Chapter 18 - Getting started

Having caused several man and woman to cower because of her outburst, Aros sighed again.

"Alcohol or drugs?"Aki imediatly offered.

"I use neither unless they give bonuses, besides, I'm at core bearing stage (Lv 71-80), so I doubt you have anything that would work on me." She rejected while scratching the back of her head. "Thanks for offering, but I really don't want to spend too much time on this planet becuase of a heap of space munbo jumbo that most of you would not have the slightest clue about, don't tell them now." She broadly said at first, but then turned to Aki and stopped him before he could formulate any sounds with his mouth. "What you all NEED to know..." She emphataised the words and looked around to see how much people were paying attention to her, some suddenly standing back from their plans and schemes and looking at her. "Is that your planet is screwed. In fifeteen days the first dimentional shift will become noticeble and the whole biosphere will be flooded with a new level of energy. Some people may imediatly die from this if they are too weak even by mortal parameters, but otherwise everyone on the planet should have an awakening of their actual talent at around the same time. A lot of people will be set uncouncious by the sheer amount of changes their bodies will pass through, so there needs to be a lot of preparations about...." As she focused on the old geezers that seemed to absorb evereything she said while thinking about their future implications at the same time, she remenbered something important. "Another thing, if any of you kill this guy here you won't get any benefits and possibly doom your entire civilization since it would lose access to help from a divine patron until it entered the rule of another chosen, which isn't garateed to happen for a multitude of reasons everyone here should be smart enough to understand by the simple fact that two months after the first shift there will be a lot of connections to other planets and sub realms in the surroundings, so there will be an incesant horde of monsters that will strike from anywhere and pretty much everywhere. Another reason you won't want to try killing him is because..." She was interrupted as the field arround her suddenly started being drained to fuel both the formation of a dantian and it's further refinement until full capacity in a matter of momments. The dilating field still had tons of energy, but that wasn't the point. "All chosen are badass and geniuses, generaly without morals and or limits. They break through faster than everyone else for multitudes of reasons that don't make sense even to me." She practically complained as Aki entered the Warrior stage and began forming his dantian, which is bassicaly another organ that would strenghten his efficiency in everything, right in front of everyone so as to have better chances of leaving the conference and having a say in what would happen next.

"I'm done. Did you begin explaining about other realms already?" Aki said as he got up.

"Yes. Congratulations, by the way, that was the fastest advancement I've ever seen. Hope you're not doing a shody work just because you are the weakest chosen." She reprimanded.

"Of course not, it's perfection or nothing." He shrugged, not needing to prove anything.

"Anyways." She sighed. "Even if you don't want to hand power over to this fucker, he is going to be invaluable so listen to his opinions when he has then, but no need to base yourselves solely on him. Again, he is the weakest chosen I've seen till now but you should not let that remain true forever, there's a reason he's a chosen. Boy, any chance you'd share your general affinity levels?" She asked, basically presenting him as a commodity.

"By general level you mean the total of levels summed and divided by the number of affinities?" He asked, getting a nod. "I have 68 levels divided over sixteen affinities, giving me a score of 4,25 and focusing on body enhancement." He explained.

It may not be wise to reveal your power to so many people, but nevermind that there isn't a counter for with sixteen diferent affinities, anyone present can understand that with being average on everything, that ment his body received a shit ton of benefits that were equal if not better than someone specializing on one or another thing.

Even the spirit realm cultivators present paled a bit.

The earthling was completly flabbergasted since that was almost double his own 'level' in someone with less than half his cultivation. No wonder he could advance so fast, the fucking world was practically pumping him full of energy and luck all the time!

As for the emissary, she was actually much more surprised than anyone present. With that kind of level, it ment he could reach spirit realm at neck breaking speed. At the very least he had everything on his general levels, but that was highly unlikely even with people with less affinities, nevermind fucking 16 diferent ones.

Even after surpassing his average, he'd still have a smooth and fast sailing until nascent soul formation (91-100) if he has even just one affinity at level 6.

Nevermind the difficulty in learning profound truths, with this many levels he'd have no problem with one or two. She really didn't want to imagine what he would actually accomplish though.

More importantly.

"I guess that's about it. Don't expect help or any contact from space civilizations before a whole year before the cluster has stabilized. I will be inside my ship with the chosen so we can discuss some things, but the distortion field should go down in a bit. Discuss among yourselvels and when I come out again I will try my best to help out. Killing ancient beasts and such is very necessary, but I won't be staying for long, so everyone needs to cooperate." She said and entered her ship, which had long left camouflage.

"Anything I can help you with?" Aki asked after walking up the hangar on the sleek vehicle. It was quite similar to a arrow with two teeth in the frontserving as Blades, but it was obviously quite bigger.

"Yes." She said, turning back with a very serious expression. "I don't know how you made yourself not explode with the amount of things shoved inside you soul, but know this, if it pops, it's going to do a lot more than just kill you, so don't try to go over your limits, ok?" The pressure she released was enough to literraly make Aki go to his knees, then his palms. Then laugh and giggle. "What's so funny?"

