three days, three days has passed ever since the funeral of hyerin and everyone close to her has been a wreck, no one wanted her name to be mentioned as it only brought pain into their hearts, they missed her.
almost everyone who knew her did, all asked why such a sweet and kind girl had to go through so much pain? all alone, they might add. they were in deep regrets, they could've had ask her, if she was alright, if she was going through something, if she needed help, but they didn't, no one did.
the boys were given two weeks off, to be able to regain themselves again, to heal theirselves from such a tragic happening, all seven were in pain, all they felt was deep sorrow and regret as they kept on being reminded of hyerin's farewell.
namjoon was in dazed, he couldn't think straight for the past days as hyerin kept on bothering him, he was reminded of everything she had done for the group, from the home-cooked meals to the long messages from her to help them stay positive. he was the leader so he had to stay strong, but just every time hyerin would cross his mind, uncontrollable tears would fall suddenly from his eyes, like beads falling out, one by one silently, each one signifying the pain he felt.
jin, on the other hand, was also trying his best to stay strong. as he remembered he was the eldest, he became a shoulder the younger ones could lean on as they cried theirselves from all the pain, but that didn't mean it doesn't pain him as well. he was just devastated as the others, hyerin was the younger sister he had always wished for and when jimin introduced her to him, he felt such a sudden connection with the younger, like she was indeed a heaven sent gift to him. but sadly, his sister left too early before he could even get the chance to spoil her with lots of love and protect her from everyone who could break her, but too bad he never knew that she was already broken and he couldn't even do anything to help her heal.
yoongi was the same, he couldn't write any songs, any lyrics he had wrote the past days only reminded him of the girl, he felt nostalgic as he reminisced the memories he had made with hyerin, he remembered the days hyerin would knock on his door and ask him if she could be of any help, yoongi missed her. she was the first girl he became close and open with, he could easily smile around her and he wouldn't try to hide it. and now she was gone, he oath to himself he'd never forget her, he would never forget her smile, and if he could, he would consider hyerin as one of the great wonder's of the world.
hoseok, that ball of sunshine always tried to stay positive, he smiled away the negative thoughts as he knew hyerin wouldn't want to see them all worn out from crying but it doesn't mean he didn't. the past three nights, he would occasionally cry himself to sleep as he thought of the younger girl. not wanting the girl to miss out on anything, every night he'd looked outside his window and talk as if he was telling a story to hyerin, god, how much he missed his own sunshine as well.
and then there's taehyung, the guy who had fallen for the charms of the girl. he was as wreck as the others, he was in pain every time hyerin was brought up or mentioned around him, he missed her so damn much. he wished he could've told her everything he wanted her to know when they last talked on the phone, why did she have to leave? he asked himself from time to time, why did such a wonderful girl had to be taken away?
jungkook missed her as well, she was his shoulder, his ally in everything. he missed almost everything about her, the way she'd scold him whenever he'd do something that annoys her, those times when both of them would partner up in pranking the others, and those times they would just talk with each other about their lives. but most of all, he missed her voice, he reminisced the times when he'd call hyerin and just rant about everything, all those comforting words she'd tell him over the phone to calm him down. overall, he'd do anything — everything, just to see her again and to hug her again, they did promise to hang out soon, after all.
and lastly, jimin. park jimin who, like taehyung, had fallen for the girl. he was in deep regrets and guilt. he'd always blame himself for whatever happened to hyerin. every night, he'd remember their phone call, he'd remember the days hyerin kept on complaining about the pain, he'd just remember every hint hyerin possibly dropped out, she was asking for help, he would kept on repeating in his head, why didn't he notice it? why didn't he notice of how the girl was slowly dying? most of all, he regretted not confessing to her. but now, all he could think of is how to bring her back, how to see her again, or how he could be able to hear the sweet, loving voice of the girl he loves.
all had their ways of healing their pain but they didn't involve forgetting her, the seven of them had all kept a printed picture of hyerin with them in their rooms, to remind them of the girl, to remind them of jeon hyerin, who became such an important person to all of them.
-
"hyung, i've already placed another bed in my room." taehyung greeted the others, who are all seated on the kitchen table, jin helping jaehyun cut off his meat, "jaehyunie, you're staying with me, okay?" he ruffled the boy's hair before heading to his seat.
"hyung, you and noona's birthday is coming. can we visit her?" jaehyun looked up from his plate, all boys glanced at him, smiling at the young boy.
"of course we will, let's buy hyerin her favorite flowers." jin smiled, motioning jaehyun to eat his meal as he continued to eat his, as well.
a month had already passed, and they were all slowly healing. they went back to work, all trying their best to do well and work hard for they knew hyerin was watching them, and a successful comeback was something hyerin would want to happen.
ever since she had passed away, jaehyun was taken custody of jin as he was the eldest and he gladly volunteered for he knew hyerin would be happy to know that jaehyun was with them, all took turns in taking care of the boy, there were days when they'd all drive the kid to school.
everyday, they would remind the young boy that he was loved and that hyerin was just still with them, just not physically present, "we love you, hyerin loves you as well." they'd tell jaehyun, resulting a smiling young boy in return.
and the day finally came, it was hyerin and taehyung's birthday. all eight boys went to the current resting place of the girl, all kneeling down, they greeted her with warm smiles, "how's the weather up there, rin?" yoongi greeted, a smile still on his lips.
all took turns in greeting the girl and telling her few stories, "if you were still here, i mean i know you're still here, but physically here, i would take you out on a date." jimin smiled to himself, enjoying his ten minutes with hyerin, "why did you say goodnight when you meant to say goobye?" his voice was low, keeping what he asked between him and the girl.
"i hate goodnights now, you know." he let out a small laugh.
he further talked more and as he ended, the eight of them headed back to the apartment to celebrate the occasion, they ate lots of food, they were all a combination of hyerin and taehyung's favorites.
"bangtan hyungs," jaehyun started, he was currently seated at the couch with all the other seven surrounding him, "thank you, for taking care of me." he smiled, glancing at his older brothers who had kept him safe and sound these past few months.
"thank us when you're all grown up and married." namjoon jokingly said, ruffling the boy's hair as he was seated next to jaehyun, "and don't worry, we're all just here for you." he continued, flashing a smile to him.
"i'm not gonna get married, hyerin-noona is the only girl i will love." jaehyun crossed his arms as he continuously shook his head, a pout stayed on his lips.
all just laughed and proceeded to enjoy the rest of the day with the company of each other as they talked about hyerin and shared memories they had with her, after a while, they all made an oath to never replace hyerin as their number one girl in their hearts and even if they find a girl of their own, the oath should never be broken.
by the end of the day, they all knew by then that they were all healed, she wasn't just jeon hyerin anymore, she was their jeon hyerin, their favorite girl, their bestfriend, their sunshine, their family, their inspiration and their hope.
and it would never change until they meet her again, for goodbyes were only temporary and goodnights was just simply a hint that they will see her again, in the other life, when all pain is over and they have all as well reached their finish line with hyerin as their winning prize.
