Chapter 58 - Good things in a bad time

Arthur sat silently in as the Lecture Hall Elder explaining the differences between Lava Attributed Fae and Fire Attributed Fae.

Most of the new young Fae Masters listened intently to this new Lecture, including Randolf, who found himself drawn towards both Fire and Lava Attributed Fae.

His Origin Fae was crimson fae, which was a offensive type Fire Attributed Fae, and his second fae was flamespike fae, which was a defensive Fire Attributed Fae.

Having someone explain the differences and importance of variations and the different effects that these similarly Attributed Fae can give was the greatest importance to the current Randolf.

Not so much the young man sitting beside him, who kept tapping his fingers on his desk as he gazed out the window.

Arthur narrowed his eyes.

It had been a few days since he properly refined the vein limit fae and used it to enhance his origin essence regeneration.

Even if his origin essence sea limit didn't reach Randolf's level, his origin essence regeneration definitely did.

'But that's not what is important here. What I need to deal with, is this annoying little fly who keeps following me around....'.

Arthur's expression turned into one of distaste for a second, before regaining his normal expression.

Even if his body was only that of a Rank 1 Fae Master, his mind and senses were that of a Fae Immortal. Arthur's attainment of Fae exceeded that of what a Fae Master normally allowed, and his senses were much sharper than the average Rank 1 Fae Master.

Even if this "geezer" did have a Fae that could hide them, they couldn't keep it up forever. They weren't a Rank 9 Fae Immortal, so how could they have infinite origin essence?

Even if Arthur couldn't determine where exactly this "fly" was looking at him from, he could still feel their gaze on his body. The intent behind it wasn't nearly as strong as killing intent, but Arthur could still feel the desire behind it.

There were only a handful of people in the Village that could spy on Arthur without repercussions.

No Rank 2 Fae Master would be able to spy on the son of the Clan Leader without facing serious consequences.

Which could only mean-.

'That it's a Rank 3 Fae Master. Someone who has the right to become an Elder within the Kovacs Clan'.

That narrowed down Arthur's potential candidates to a list of about 20-30 individuals.

Of course, he could cross of the Elder's that he had seen while feeling the gaze on his body, which eliminated four different Elders.

He didn't need to think it was the Medicine Hall Elder either, his grandfather was usually much to busy researching or healing Fae Masters to spend his time spying on him.

The Regulations Elder was crossed out too.

There was no chance in hell that the righteous Regulations Elder of the Kovacs Clan would ever resort to spying on a junior. If Arthur's memories told him one thing, it was that the Regulations Elder would even sacrifice his own flesh in exchange for the future of the Kovacs Clan.

The chance of him being the one to spy on Arthur, the "future" of the Clan was almost non-existent.

Arthur sighed slightly tilting his head back.

'That still leaves roughly two dozen different Elders', Arthur thought.

Elder Anatol was crossed off, his time obviously spent watching the Clan Reserves.

There was an Elder which guarded the Prison, near where the Hatred Fae formed.

There were usually two Elders in the Weapons Hall and Knowledge Hall which was located near where the Elders Hall was.

The Weapons Hall hid the valuable weapons which Fae Masters could use if they didn't possess any Fae, and did possess one or two Weapons which could stand up to Fae in the event that they were needed.

While the Knowledge Hall recorded all of the secrets and collective knowledge and wisdom of the Kovacs Clan. It was essentially a library, but one couldn't go in there freely, without at least being an Elder before hand.

In the Knowledge Hall, Fae Formula and secrets about complimentary Fae could be found. The research of the Kovacs Clan after several generations could all be found within the Knowledge Hall.

Arthur's list of potential candidates lowered and lowered by the minute.

Even if he was the son of the Clan Leader, a position which came with many perks, he wouldn't be able to investigate an Elder without a sufficient reasoning behind it.

Those Elders in positions of actual authority, like Elder Velika or the Medicine Hall Elder wouldn't even try to investigate Arthur so openly. They wouldn't try and jeopardise their positions within the Clan or even give the Clan Leader a reason to dismiss them.

This meant that it could only be one of the Elders who wouldn't have anything in particular to lose, if they were to be exposed.

Perhaps their authority as an Elder might be taken away, but other than that, they wouldn't lose out too much.

Arthur frowned once more.

'That can only mean that they believe they can gain something if they watch me, and follow me around. If they suspect me of having something that they could use for themselves then....'.

Arthur took in a deep breath.

He needed to get rid of this "Elder" before anything else happened.

Perhaps he could lure him outside the boundaries of Parachenko Village and take care of him?

Lay out a trap and ambush him the moment he got close?

It could definitely work, especially if he used the camouflage fae.

Arthur frowned again but shook his head.

By now the entirety of the Village knew about his camouflage fae, as well as its weakness.

With only a Rank 1 cultivation Arthur would be killed before he had a chance to do anything, especially against a Rank 3 Fae Master.

Not only was their origin essence regeneration much faster than his own, but his opponents physical strength would be higher too. Far greater than Dominic's or Chensa's.

A Rank 3 Fae Master, even one that didn't specialise in strength, could probably snap his arm even if he used the metal arms fae.

'No. No. I have to be smart about this. I'm working against someone in the Clan, not two Fae Masters that I found in the forest. I won't just need an excuse, I'll need witnesses....'.

That way, even if Arthur were to expose this Elder, there would be no-one capable to denying his words. A witness worked in his favour, and more witnesses to back up his allegations just kept on adding more nails to the coffin.

If he could somehow find a way to get people outside the Village. Outside where it would be impossible for them to escape.... Then perhaps Arthur could get rid of this fly and have a valid excuse as to why he got rid of them....

'An Elder.... watching the son of the Clan Leader.... directly after a "spy" had been "found"....'.

A small malicious glint appeared in Arthur's eyes.

The existence of a spy had been fabricated by him, but it wasn't as though no-one fit the image of a spy.

So long as there was both evidence, and a plausible explanation, perhaps Arthur might be able to swing this on its head.

He let out a small laugh, only perceptible to the person sitting beside him.

Randolf lifted his head and peered towards Arthur, who had a strangely polite smile on his face.

He shivered.

'I don't want to be the person that Arthur is thinking of', he thought to himself.
