Her heat has come.
Nanna looked at the ones crowding her with fearful eyes flailing her hands to make sure they won't get near her as she crawled backwards away from them.
The situation hasn't really sank in Nanna's mind as it wondered. It was very unlikely for her to have a "heat" and yet she was in this predicament where her life is on the line just because of this phenomenon. Have the biological role test results gone wrong? How could that be? Is that even possible? These were the thoughts running through Nanna's mind.
As she zoned-out while trying to escape the crowd, Nanna felt a firm grip on one of her foot. Snapping out of her thoughts, she looked at her foot and kicked like there's no tomorrow just to pry herself from the man's grip. The others who already hovered on her, started to touch different parts of her body, licking and smelling them like they're some delicacy that they hadn't eaten for a long time.
Nanna panicked as she saw how these people reacted around her. She helplessly started to violently kick her legs and flail her hands trying to see a way out from the crowd. She tried to stand up but failed as a wave of unknown feeling surged through her body as the people touched her. She felt like her body was thrown in a fire pit making it hot all over and weak. She continued to squirm from their hold kicking and swatting them but there was no use as they're too many of them.
Before Nanna got engulfed by the crazy vicious crowd, a blinding flash of light emerged out of nowhere making the crowd temporarily unable to see and in an instant Nanna was in mid-air held by a handsome man.
In the midst of the new sensation on her body and the unruly situation, Nanna didn't forget to appreciate her savior. As soon as her eyes landed on his handsome face, she automatically fixed them on him. Nanna's eyes seemingly twinkle against the light of the candle not a second leaving the man's face. Soon, they reached a safe place far enough from the crowd for Nanna to take the medicine right away hoping to disperse her scent and with it calming the crowd.
The crowd got recovered from the blinding light all the while realizing that their prey was missing. They started to look around and sniff the air for Nanna's scent as it still lingered in the room. Once she was spotted, the crowd howled in celebration of finding their prey. They ran towards her crazily but before they got to her, they were knocked down all at once by a strong force.
The crowd lied on the floor lifeless and calm turning back to their normal state. Nanna was surprised and impressed. She looked at the handsome guy in front of her thinking it was him who did it but before she got to say her thank you she was choked by a minty yet bittersweet taste of a liquid.
She coughed and looked at the guy in front of her. It was a different one. This guy sure was handsome but has a different feeling she can't pinpoint what it was that differ from her savior but she sure knew that this guy isn't simple. She glared at him as she hold her chest. "Are you insane?!" Nanna said angrily. The other apologized sheepishly, "The young master told me to make you take it" he said in his defense as he pointed to a guy who was walking towards the door.
Before Nanna could stop the man from going out of the door, Nanna felt something inside of her. It made her body weak and yet it was different from her heat. The sensation made her body less hot and weird. She can feel that she was slowly calming down but her strength depleting. She looked at her savior and the other guy who gave it to her with confusion and a lot of questions in her mind.
"Let's talk outside" Her savior said guiding and helping her walk towards the door. Nanna is too weak to protest plus she doesn't want to stay there any longer thus she let him guide her outside.
Once outside far away from the auction house, Nanna found the nearest tree leaning on it while the three men stood nearby not wanting to crowd her letting her calm down first. After calming down even though still a little bit shaken up, Nanna looked at the three men questioningly wanting to know who they are and why did they helped her as well as what will happen next.
Nanna breathed in a couple of times before speaking, "First of all thank you…all of you for helping me back there. I wouldn't know and don't want to know what will happen to me if you guys hadn't helped me" she said, a shiver ran down her spine as she thought of the things that happened earlier. She somewhat can still feel the touches of the people inside. Nanna tried not to think of it trying to remove those terrifying thoughts on her mind.
She continued feeling her voice a bit dry even though she didn't really used it a lot earlier. "Second, what was given to me? What was that minty bittersweet liquid?" she paused a bit before continuing "It somehow helped my body calm down but my strength…" she trailed off as she looked at her still trembling hands. She clasped them trying to calm herself more before looking at the three as she wait for their answers.
"Something to suppress your heat", Oswald spoke while he moved closer to her wanting to check if she has already calmed down. He crouched and looked at Nanna trying to see if she got injured. Seeing Nanna only received some bruises on her legs and arms, Oswald sighed in relief as she would look even more pitiful if she got really hurt pretty baldly. "It was your first, wasn't it?" he asked her gently seeing her still shaken up. Nanna nods thinking it wouldn't be safe to stay there so she mustered herself and stood up, her hand on the tree for support.
"It was a good thing young master here is a quick thinker otherwise we'll all be screwed" Oswald said as he too stood up. She looked at them one by one trying to examine them in her mind, "How can I repay you?" she asked them as she does not want to owe anyone.
Oswald look at the two and was about to speak but the young master beat him up to it. He stood up and spoke, "Get your things. I'll give you a whole day to prepare everything when the dusk has come and the sun has set someone will pick you up at the town square by the fountain." Before Nanna could even refute, the young master had already boarded the carriage that Nanna only noticed after the young master had went inside.
Oswald sighed at the young master's attitude," Don't mind him but I advise you to follow what he just said and before I forgot I'm Oswald Reinger" he said bowing to the young lady in front of him. "And "this is" he pointed to the man beside him "Clive Cailean" the man beside Oswald bowed.
Nanna was taken aback from the two. She let out a breath of relief seeing the two so well mannered. "My name is Nanna" she replied to them introducing herself as she bowed to them like a proper lady but before they could exchange more words another sentence left the young master's lip as he sat comfortably inside the carriage, "Don't be late" he said firmly as the carriage started to move.
Oswald panicked realizing he was going to be left behind. Not wanting to walk back to the mansion, he quickly bid farewell to Nanna before catching up to the carriage. The carriage stopped and as he opened the door, he was surprised that Clive was already there "When did-", before he can utter another word the young master expressed his annoyance making Oswald quickly go inside the carriage not wanting to irritate the young master any further. He sighed once he sat comfortably thinking it's hard to please the young master, this made him shook his head then he remembered and peeked out the window saying aloud to Nanna "By the way, the young master's name is Leon Hartgilde" he then got shoved back to his sit as the carriage drove out of the town.
