"Brian, this won't do. Go bring the stuff to the island. It's easier than pushing the carts over to the building and then back." She pointed at a bunch of carts that, were filled with all kind of stuff.
Actually, the pier was not even a hundred feet away so that made sense.
"We will do that. What are you doing?" Saw her entering the store alone. He saw her confused face.
"Do I have the right to take a few things or what?" She blinked at him making him feel ashamed.
"No, don't misunderstand. I meant is there anything we can help you with?" He scratched his head as he tried to hide his awkwardness.
Maria shook her head. "Can I go alone? I need some personal items and a few things that I might want to eat."
He nodded and just turned around with a red face. Stupid idiot. He almost slapped himself. She has more right to the food than them.
Seeing everyone leave the store Maria carefully rushed to the storage and saw what she was looking for. Ice cell.
"Can I store the whole thing inside space?" Suddenly it disappeared opening space to huge space filled with all the packages. Ony few hanging installations showed the place where ice cell was standing, but no one would notice it anyway in this kind of situation...
"Too bad I can't just take whole storage inside my space. Never mind. Uh, it would be so easy if I knew what is in the packages and where."
"Bring me to the main computer. Maybe it has the data."
Seeing nearby office she rushed in while controlling her light ball and suddenly PC turned on on his own, actually the whole place suddenly had energy.
"What happened?" She looked around completely flabbergasted.
"I turned the main processor with a bit of my own power and then turned on their generator that produces energy. But it won't last long. Just a few hour's."
"Great. Give me a list of food."
With his help she went to this and that corner of the store and gathered most of the packages she wanted, leaving still huge amount inside.
She opened the big door and heard them talking outside so she called them.
"Guys! Storage!"
They realized she went there and saw her smiling brightly. "I turned on the main generator but I fear it will last just a few hours, will it be enough for you all to take these things to the island?'
" What about you?" Brian saw her smiling face as she pointed at packages.
"Just give me enough and when I need more you can always bring me some. It's safer than holding a bunch of stuff inside my apartment. And after all, after you finish building the main building on that island I will have to carry all the stuff with me. That's too bothersome."
Jasek nodded. "We won't be able to build it until next year so we will bring you enough food for you and kiddo until then."
Brian looked at Jasek's face and saw his expression. This is funny, this boy got again stupid thoughts in his head. Not again!
"Jasek..." he growled and saw the young man's face become bit stubborn. "Never mind. We will talk later."
They started packing all kind of stuff inside carts. She saw them parking the whole packages and rubbed her head.
"Uhm, wouldn't more of these fit in if you open the package and put inside cart's." She pointed at two packages of bottles that took over the whole cart.
Realizing what she just said they started unpacking and nicely filling the carts. Water, noodles, rice, cans, salt, sugar, oil, seasoning, dried stuff and much more.
Two guys pointed at two carts filled with all kind of sweet stuff and she started laughing. "I think we do need that. Shall we go now? I can feel the change of weather. I fear..." She saw two fluffy clouds passing by in speed and they realized what she said.
"What about that food?" She asked Brian.
"I left a dozen men on the island and let them get inside and take care of it. Looking at this stuff, I think we will need a few days to take with us." The sound of the carts reverberated through silent streets. Strangely not even sound of growling could be heard.
"I think you should block the bridge for now. At least it will hold them for a while." She pointed at the strange stream of zombies that as if they heard dome call all went to the other side of the bridge.
''Let us wait just a bit longer." That was the only bridge that was coveted so the zombies rushed over that one and not over other ones. He wanted to give them away to leave while Maria thought about big masses they might become.
"Brian, any of you have hoover with cam. I need to know where they are going. If they gather in one place, we might kill them in one go." She held the light ball in front of them and run.
They were lucky not far so when they rushed towards her building she suddenly stopped and turned around. She could literally see dark cloud appearing over the other side of town making her all giddy.
"Find someone to send anything flying that has a camera and let them inform us what is going on, now!" She had a bad premonition and stood inside the old elevator that in wonder was quickly upstairs.
Nick opened the doors and saw people rushing with carts over cart's filled with food and drinks and just throwing them on the floor making a mountain out of it.
Maria just shook her head. "Keep on doing that. I am going to the balcony, Brian and Jasek come with me."
As they went on balcony their breath stocked. A huge storm was brewing over the town and she shook her head. ''Tell your men in Mall to hurry up and transport as many things as possible. I fear when the storm starts, those things will come back.''
