The first few nights were fine.
There weren't any life threatening situations and everyone could sleep freely. On the contrary, the nights were rather lovely. It was becuase Yuna was sticking close to Vayve, holding his arm while sleeping.
Due to her status, Yuna had a lot of maids and people taking care of her on the daily basis.
Only in an academy, the small lady could face a little loneliness! It was due to her upright and overly honest attitude, then a new path that made her a 'weirdo' in the class.
Nevertheless, it was all fine as Yuna is still a kid.
Vayve just fixed a blanket, then locked his eyes on the starry sky. The nights were lovely, but is that how it should be for a MC?
'It's not MC like...'
As Vayve muttered inwardly, a huge howls suddenly rang out in his ears! It was so loud that everyone woke up including Yuna and Markas. Their deep kid like slumber could be only disturbed by the beasts!
Guoooooooooooo!
The howls were sounding as if belonging to a wolf.
Vayve had yet to properly check the situation, but the howls were continuously ringing in his ears with an amount that was hard to comprehend. The one thing was sure - there were a lot beasts around.
"Prepare! There is a huge horde of the Night Red Wolves!"
"What's the plan?!"
"Just calm down the horses and wait for us to make a path! We are already surrounded, so just stay calm within the carriage and pray!"
After older brother of Markas reassured the stricken with fear merchant, his eyes went around to properly gauge the whole situation. The beasts already made their appearance and it was clear that they are here to gather the meat!
The powerful wolves were all black and a little bigger than the ones from The Earth.
Their eyes were also shining way too much with that red tinge.
It was as if they were born to kill and eat a flesh! That's what Vayve assumed as the eyes were looking beautiful yet those jewels were surely filled with a thick killing intent. His small body was close to leaving the carriage, but then, the loud sound of the horses rang out as well.
The carriages began moving!
"What are they doing?"
"It's a beast's dust scent."
Of course, it was good that the merchant didn't panic and properly executed the orders. Vayve was asking for a strange item that the adventurers took out. The item was looking like a small bag holding something inside.
As they threw that small bag onto the ground, a silent dust enveloped them creating something akin to smoke screen.
"Good shit we had prepared well enough!"
"Yeah, there were rumours about them settling in this area."
The adventurers were well prepared for their journey. Since they knew their destination, they could buy enough of beast's dust scent! It's a item that masks their humanly scent completely muddling the senses of the beasts.
Every beast needs a different kind of beast's dust scent, so the preparation was a key here.
The path has been created using these small bags cleverly. Thanks to it, the merchant was all calm and could properly lead his carriages out allowing Vayve to just spectate the situation. Next to him was Yuna and Markas whose faces were both different.
One had seen many beasts already while other was now experiencing the wilderness by herself.
"This is similar to the feeling Vayve had shown me."
"Hmm... It's more... natural though."
"Everything should be fine now. The Night Red Wolves usually give up after losing their prey completely... Ah!"
After Markas ended his reassuring words, the carriage hit something hard! It shook violently causing the poor young man to squeal like a little girl! It was quite hard collision as Markas was close to falling off from the carriage.
His pitiful eyes narrowed, then he peeked to the side.
It was time to see what has forced them to stop!
"T-this is... mutated beast?!"
"!"
"Holy..."
Vayve muttered with slightly terrified voice. The beast that was blocking the carriages was way bigger than the common night red wolf. It was also looking graceful unlike their wild appearance with a fur that was flowing nicely.
Though beautiful, the mutated beast was eliciting a lot pressure just with its appearance. Looking at it caused the three kids to tremble with fear, then feel their hearts being clenched by something unknown.
Soon enough, the mutated wolf let out a terrifying howl that notified every other night red wolf about their preys anew.
The effects of the new item lost its influence relatively quickly!
This caused an unexpected, but surely dangerous situation to unfold!
The adventurers got forced to fight a whole horde while the merchant and his close aides were trembling like a little animals in front of that huge mutated beast. This situation made Vayve let out a shallow laugh.
'Now... this is a MC like situation.'
The adventurers were busy with a horde, then the merchant and his aides were completely useless. Only Vayve and his two friends could be useful and turn the dangerous situation around! However, can a group of three kids deal with such mutated beast?
"We won't know untill we try. This is a challenge! If we wound a beast, then it should surely affect the horde."
"I see! So we don't have to risk much!"
"If not killing, then at least wounding!"
Yuna and Markas steeled their hearts, then nodded to Vayve who was already taking the highest place possible. Unluckily enough, he got spotted mid-way by the beast... The situation was not so nice as he thought.
"We three should... face it!"
The attacks from a high distance won't work until Yuna and Markas somehow stop the beast. However, that would put them in a high danger and then, can Vayve's coin toss deal a lot damage to its skin?
There were a lot of questions and only a frontal attack could answer all of these!
