Chapter 8 - Finally making it into the school

Erin was so surprised at what she had helped to do but knew she must have had the gods help to perform such a fantastic feat. She was led back towards the hall by a constantly talking Bug and a equally quiet Oval still looking at the precious fruit she held in her hand. It had been a true miracle and she had missed it all, Erin couldn't even remember what had happened after the spell was cast.

Entering the hall Erin was very surprised when everyone stopped talking and eatting to stare at her. It sent shivers down her back due to its strangeness but she didn't feel animosity this time it was just too unusual. She pushed Bug forward and ducked a little then followed, dam she should have shoved Oval in front he would have been much easier to hide behind.

Finally the people started to talk again when they had made it about 1/2 way to their usual seats. By the time they sat down and food was served most of them had stopped starring and pointing. Erin was so hungry her slurping of her food almost covered up all the whispering going on around them.

As their dishes were cleared a tall presence shining from godly powers appeared on the front stage. Erin was amazed that she finally got to see the God Thoth his words seemed to designate within her soul. As he talked about the history, traditions and responsibilities of the teachers and students we felt it take promonence in our minds.

When he announced his pride that all those present had managed their first steps into the new world of further education it finally struck me that I had made it as well. Erin was so happy that she almost stood up and hollowed out in joy. Oval must have sensed her joyful intentions because he held her down and covered her mouth.

Soon he finished his speech and everyone started cheering and clappingm, so Oval also let her whoop it up as well. Erin took a while to take it all in, the others had already had time to take in their new status while to Erin, she had just heard. They appearently had taken measurements of all students and handed out uniforms for them to wear. Erin was a little freaked to knew they had taken hers when she was out cold. However with her new uniforms in hand nothing could bring her down.

They were taken into a new room into which a portal was visible and then told that in the morning after breakfast they would be transported to the school. The school actually rested between the nearby mountain tops and stretched across over a thousand acres of land. This was the only way into and out of the school so everyone was advised to make sure they didnt miss this opportunity to enter or they would have to start all over again.

Erin felt a chill go down her back but would make it there not matter what or who stood in her way. She knew that this would be the last chance for someone to stop her from entering the school. Erin wondered why someone would try so hard to stop her a nobody, from going there. Who hated her tribe or God that much they were the most peaceful and non aggressive of the gods and their followers.

Erin felt her life was really at risk so she set up numerous traps around her room, no one could get to that pig pen without making a lot of noise and receiving numerous surprises. She even asked the momma pig and her babies to go to the empty pig pen next door, she made sure to grow them some great things to eat and sleep upon.

She even set up loud stink bombs that if set off would cause temperary blindness as well as a smell that would take months to fade away. If she was going out she planned to make her murderers remember her at least for while. In addition she had set up super quick sand pits as well as spiked pits which even though they were short spikes they should be able to disable someone trying to sneak in.

Finally she felt confident enough to try to sleep after reinforcing the walls with rocks and a magic shield. Even the wood in the distance were set up as well. Just as she was drifting off she heard someone yelling weakly for help. Unexpectedly it was a single house and no other sounds. After carefully looking out what she saw made her take off running to help.

When she arrived she only saw two arms sticking out of a quick sand trap, first she grab the skinny arm and pop out came a small gnome named Bug. The next arm which held cookies on a plate. was, grabbed next, she rescued both, the dwarf named Oval looked very relieved.

She asked them to close their eyes for a bit and blasted them with a wind spell to blow as much sand off them as possible. Once done Bug gave her a,evil look, "What the hell was that? We came to celebrate with you and end up almost dying, I even lost the punch I was bringing for us to drank. We are just lucky that Oval manage to save the cookies!"

"I am really sorry guys but I warned you, some one might try to get rid of me tonight and I just want to make sure I can protect myself. You all will have to leave of you can stay and watch what happens?" "Erin I'm staying to eat cookies let them come?" With that said both sat and started to eat cookies. Erin smiled at their support and brought over a pitcher with fresh ice cold water in it.

Even if nothing happens she would at least have a great last day with her friends, it was not long till they all drifted to sleep. Bug still was talking in his sleep who could not appreciate that. Late that night a mage observed her traps and was very impressed then went back to his client to tell him it was impossible to do. She walked through the portal the next day happily.