"I'm not even close to my limit. I have a skill that makes my soul able to handle a whole lot more pressure. I'd appresiate if you have one for the body too." He explained, the woman so flabergasted she found herself stopping her aura. One must know, souls usually only start to grow after the cultivator reaches the spirit rank, but Aki's level was still higher then the one the woman in front of him had. Not by much, mind you, but if you have been paying attention, you certainly noticed these things can stack high. "Any chance you have some esoteric affinity you'd be willing to share in exchange for another I have in my repertoire?" He proposed.

"Are you hitting on me?" She imediatly reacted, mostly surprised he'd suggest sex so readily. Then again, some cultures were weird and he was kind of cute. How many months had it been since she'd last done it again?

"I'm also fairly good at accumpunture and know how to do it without any kind of intimate contact, but if you're up to it I wouldn't say no unless you wanted to try and explode me or something." He chuckled while getting up from his knees.

"You wouldn't have blood, space and lighting, right?" She smiled.

*****

Suddenly opening his eyes, his body screamed at him to go back to bed and sleep. Aki was used to ignoring this until his coffee was ready, but seeing the naked lady to his right drooling a bit, he took a bit of time to remenber what happened last night.

'Right, rough dual cultivation with a lot domination. I had no idea I could like being the top so much.' He mused, staring at the hazel eyes looking back at him.

"Right, you should be too tired to leave." She said while blinking few times. "You want anything? I have a lot of food stored." She offered, both getting up at about the same time and not letting their eyes wander despite their previous behavior.

"This is weird." He said, getting a serious nod. "I'm guessing this was the first time either of us did sex purely for benefits." He offered.

"You could say that. I wasn't even in the mood. I guess we should eat or something?" She wondered. This wasn't like her.

Sure, she'd been offered similar opportunities before, as had every female cultivator, but why had she accepted this one right now? Was she that lonely? Did he think she was some kind of slut now? Would this interfere with her work? Had his ass gotten nicer throughout the night?

"How do you want your coffee?" He offered, a white cup containing a black liquid extended towards her.

"What is this?"

"Oh, right, you're not from earth. It's a bitter beverage that has a weak poison capable of forcing the brain to start. It can also be taken with cream and sugar if you don't like the taste." He explained while taking a sip in his white cup filled with red hearts.

"Not the weirdest thing I've ever heard off, let me see this." Sipping the drink, she ended up exclaiming in surprise. "This is quite good! I don't much like bitter things, but this feels just right." She told him before nursing her cup with closed eyes.

Aki felt a pang of pride in his chest at that, so he smiled at her.

"If the love birds are done, you two should go back to business. It's already been 38 hours since landing." Said the robotic voice of the ship, completely surprising the both of them.

Aki because he did not know there was one, and Aros because she had a maximum of 48 hours on each planet, but until now she had never even spent a day on each, so If she had to explain why she loitered around...

"Get dressed now, you're helping." She said in a tone that left no room for disagreement. Aki imediatly agreed, even though he could perfectly shrugh off the mental command.

*****

Six hours later, Aki had completly leeched off his planetary visitor and gotten partial rewards for tons of kills

There was a surprisingly high amount of spirit realm beasts all over the planet, mainly under water, but there were quite a lot of eastern dragons around some areas of China.

Aki even killed one himself, getting inside the mouth of a sleeping one and carving away at it's flesh until he broke the brain. In the mean time, the train conductor had already killed thirty something more.

He wasn't complaining though, looting dragon blood was quite good even if it was of the lowest purity. This whole battling around also helped him raise his attributes so he was now quite closer to reaching peak warrior than he'd estimated.

Granted, that wasn't his biggest benefit from this trip.

"You mean this spell seed can make me able to rapidly decifer diferent kinds of coding not magically encrypted against it? Doesn't that mean it can be further enhanced in several ways so as to be able to translate even more complex coding or even one specific code?" Aki asked, shocked there was such convenient thing around and that it costed so little to galatical citizens.

"I mean, yeah, but that is literally one of the hardest things to do in the universe. Only wrinkly scholars even try." Explained Aros as she carried him towards the next location.

Aki nodded, completly understanding how such thing would be a scrupulous and thankless job. "I would greatly appreciate a copy of it's script."

"It's the minimum I can do, you're the first chosen that isn't a completely criptic asshole. Trading with you also doesn't seem too bad in case you survive." She non chalantly answered.

"Right, trading." He smirked.

"Hey, I'm the leader of a large mercenary band, I'm serious here." She rolled her eyes.

"You're surprisingly nice to be around for the leader of a large mercenary group." He countered.

"What do you mean? It takes a lot of carisma to be a good leader." She frowned.

"I ment as a woman idiot." He giggled.

This made her blush a bit. It'd been about a decade since someone even dared to try something like that. It really isn't that bad, but not what she should be doing and she told her charge so.

"It's fine, you think i have time to create a weakness for myself before i garantee my own survival? I mostly want a friend and contact on the universe. If we're both free by the time it is feasible, i will court you though." Aki smiled at her, who simply threw him at the next monster, and he didn't need any more incentive to stop talking.
