"LAONE! If you don't get your ass down here in the next quarter second you will be dragging it to the church in the cold." Mother screamed at Laone as she dashed through the house in her gown and slippers.
"Why in the world should I put on a dress in this cold, it looks like it will start raining cats and dogs at any minute now." Laone backed with as much energy as his mother, he was in his best jeans and he had no intention of changing into something else.
After exiting his room he ran into his mother in the hallway, her lips screwed tight and her nose letting off steam from her blood boiling. She raised one finger at her son who snuggled up in a big winter jacket. "I thought I told you," she paused went back to her bedroom.
In response to the instincts that told him that she was most likely going to try and whoop him, he ran to the kitchen to grab his breakfast and run straight to the car. Although she was pissed off by Laone not listening to her she had other things in mind.
Downstairs was Laone's younger sister Oratile, she was sitting on the couch keeping score of Laone versus mom, an endless blood war. She had on a pink sweater, a white high waist skirt with black polka dots, knee socks, and a pair of red high heels. She was elegant beyond compare, but Laone had no time eye his sister. He ran past her so fast he forgot that was originally slow.
"The Hailmary family, known to the public as a normal family with a deep Christian history rumored to be older than Botswana's very independence. But what people do not know is that this family is SECRETLY HUNTING MONSTERS AND KEEPING THE WORLD SAFE FROM FORCES OF EVIL. How do you like that, will it fly?"
A boy relaxing down on the pastor's chair in the office exclaimed as he spun around and around ith all the enthusiasm in the world.
"Andrew you are an idiot you know that, no one will read your fairytales why don't you think of something people your age would enjoy?"
Said a young girl carefully putting back the pastor's books into his shelf, said the young girl had twin tails carefully crafted on her head. They fell down and abruptly came to a halt by her shoulders. She read the titles on the book with her bleached red eyes staring lightly from behind her reading glasses.
This young beauty had no makeup on so her golden-brown skin lit up her face, she turned her attention to her childhood friend Andrew who was currently on her father's seat. Andrew was one of the stars of the football team and but unlike his friends who enjoyed the company of their fellow females. Andrew preferred the company of words.
His passion which was considered weird by his comrades did not take away from his popularity because he was still a wet dream to many. A handsome, athletic, and learned boy could not be traded for anything better in this world. Andrew hopped off the chair and went over to his friend while stroking his small boy goatee.
He grabbed Bontle's shoulders and said, "I mean you guys are basically keeping a vampire in your Church and your old family name is badass. I wonder if we would be allowed to use it if we get married."
Bontle broke away from his arms and walked towards the door, "Moremi is not a vampire and your girlfriend would be pissed if she heard you say."
The door slowly grew open and in walked Bontle's father, the pastor himself.
"And I would not want you as a son in law, go outside and help Rei with setting up the chairs for the youth meetup." He gave his daughter a light pat in the head and shoved Andrew out of his way when he walked by.
"Preacher man, I left my notes on your desk good stuff I swear you will not be disappointed in the slightest. Get back to me once you are ready to let the world know that you killed vampires and abducted their kid."
Andrew pushed Bontle out as he sent his thoughts to her father. The giant build of a man put his fist up to his mouth as he went through Andrew's documents. He sighed and thought, 'he can't handle the truth in all actuality I do no see Andrew Slaymen being able to handle the truth.'
Outside the Kgang family finally arrived and Laone dashed out of the car his mother losing her mind over him. He walked around aimlessly until is his sister came to join him, and together they walked to the youth meet.
"Why do you enjoy pissing mom off?"
"Why does mom enjoy pissing me off?"
Laone stormed off and disappeared into the main Church building, and as he walked through going to the back he felt as if everyone had their eyes on him and started getting a weird feeling.
In between the fights with his mother he had always thought of asking about his father's whereabouts. He had a lot of things he wanted to know, did the changes he was going through have anything to do with him. Or were they because of his unnatural birth, he had not the courage because they could have been brought up by the sudden appearance of the app?
Laone ran into someone and instead of looking up he just planted his head on that person's chest like he wanted to be held and told that it would be okay. That was exactly what happened whoever Laone ran into outside the main church building was kind enough to put their arms around him and said.
"It will be okay?"
"What?" Laone broke the hug off and backed away, he had just come back from his boundless thoughts. He looked carefully at the good-willed person who hugged and there stood a white boy with dark blue eyes.
"Rei, we were called out here to help you. But no would rather spoon than set the chairs." Andrew approached with Bontlebehind him, his tone was rather cheerful and was dissing Moremi in a friendly manner.
Bontle quickly walked over and dragged Moremi away from Laone, she glared at him and recognized him. "Oh hey, you are Oratile's older sister right?"
Laone's face drew disgust and he responded, "no you have it all wrong. I am actually her pet zebra."
Confused, Bontle's brain temporarily shut down, "excuse me?"
"I said yeah. By the way, my name is Laone and we are in the same class."
"Oh that's right you are Thato's girlfriend, I think it kind of never crossed my mind since we never talk."
'Really bitch? I have been coming to this Church for the past decade now.' Laone silently thought as he walked past Andrew to the small building for the youth meet.
Bontle looked at Moremi whose eyes stayed on Laone, 'that was a close call. I cannot let anybody get between me and Rei, I still to gather up my courage to confess to him.
'That person had a weird scent.' [Rei thoughts on Laone]
'Damn was she always that pretty?' [Andrew thoughts on Laone]
Andrew and Bontle are in the same grade as Laone, Moremi is taking advanced classes to prepare for studying overseas. All of them went inside for the youth service and to make things awkward for them Laone was sat right between Rei and Bontle.
Throughout the whole service, Andrew tried to swap seats with Bontle, he wanted to get closer to Laone while she wanted to keep an eye on her.
As for Laone, he wanted to be hanged on the spot because he could not stand being around popular kids especially after what happened earlier. Rei wanted to talk to Laone about earlier but he could not out of respect for the church rules.
It was proven to be a possible error on his part because after the service Laone hurried over to the car. He was supposed to greet the elders as the pastor's son but he fled the seen to go and see Laone.
Before the door to the SUV was open wide enough to hop inside it was suddenly pushed back. Laone checked the hand and there was a glove on it, luckily he recognized the scent and knew what to expect when he looked back to see Andrew.
