Chapter 16 - City

After my escape, I had a faint idea of how I could aquire materials and power. The powersource I could easily build but I still needed the materials to make it out of. There might be a creature able to synthesize the materials I need, but that would only be speculation.

I was circling over the city at a low speed and looking down on the streets. I was unsure how much time I had spent in the library but the sun had risen considerably and the streets were slowly filling up with reptilians and dragons.

The dragons were rare on the streets. The reptilians were much more common and form time to time a few human-like creatures with pointy ears could be seen. Not long after daybreak, what I presumed to be, the marketplace got louder as the day progressed.

I observed the daily life of the citys inhabitants for probably half a day before I remembered that I actually still needed power and materials.

I did some testing with the material durability of the contents of my collection and found out that this white metal was incredibly sturdy, especially for its low weight. This substance would qualify as a hull construction material.

I guessed, until I had found a suitable power source, I could attempt to gather more of that material and maybe even find out it's name. The only way comming to mind would be to move into the city again. I however didn't want to go in there with all the materials floating around me, as this would certainly raise some eyebrows... or an equivalent to them.

The chroniton flow stabilizer also didn't seem to be an issure that had to be resolved immideately as i detected no further temporal disruptions, since that time. Although it was clearly important, it didn't seem to be a pressing issure for now, and by my estimate, I could just keep on countering it for the forseable future.

I closed in on the marketplace to land but had the materials hover about 45 meters above me so they wouldn't be noticed directly. The exception was of course the prototype which I still kept closely. A few of them still eyed me, probably because of my size though.

I was a bit clueless, regarding what I should do next. After a while of wandering around, I had decided on looking for a weapons shop, as I had seen the unnaturally white material in a store in the first city, I was in.

I was looking for a smithy and shortly after I began my search, I had already found it thanks to my pulses. Upon entering, I saw a reptilian/dragonborn doing something at an anvil. When he saw me, he started talking. Whatever he was doing at the anvil appeareantly wasn't important.

John Smith: "Yo, I'm John, John Smith." Of course that's his name.

Eclipse(Me): "I would like what material this is."

I pulled the cube of white material down and then through a door, presenting it to the owner the the smithy.

John Smith: "It's mythril. Do you want me do make a weapon from it for you?"

I wasn't going to answer his question about making something from it.

Eclipse(Me): "Do you know of materials more durable than this one?"

John Smith: "The only ones I could think of right now would be adamantite and ebony although they are not as mana conductive."

I don't care about mana conductivity though. After I had found out about mana, I had tried castin some simple spell but unfortunately I appeareantly didn't have any mana anyways. I didn't even have theese mana circuits, which were appeareantly required to use magic form the enviroment.

In short; I was unable to use magic.

Eclipse(Me): "That won't be a problem. Where could I find those materials?"

John Smith: "There is a addandoned mine in the west but I would suggest against going there, as there are rumors about demon activity in the area."

Eclipse(Me): "Alright, thank you for your help."

I headded to the door before i heard him speak up again.

John Smith: "If you are planning to go there, you should hire high-rank adventurers for portection. A young dragon such as yourself shouldn't unnecessarily endanger themselves."

Right, I was still tiny compared to everything in this city. The buildings were easily 5 meters tall, just for one floor, just to put it into perspective.

I was a but split between "No, I'm good, I don't need any mercenaries", because i really didn't need them and "Where do I find them?", because I was curious about how stron the stron in this world were.

Eclipse(Me): "Where do I find theese adventueres?"

John Smith: "At the adventurers guild, to get there just follow along the street."

Now, although I had decided on my answer towards the smith, I still had to decide for myself. Looking up, I was thinking I defenitely had the funds required to hire one.

I headed towards the guild and thought about the answer to my question on the way.
