Chapter 44 - Chapter 44. Guilt and regret

The two people in the practice grounds- Aeinshia and Andrew were chilling themselves in the cold brewing wind, sitting on the bench and just enjoying each others company without any words being said.

The father and daughter duo had their own thoughts running through their minds. Andrew was basking in his own memories of his late love while Aeinshia was immersed in the own memories of her love.

(No matter what, they are blood related, after all- author)

Cool air was flowing through and the sun was not too scroaching hot, which created a perfect atmosphere in the Palace and the capital. But, it doesn't mean that the situation are always same as the atmosphere. Calm things carry utter destructions.

As on cue, many guards started to rush into the grounds, alerted the people relaxing there. Almost ten guards rushed up to the center, with Peter following suit. Andrew stood up and frowned at the commotion. Guards rushing means something definitely has gone wrong.

His suspicions were proved right when his eyes laid on a distressed looking Peter walking - more like speed walking - towards the grounds. The was also a piece of paper in his hands. Then it clicked in his head. Yeah, there is no peace in the Palace.

Aeinshia too, stood up with her father and stared at the commotion. Then, she saw Peter, poor guy was totally worked up. But, her thoughts suddenly, drifted off to Evan. "If Peter is like this, then Evan must be worse than this." she silently thought.

When more guards were rushing up, she knew her presence here was unnecessary. They were looking like they will be going on a battle. She deemed it was time for her to head into the Palace. Its not like she was not interested in knowing what's happening, in fact, she was a curious cat.

But, she knew better than to interfere with these matters now. She can always get the information she wants in the Palace. After all, the gossipy maids can be of use sometimes. She had no idea, how in the love of God the information passes but, it spreads like wildfire.

Well, the most interesting and admiring fact is that, that information never leaves the Palace or the maids slum. Thats the upside of all this. Aeinshia shook her head at the fact and decided to take her leave from here.

As soon as, she opened her mouth to tell her father that she is going to leave to Palace, Andrew turned around. Seemingly with the same intention as Aeinshia. "Father, I'll take my leave now." she spoke out with a soft smile. Andrew nodded his head, returning the same soft smile.

Aeinshia turned around and started walking towards the Palace. When she was about to exit, her curiosity got her the best so, she turned around to peek at what the people over there were doing.

Her father was talking to Peter. Peter was desperately showing him the piece of paper in his hands. She then saw Andrew nodding his head slowly and they both turned towards the small batch of guards in front of them.

Andrew was seriously talking with one guard and Peter was nodding along to, seemingly, every sentence. She couldn't hear them clearly. Eventually, she gave up and decided to walk towards her chambers.

Maybe she could meet Felix and know what is happening in the Palace. As she was going into the Palace, she could see the guards were all rushing to the grounds. "Must be a serious matter" she thought to herself.

She shrugged it off and continued her calm walk to her room. Suddenly, an idea popped into her head. "What if its about the official's death?" Her thoughts made her eyes to widen. "If the people are rushing, then surely, its a big matter." she thought and tried to guess whats happening there.

She was so lost in her thoughts, that she didnt see the person coming in front of her. The other person also didnt notice where they were going and....

BAM....

Aeinshia straight landing on her behind and quietly cursed under her breath. She looks up to curse up the person but, her breath got stuck in her throat. There stood Evan in all his glory. Her heart started to beat at a rapid pace and she could feel the blood rushing up her face.

To cover up embarassment, she quickly looked down and slowly sat up on her knees and straightened up her dress. She took her sweet time, to clear out all the redness on her face.

On the other hand, Evan stood there and was just staring blankly at her. He prayed that at least for one day, he wouldn't have to face her. But, fate never supported him. There she was panicking and trying her best to cover her blushing face from him.

He crouched down and fisted her dress a little so, she could stand up without tripping on it. When they finally stood up, Evan was going to go his way but, stopped in his tracks. Aeinshia was looking him in his eyes.

All his guilt suddenly, started to weigh on him. He suddenly couldn't breath. It felt like the walls were closing on him. He quickly averted his eyes and moved away from her. "I'm sorry." he said, his voice wavering a bit. He cleared his throat and simply walked off.

Aeinshia was dumbfounded. Evan just behaved as if he didnt even know her. He moved away from her, this hurted a lot. Tears suddenly welled up in her eyes. She just stood there and tried to convince herself that it was nothing.

Evan was just busy and stressed about the thing going in the palace. She already predicted Evan would be like this, if Peter was so disturbed and stressed. She knew, that he was going to avoid her. She knew it. But, somehow reality was harsh.

No matter how much she convinced herself, the emotion in Evan's eyes was unerasable. The only emotions swimming in his beautiful dark eyes were - Guilt and regret. She didnt know why but, that hurt her a lot.

Evan rushed out of the place, as fast as possible. He felt bad, very bad, for leaving his love like that. He was sure, she must have suspected something. He saw the expression change on her face. He didnt want to do it. It has nothing to do with her. The only person, who had to blamed was him and him alone.

All the way to grounds was filled with Evan, regretting his beahaviour towards her. This may sound stupid but, he believed, Aeinshia would understand him. It was false hope, still he liked to hang on it with his whole life.

As he approached the grounds, he could see the guards standing in batches. He was close. So close to catch the culprit. Yeah, he would worry about his love life and guilt later.

But, the lesson to be learnt is that, handle the situations while you can.
