Chapter 10 - Speculations and observations

Once Nanna was out of the study, Rem glanced at Isaac who was happily enjoying another cup of hot tea. He turned to Rem when he felt someone was looking at him. "What?" He asked looking at Rem who has turned to him calmly but his eyes showed that he knew there was more to Isaac's examination than what he just told them earlier.

"Care to tell me what you have found?" Rem still retained his calmness as he waited for what Isaac has to say.

"Indeed, I found something else as I examined her earlier." He said as he placed his cup down and continued, "When I first heard what happened to her from Leon, I read some books trying to see if there were similar occurrences like hers in the past…I found nothing."

Rem silently listened to what Isaac had said, "You have found nothing in your books?" He repeated as if he was asking. "But what did you find after you examined her?" he continued.

"Her blood." Isaac simply stated.

"Her blood? What about it?" Rem slowly got interested on where Isaac's observation is going, so he continued to patiently listen to him as Isaac continued.

"Remember how omegas' body constitution are different from one another does a classification was formed to prevent harming them in terms of giving medicine and care for their body?" Rem nodded his head. The classification was taught to them when they were children and is mentioned again once an omega's first 'heat' arrives.

"The classification guides the healer how strong the suppressant potion the omega needed. Your potion is intended for strong-weak omegas like yourself and Clause. The likes of Nanna and Lila cannot take them as it serves as poison to them giving their body discomfort making them sick. The most dangerous effect is death especially to some like Lila who has the weakest body constitution… That is why Nanna who has a normal-weak constitution is a special case…"

"Because she didn't experienced any discomfort and got sick after taking my potion?" Rem finished Isaac's sentence for him understanding what Isaac was trying to say. "And this has something to do with her blood?"

Isaac nodded, his lips formed a small smile as he thought, 'As expected of his friend he was able to catch up on what he was trying to say'. "Yes. It seems like her blood somewhat prevented the potion from harming her body but still let it able to help suppress her 'heat'…You know I have prided on my skills in healing people and yet I, myself, cannot believe what I have found. I can only ask my master or go to the Imperial Library to confirm what I have found and get some answers."

"Master Ward. I've heard he was out traveling around the world." Rem remembered Leon mentioning about it some weeks ago.

"Yes, as of now he is out traveling the world. Saying he wanted to help those in need and he also started to complain about his body getting stiffer everyday he stayed indoor…that's why he decided to travel again." Isaac sighed remembering his master leaving everything in his care before traveling. "So, all I can do for now is go to the Imperial Library to read more books. I might find something helpful there. I'll also send a message to one of master's acquaintances in the Monastery of Knowledge."

Isaac paused a little and reached for the teapot pouring some tea on his cup. He sipped some frowning. The tea was already cold. Isaac being fond of hot tea, placed his cup down not caring anymore about the tea. This gesture didn't go unnoticed from Rem. It made him chuckled seeing his friend's displeased face so he rang the bell and a servant knocked on the door with another set of hot tea.

Once the servant was gone, Isaac continued, "There's another thing that I've found in Nanna's body. It's faint and wouldn't be able to be notice easily…I almost missed it."

"Another thing inside of her?" Rem was surprised even more. 'How much mystery shrouds this girl', he thought.

"Hmm…there are faint traces of a medicine-like substance that seems to be mixed with tea or in her food so that it wouldn't be found out that's why I almost missed it." Isaac said as he sipped his hot tea looking at Rem who got even more silent as he got lost in his thoughts. These things that they have found about Nanna were all very important and needed to be taken cautiously as they don't know what it can bring to them yet especially to her.

"What are you thinking?" Isaac asked curiously. His friend wasn't really the serious type but once he felt how grave any situation is his instincts and intelligence sure kicks in speculating and formulating theories and solutions. That's how special Rem is. Having qualities of an alpha inside an omega's body. With his skills and intelligence, no one dared to belittle him even if he is an omega.

"I just thought of something. You said earlier that Nanna has always been an omega, right? Could it be that the other thing you have found is another kind of suppressant?"

"That's a possibility. I have thought of it too when I learned about it. It's possible that her grandmother had known that she was an omega but chose to hide it from her. She also chose to suppress it gradually by making her take low amounts of suppressant that she might have made herself." Isaac agreed to what Rem had said thinking Nanna's identity sure is something special otherwise why would her grandmother hide the fact that she's an omega.

"Hmm…It's likely since her grandmother sold high quality herbs in the kingdom. Their store isn't big but you might have been there before. A question keeps bothering me though, 'Why did her grandmother choose to hide that fact instead of helping her understand it?'" Rem wondered out loud as that question bothered him.

Every grandmother's wish is for their grandchild to live their lives healthily and happily without being in any danger and yet she chose to hide a very important part of her life. Does it mean that being an omega endangers her more than knowing it? Rem thought.

"There can be many reasons why she hid the fact that her granddaughter is an omega especially to Nanna herself. One reason may be is that she does not want her granddaughter to suffer like the majority of omegas. Another may be is that it can be very dangerous for her to live as an omega or she just does not want her granddaughter to be only seen as someone who was weak and is only for birthing children." Isaac voiced out some possible reasons but until he can know what that medicine was or why did Nanna's grandmother hide the fact that she was an omega, they can only speculate things and not be able to move forward on this matter.

Rem agreed at Isaac's last statement. Omegas are considered the weakest of the secondary gender. With a weak body constitution, omegas were bound to be unable to do a lot of things especially during their childhood. If one don't take care of themselves as they grow, their body won't last especially those with the weakest body constitution. So it's very understandable if someone would resort to what Nanna's grandmother did but she was only making it more difficult for Nanna than it should be. He sighed and leaned on the back rest of the sofa not really knowing what would make of what they had just found.

Isaac looked at Rem sympathetically patting his shoulder, "These things are a lot to handle but worrying too much isn't really ideal. In the future, we might even reached a dead end and won't be able to know why did her grandmother did that or why her blood is special. All we can do for now is look into things that might give us answers and I doubt asking Nanna would help but we can start with her since she's the only solid lead we have." He tried to comfort Rem.

The Hartgilde mansion does house very interesting and special individual in themselves but this is the first for something like this. "I know. What we found is very interesting but somehow I have a feeling that things might get dangerous."
