, seemingly more important.

"Sorry for the delay Mazak, I had to get authorisation to get a card made for you and to ask my superior if you can help" he kindly told Mazak.

After the captain stopped talking, the superior he was talking about joined in the conversation, "Mazak, I've been told that you're very proficient in all areas of spells does that include spells of life or healing?"

"Yes it does sir, I even have the chance to bring some back from the dead under certain conditions" Mazak swiftly answered

"Very well then, follow me. I will take you to the lords chamber where he resides and the card will be delivered to you shortly" the captains superior finished talking and started leading Mazak to the chambers.

After a few minutes of walking through long hallways and tall staircases, Mazak and the superior finally reached the lords chambers.

"Let's enter" Mazak said without wasting time and instantly opened the big and heavy door.
