Chapter 10 - Problems?

I finally got the three of us into the building, then dropped Eagle and Magician on the floor (violently, I might add). They both look at me like a stupid deer in the headlights. Honestly, they're hopeless. "Okay, where are we supposed to go? I can't lead us, you guys are the ones who work here."

"She's scary."

"No duh Magician, she's tried to escape twice. Obviously she's crazy."

"Get up." Both of them get up from the floor, and Eagle goes to grab the chain leading me.

"No, I told you, I want her."

"You never learn, do you?" They look like they're about to fight again, and I don't have time for this crap.

"What, you both want to lead the stupid chain? Be my guest." I form another chain out of clouds, and drift it over to Magician. "Everyone's happy, right? Let's go. You've already made me do too much work for today." I proceed to float myself lazily in the air again, waiting for them to take me somewhere.

"Fine, we'll have a truce for now."

"Watch yourself you stupid bird, she's gonna be mine."

"Whatever. She's right though, we really should get going to the opening ceremonies." They both glare at each other one more time, and then proceed to walk deeper into the building, dragging me along behind them. We enter a small tunnel, and then come out into a giant hall with a glass ceiling. There were already a ton of people in the building, with even more flooding in. We found a spot in the crowd to stand, and wait for something to happen. This is so boring, I hope something happens soon.

After waiting for what had to be at least twenty minutes, everyone was getting antsy and bored. Some kids were playing with their oddities, and others began chatting with each other. I started to float higher, trying to see if anything's gonna happen, but I went as far as the chain could stretch and was barely higher than the crowd.

"Come on, get back down here." Stupid bird.

"No, I want to get a look at the area. You should come fly next to me or something so I can get a look around."

"Seriously Nova? Everybody's gonna think you're weird if you fly around all chained up."

"Then take the chains off you stupid bird!"

"You know I can't do that, what if you run away again?" I roll my eyes at him.

"Even if she runs away, she was stopped when there were only two pros, I think the forty pros in the room can stop her. She's smart enough to know that, right?" Damn Magician trying to make a fool of me."

Sighing, Eagle reluctantly drags me back down, locking eyes with me. I stare back, trying to push all of my hatred through them towards him. Flinching, he takes the chains off me. I tense up, getting ready to bolt, but Magician pulls me towards him with his powers immediately.

"Don't try it, I already told you. You're mine." Ugh, creepy.

"I don't belong to anyone, sicko. Aren't you supposed to be a pro hero? I don't think you should talk like that." He turns away from me, blushing.

"Whatever. Eagle, go fly around with her."

"Why do I have to go with the psychopath?"

"If I'm a psychopath you guys are kidnappers!"

"I already told you, we're not kidnappers!"

"And I told you, I don't give a crap."

"Have fun Eagle." Magician interrupts our argument by launching us into the air. I catch myself easily, but Eagle fumbles quite a bit. I try to hold it in, but a little snicker escapes my mouth.

"Shut up." he says, clearly flustered.

As I fly around, he follows closely behind me. I thought about trying to escape, but I can feel the eyes of several people following me, most likely pro heroes. I'm not gonna be able to escape this place, am I?

Whatever, back to looking around. It looks like there's about four hundred people in the room, about three hundred of them are probably students, the rest are either teachers or pro heroes. That's all just my guess, though. There's a giant glass dome above the entire room, allowing the sun to shine in. It looks like that's the only form of lighting. The entire room is circular, and there's a hanging platform on the side of the room with a door leading to another room in the building. There are a few balconies in the room, but there aren't any people standing in them currently. Other than that, there's really nothing special about the room.

As I'm flying myself in lazy circles above the crowd looking at the sky through the glass, Eagle hovers near me, looking around the room and muttering to himself.

"Where are they, they've never taken this much time."

"Who 'ya talking about?" I ask, popping up next to Eagle.

With a start, he turns and looks at me. "Damn, stop being such a creep. It's nothing you should be worried about."

"Oh really?" I give him a skeptical look and then continue flying in circles. He goes back to muttering to himself like a madman. I don't get how he made it to be a pro hero. The only redeeming quality about him currently are his wings. Other than that he doesn't seem all that appealing as a hero. But, I can't really talk. I've never been super involved with the heroes, I actually don't know like any of them. Unlike other kids, I don't care for them.

Suddenly I see a group of dark shadows fly across the window, landing on the top of the dome which is covered by an Iron plate. I fly closer to the dome, but I still can't see anyone's faces. However, I did see one of them begin to melt the edge of the plate, trying to break in. They're probably villains. Even if they're not, they can't be doing anything good. The plate they're standing on is big enough that it covers at least fifty people below. If it breaks, they could all die. What should I do?

I probably should leave it to the pros, but it doesn't look like anyone besides me noticed them. The only person near me is Eagle, and he doesn't seem to be in a great mindset right now. I don't think I have time to fly down to him anyways, the people on the dome are already almost a third of the way done with cutting the plate. Maybe I should… oh dear. I'm so gonna be dead after this, but it's the only thing I can think of.

"Hey Eagle!" I shout down, just loud enough for him and only him to hear me. "I'll explain later!" He looks up at me, confused at first. Then he sees my face and what I shouted dawns on him. His expression shifts to a panicked look, and begins to fly towards me trying to stop me. It's too late, though. Sighing, I realize he probably thinks I'm trying to escape. Oh well, this is an emergency. I'm definitely gonna be screwed if he catches me, though. I make a box of wind around him, pushing him back when he tries to escape.

Dear Arcane, help me now. I charge at the window as fast as I can, confident that I can break through it. I create a spear of wind in front of me, just in case the glass is reinforced. As I hit the glass, the panel shatters loudly, drawing the attention of everyone. Once people look up, though, they don't see anything except a low flying cloud passing by. Lounging on the cloud, I pick up the fallen glass and blow it out the building so nobody gets hurt. As much as I don't like the heroes, the students don't deserve to be hurt by my stupid actions.

Turning my attention to the figures on the panel, I get ready to fight.
