Chapter 21 - Bowser's priorities...

[Well, an item of that magnitude might be held somewhere special so it would make sense for a random guild member to have never heard of it…]

Matthew sighed as he was putting off the cravings for his favorite drink. If one looked closely, they might even find a small tear forming in his left eye…

As Matthew was no longer paying her any attention, Clara went to make a lot of "calls" about Matthew.

"Hey Matty, what are you doing?" Asked Sarah as she pulled him to the room with Bowser. "I tried to get you to stop but why didn't you follow any of my cues?"

"You didn't give me any cues…wait." Matthew thought back to Sarah staring at him and thought that might have been what she was referring to.

"I was practically YELLING to stop! How are you so bad at socializing still…" Sarah pouted for her brother's misfortune.

"What, I am great at socializing, I can lie and tell long stories very well. I will have you know that I was very popular within the AI theory classes!" Matthew was trying to defend his honor.

"Yeah…that isn't what I mean. You have always been a little slow but if you misread a situation like that and it was EVEN MORE SERIOUS then we would be in trouble…like…very bad trouble." Sarah was thinking about all of the times that Matthew was able to play with their mother's rules, but he was never able to learn about the simplest of cues…

"We will just have to work on it, okay? So, let me do the talking and run anything "simple" by me first so we can test the waters. I mean, they think we are simple country kids that came in out of nowhere. When you ask for a reward, do not make it difficult unless you want us to be assassinated!" Sarah was becoming distressed when she thought about the level of power the guild had displayed during her short time here.

The Adventurer's Guild was formally an independent organization that is completely independent from any royalty. They run the inter-kingdom management of mana wave maintenance and procurement of various rare resources. The guild has infiltrated every country, including the [Elves] and they are responsible for the management during wars.

Imagine if every high-level person were to suddenly depart a town, then the catastrophes would occur almost weekly.

Of course, the average mana required to be shattered would go down greatly but the regular adventurers would need outside support to prevent mass casualties. Hell, if the guild did not participate in this endeavor and own the [Mana-meter] spell, then they would be obsolete.

For now, Sarah was thinking that it would be best to not be assassinated in their sleep by Clara…

"Alright…alright…" Said Matthew, "How was I supposed to know though? I mean, it IS a very simple dish that any [Chef] should know how to make."

Sarah thought about what Matthew said and asked, "Well, it might be harder if the world had changed that much. I mean, a lot of things are messed up…just look at the slaves, even I know the stories behind the legislation…"

"Yeah, how fucked up is it though…" Matthew went to pat Bowser on the head and started to think about how to go about learning everything again…

[If I am not able to get Clara to teach me, then can I go to the library? Nah, they wouldn't tell me the standard method for crafting a [Longsword] would they? Shoot…and what class do I go? If I go [Chef] I could revolutionize warfare with the higher end buffs…

Haha, I could be the "Chef King" and have my own battalion of Mtn Dew guards.

I think I have a huge bonus to my crafting professions from the little "affinity" tester-thingy, but it was all bugged the fuck out…like me.

Shit man, what is a man to do, huh Bowser?]

As Matthew rubbed Bowser's "spot" his leg thumped the ground with enough force to crush bones…

"Aww, buddy, do you wanna' stay, or do you wanna' go to a dungeon with me?" Asked Matthew to Bowser.

Bowser was deeply conflicted with the promise of more food…slightly winning out.

He lowered his head and let out a low moan to voice his opinion on leaving.

"Aww…you big furry traitor. The King will remember that…" Said Matthew as he got off of the filthy ground and went back to Sarah who was in thought. Matthew didn't know how to break it too her but he went with…"Hey Sarah, I am going to go fight in the dungeon, I will be back later."

"WHAT? You nearly died, why would you want to go back in there?" Said Sarah, full of shock.

"I need to be stronger and I need to get my class…if it is production based then I shouldn't have to put myself in much danger, right?" Said Matthew smiling at his flawless logic.

"Wh-what? But you will be in the most danger going in now? Uh, hello? Earth to Matty, there is a mana spike going on!" She said as she was resisting the urge to slap him on the shoulder for being so reckless.

"Sarah, I will be fine! I have already died twice, what is the worst that could happen?"

Sarah wasn't quite sure how she should respond to that as he had technically already beat impossible odds…

"But-" Said Sarah as she was cut off by Matthew, "-No butts, no asses, and no derrieres, alright? I will be able to pull through…it is scary, but I remember what it felt like…I can do this." Matthew looked solemnly in Sarah's eyes before storming off to the dungeon.

He saw Clara and hollered out, "Hey Clara, you said you needed all hands on deck, right? Well, I am going to head to the dungeon around the block and get to killing!"

"Wa-wait, no! You just got better, and you don't have a weapon?" Clara was confused at his sudden enthusiastic attitude.

"I will be fine…[Slime]'s don't hurt very bad at all!" Matthew said and got the go ahead from the balding man standing next to her. "Go, but you need to come back, the council wants to speak with you!"

Clara turned to him with pure confusion on her face. She got closer and asked, "Why would we let him go? He just gave us a huge boon and now we are sending him to his death?"

The older man lightly laughed and gave her a pat on the back, "Ahh…he is a very powerful young man. Didn't you feel his mana earlier?" The man walked off with another light laugh and thought about the story the guards were passing around…

[To have such refined control at that age…amazing. His instructor must have been very harsh to build a foundation like that on an unawakened, I can't wait to see what level he will come back as…hehehehe!]
