Chapter 23 - New people

I stood up and looked for Liyah who was a few seats away. "Liyah let's go" I insisted, stopping in front of her. Her head turned towards me and she had an expression like she was wronged. "You were chosen as the archmage's apprentice and you didn't tell me!?!" she accused me. Some people turned towards us with a curious look. I frantically took Liyah's hand, "I'll explain outside" I exclaimed, pulling her towards the exit. We got outside to the shared courtyard where there were snacks and drinks. It's a party where all the students can roam and get to know each other. I found a bench where I sat Liyah and myself down. "Okay so like you heard I got accepted as the archmage's apprentice. Long story short she saw help this guy using my mana and then offered me an apprenticeship." I explained as quickly as I could before anyone else would show up. "Oh, thank you for explaining. But I'm still mad that you didn't tell me earlier" she pouted, crossing her arms. Her expression pulled a laugh out of my mouth, which turned into us both laughing. After we calmed down we decided to grab some refreshments. Standing up we started to walk towards the tables.

"Hey are you Lydia Raven?"

Turning around a guy who looked to be a first year student stood behind us. He had short brown hair and brown eyes. Nodding I fully turned around. "Cool, my name is Christopher Lore. I'm a first year in the knight department." He introduced himself. Lore? That means he's from a senator's house. "Uhm, I'll get us drinks" Liyah told me and walked away. Damn you liyah for leaving me alone. I looked back at Christopher, "hello Christopher, it's a pleasure to meet you. As you already know my name is Lydia Raven" I replied, curtsying. "Call me Chris" he encouraged. He then looked around, like he lost someone. "Is something wrong Chris?" I asked confused. "That guy disappeared again. I actually wanted to introduce this guy to you. He's a really strong swordsman it would be cool to see you guys duel or something" Chris explained. "Oh" I said surprised. He flashed me smile then his eyes lit up like he had an idea, "oh if you could, I would like to spar with you tomorrow, it would be nice to train against mana" asked then frantically added, "only if you wanted to?" At first I was caught off guard but then I started to laugh because of how forward he was. "Sure, that sounds good, it would also do me some good to spar against a swordsman." I replied with a warm smile. He also smiled, "let's meet at the arena at 8 am tomorrow" Chris said. Nodding I said goodbye and started to look for Liyah.

I found liyah grabbing our drinks and rushed over to her. She saw me and handed me a glass of a red liquid. Taking it, "what is this?" I asked, suspicious. "Oh don't worry it's a virgin strawberry Dockery. Also who was that guy earlier?" She asked, equally suspicious. "Chris, he asked to spar. You should come with in case any of us get hurt" I suggested. She took a moment to think about it before she agreed. Smiling we starting to wander around. We got stopped a few times, but mostly just for short introductions and small talk. "Lydia!" a familiar voice called out. Looking up I saw a Har, hunter and another girl walk towards me. "So this is the famous Lydia Raven" the girl remarked. She had dark blue medium length wavy hair. Her eyes were also a deep blue. "Yep, the one and only" Hunter answered. Confused, I looked between Hunter and the girl. "Oh you guys haven't met this is Luaren, she's a fifth year student from the diplomat department" Har informed me. "Sup" Lauren greeted with a playful smile. " Hello, I'm Lydia Raven, but you already know that '' I introduced myself with a small curtsy. Then I felt a bit of pressure on my side and remembered that Liyah and Har haven't formally met. "uhm Liyah this is my sister Harper. Har this is my roommate Aliyah." I said. Liyah curtsied to Har who nodded. "It's a pleasure To meet you," Liyah said. "The pleasures all mine" Har responded, "but I do have to tend to some things. It was good seeing you Lydia" she said as they turned and walked away. "See ya" I responded waving. Liyah and I then walked around a bit more and eventually met up with Kelsey and Jackson again.

"Hello, Miss apprentice" Jackson yelled as they approached us. Kelsey immediately punched him, "shut up, hey Lydia and Aliyah," she greeted. "Hi" "hello" we both responded, laughing at Jackson who was rubbing his arm where Kelsey punched him. "Humph, be quiet" Jackson whined. "It's good to see you guys again, how did you like the ceremony?" Kelsey asked. "It was entertaining at times, but the rest it was kinda boring" Liyah answered. We all nodded in agreements. "Yeah, last year when we were first years. One of the fifth years actually made a whole song dissing on the teachers. Compared to that this ceremony was lacking" Jackson brought up. "Actually?" I exclaimed. Jackson then went on to tell us different stories about the class that just graduated. After someone called Kelsey's name, we parted ways.

We left the party around 12:30 and walked back to our dorm deciding to take a nap before the banquet at 7. We got in our dorm and took off our shoes. I then proceeded to collapse on my couch. "You should go to your room to rest. But wake up before 5." Liyah encouraged, pulling me up. "Okay" I answered and entered my room. I took off my dress and make up, undoing my hair as well. I changed into some night garments and fell into bed. Grabbing my phone off the night stand I set an alarm for 5 pm and went to sleep.
