Chapter 9 - Chapter 8

Heading home I check cars on the way and find a jeep with the keys still inside. Wonderful. Now I can use it. As I approach my house I see there is a single zombie impaled on the fence. Why? Nothing should have drawn him over there? I walk up cautiously and smash his head with my pipe. Looking around I don't see anything. Hmm. Must have just wandered this way. Oh well. I unpin him off the fence and drag him across the road before heading in the house. After taking a shower and tossing my clothes in the wash I have dinner and check the tv. Same as before. Blue screen no signal... Why do I even bother? I finish my dinner of raviolis and crackers and head upstairs to go to bed. Tomorrow's gonna be a rough day.

I wake up as dawn is peaking out over the valley. After a dry breakfast I head out to the garage and grab a hose and the 2 gas cans. I walk out to the road and after making sure all is clear I head toward my target. This will either be a brilliant idea. or the worst ive ever had. I spend around an hour siphoning gas out of cars to fill up the gas cans. After that I walk back to the jeep. I keep an eye out as I start it up and put it in drive. It takes me only 5 minutes to get to the top of the hill and I quickly turn it off. Getting out I see the zombies still down there not really changing much from yesterday. I remove the hand towel from my bag and stuff it it the gas tank. adding a little gas on it I put the jeep in neutral and after lighting the towel I push it down the hill. I watch as it speeds down the hill before smashing into the flipped truck and another vehicle. it doesn't take long before the jeep is engulfed in flames. The zombies shuffle towards the loud crash as I just watch and hope. I look around and see nothing near me but maybe I should. *KABOOM *CRASH. And there it goes. Flame is spilling across the road and alot of the zombies are flat on the ground. Some are on fire but I need to move. No telling how many near here heard that and are now heading this way. I rush down the path I found the day before and quickly fimd myself by the farm shop. Looks like around 27 didn't get hurt at all while around 20 are on fire and maybe 10 or so are missing chunks. Slipping into the store I quickly close the door and lock it. I begin emptying shelves of seeds into my bag while keeping an eye out. I cant believe that worked. I continue to grab everything I think I'll need and I hear a faint *chip chip. I walk to the back of the store area and find several cages with dead rabbits and chickens in them... But.. *chip chip chip. There are several chicks and a few rabbits still alive. I look around and find a buggy meant to haul cages and feed. I hoist up the living animals onto the buggys and grab two bags of feed. After putting a bit of food in their cages the jump on it ravenously. now. I gotta get them out of here and leave a path back. So heading to the office I begin looking around for the store keys. But I find nothing. so option 2 it is. I grab a brick and pin the backdoor open after pulling the buggy out. I begin the slow climb uphill with tgus thing and fuck is this hard. I can see the zombies still surrounding the cars and by the looks of it more are coming down the hill. This is gonna be a long walk. By some miracle the chicks are silent so maybe I can just slip by and head home. As I pull on I finally make it to the top of the hill. I sit down to catch my breath and look around. I see a few zombies here and there all making their way to the valley. But honestly there isn't that many. So I should be able to slip back down tomorrow without to much trouble. After resting for about 10 minutes I stand up and begin dragging the buggy home. The trip here was clear but on the way home I can see a few stragglers here and there. So taking my wrench I bust them in the head before moving on. I dont feel sick anymore.... I guess I'm getting used to this. ha. I wonder if I'm weird. I mean. Just a few days ago I was throwing up at the feeling of catching bone and splashing blood. But now I just dont feel anything about it. I continue to question myself the whole way home and come to the conclusion that no. I am not weird. It's this situation thats weird and I am only adapting. I see the house is as I left it and bring the buggy in the fence before relocking the gate. After that I bring the rabbits and chicks inside. Grand total is 9 chicks and five rabbits. Not to bad. Can you eat rabbit? I mean I know you can but. How? I'll check the net later for it. For now I place the cages in the kitchen and make sure they have food and water. After that I head to the office to use the printer. I print off some help guides on rearing chickens and rabbits and a few cleaning and cooking guides before the power fritzed and the computer rebooted. Well that's enough work for today. Time to get some food and head to bed.
