She was back on Laone's side again and she was flustered beyond rational description. Her glare was almost hot enough to pierce through Laone's skull, however he ignored her.
Laone kept his eyes glued on his card which was branded with collectable meaning that it was a character good enough to be mass produced. This of cause meant that Laone will get paid everytime the character is bought, or whenever it is featured in console releases.
Bontle snatched it from his hand, "for how long are you going to ignore me?"
"I am not ignoring you and why are you on Thato's seat?"Laone still did not look a Bontle when he talked, Bontle was caught off guard so she just stunned by Laone's question.
"He, he... Your boyfriend wanted to socialize with other girls, do you have any idea why?" Bontle suddenly got her confidence and she wore it with a smug finally having a response to Laone.
"Since you are finally able to talk again, how did that coward ask the pastor's daughter for an opportunity to flirt? How did he approach you and since when was I dating him, neh miss preacher do you enjoy rumors too?"
Bontle was completely shut down and lacked a response for Laone, Laone took his card back from her. Laone paid no attention to Bontle because he had much more things to worry about, like Billie and Ki Lord both being challenged to defend their royalty the same night.
This excited Laone so much that he drowned the outside world and thought about trying to use his dials in the game. The challenge was a week away because the game company needed to hype it up for more money.
The hype train also came with an extra event where player would have to fight their way to the arena even with their tickets in hand. It was a bother because Laone wanted all of his avatars to be there on standby.
Another thing which had Laone occupied was the explosion that occurred yesterday involving a possible dialer. Even without much to work on Laone already gathered that dials cannot be seen by normal people otherwise there would have been an uproar and that dials have two forms.
The first form being the one that fuses with one's body like it once happened to him, the second one being the dials manifesting independently. Ivy and Iris were testament to this and to fusion part was confirmed by the suicide student.
A new question now was why would anyone with power want to kill himself, was it because he thought he killed another student and was afraid of prison.
'
Laone paused and thought back to the events, no that cannot be it, there must be something else. 'I should not concern myself with this but I can't help but feel insecure and uneasy, if there is something out there that can force a dialer into that situation then I am fucked.'
"Oy are you okay weirdo?" Bontle was starting to worry because Laone had been staring at his cards without even blinking the whole time.
Laone decided to borrow some of Bontle's intellect for a few, "if you had power what would you do with it?"
Bontle obviously did not appreciate this question because it caught her off guard, she looked to Laone with terror and had a loss for words. Laone noticed this change and thought that it might make her suspect him of something doggy.
"Shees what's wrong with you I was just talking about my cards, your acting like you are hiding something." He decided to turn the tables on her, and worked too well. Bontle's heart raced but for only a second and she calmed herself down suspiciously fast.
Laone paid no heed to it though and decided to continue picking her brains, "have you thought about yesterday's incident? Do you think that it could have anything in common with what happened in the other schools?"
"I don't know... Honestly I think they do and this worries me very much, me and the other kids at church decided to to have a rally to raise caution on this new issue that we are facing. It could be terrorists you know, anyway how do you feel about joining us?"
"I'll pass thank you, but don't you think that the idea of terrorists is a bit too far fetched this might just be the work of crazy students."
"Either way it still puts people's lives in danger and if I can't do anything about it then I have failed my duties..." The last part was whispered but Laone still caught the phrase "as a guardian" he did not want to arouse suspicion by bringing it up and instead he played ignorant.
"What was that last part you mumbled?"
Bontle snapped back into herself but kept her her head down, "it was nothing, I just thought that it was a bummer that you don't want to join us."
"Since when, besides I don't like people." Laone went back to exermining his cards to see how they could help him in the upcoming brawls.
Bontle shocked by what she interpreted as rudeness fell again to Laone's indifference. Truth is she only wanted Laone there so she can observe her closely, she did not expect a loner to decline a shot at popularity.
"It's just a church event." Bontle turned her head and saw saw Laone looking her in her eyes, 'did she just read my mind?' She thought.
"You were looking at me like I turned down a date with God," and with those words Laone left. She went out the door to go and break apart her almost worthless conversation with Bontle.
First of all Bontle is not the type of girl to lose her cool, this meant that she knew and was hiding something. The way she bounced back to her calm state was also a cause for alarm, Laone agreed that for now Bontle and two guys she hung around with were possible enemies.
Laone also told herself to stay away from Setso because of his relation to that beta that gave her the creeps while she was out with her sister.
Laone on her own decided to declare war against all dialers which do not sit well with her senses. Right now no one was to be trusted until she is free from the feeling that she might be chased by someone related to the guy who attacked her.

"Interesting!" The figure from that other chapter laughed, but this time it had nothing to do with Laone.
