Matthew and Sarah were still standing near the door, where Matty had a defeated look on his face.
He was unsure of himself and unsure of Sarah.
This was the second time she had kept critical information away from him…
"Sarah, don't withhold the truth from me." Matthew stared into Sarah's eyes and then said, "No matter how much you think it will hurt me or cause a problem, just DON'T lie!"
Sarah could see that Matthew was getting angry, but she knew what she had done was wrong.
[I gave him false hope.
I thought we would be okay because it is Matty, he may have made this world, but even I know more about the nuances right now.]
"Matty, I am worried." Sarah looked back at Matthew with anxiety on her face.
"Me too Sarah, me too." Matthew was about to go hug Bowser when Sarah suddenly hugged him.
"Wh-Sarah?" Said Matthew as he was being bear-hugged by his big sister.
"I won't ever lie to you again! I promise! Just promise me to never hurt yourself!" She was concerned about her brother's mental health. Her continued lying could have been a catalyst for something very bad.
"Sarah…I don't know if I can promise that…" Matthew was happy about the hug but didn't know how to feel any differently than his normal self. It wasn't really anger or panic to him, it was just the way he thought about life after the accident.
As Sarah was hugging him, she muttered, "I just wanna go on an adventure with my baby brother."
Matthew stood there and thought about the words that she said, they were the same as the "other" Sarah.
[An adventure? Adventure. Adventure..AN ADVENTURE!]
"SARAH, YOU ARE A GENIUS!" Shouted Matthew as he kissed her on the cheeks.
[The goals of both of the Sarah's are the same. They are NOT different people; they are the same person at a different point in time. Exactly like this world…]
"Sarah, what would YOU do to have an adventure." Matthew stared at her with large eyes.
Sarah stood there, thinking about the world they were in and how they could have an adventure.
"Well, this is a pretty good place to set us…and the locals are pretty cool, they are really "real", seriously. You can't fake a mad customer!" Sarah was thinking about the days that she had gone through. People in both worlds could just be dicks for no real reason other than their position of power.
"This is a great world, but you made it, so that is a hinderance." Said Sarah without a hint of realization.
Matthew looked her dead in the eye and said, "So if you were to drop us in a game, you might "change" it up to make the playing field more "fair." Sarah nodded and then realized.
"OH MY GOD! SHE DID IT ON PURPOSE!" Shouted Sarah as she started pacing back and forth.
Matthew was thinking that she might have been in on it, but given her reaction of," FUCK ME! HOLY FUCK! WHAT THE HELL IS THAT DUMB BITCH THINKING, LEAVING US IN HERE TO DIE?"
Matt stood there and watched his sister scream expletives at the sky.
[Wow…I had no idea she had that kind of vocabulary. Maybe I should just calm her down?]
"SARAH, Sarah. Calm. Down." Matthew was turning her towards him and looked her in the eyes.
"CALM DOWN?" Sarah looked like she was just assaulted with the look of surprise on her face.
"YOU WANT ME TO CALM DOWN WHILE THIS FUCKING BITCH IS SITTING UP THERE, DOING WHO KNOWS WHAT WHILE WE ARE STUCK IN THIS PLACE!" Sarah was about to start fighting the air when Matthew suddenly hugged her and sat her down on the ground. He then leaned over and whispered into her ear, "Sarah, I know, I know. It feels so awful, right?" Before sitting down beside her.
Sarah looked at him and said, " You are stuck here with "me" for an indefinite amount of time, why aren't you angry?"
Matthew chuckled a little, "I am not angry because I just don't feel THAT bad about it. I mean getting tricked sucks…but I get to hang out with my big sister for a long time, and when we get done only a few minutes to an hour will have passed back in our world."
Sarah blinked then leaned in closer to whisper with Matthew.
"Uh? How do you figure that?"
He began, "Well, we only had like 12ish hours or something before coming here, right?"
"…"
"…"
Sarah looked at him, not knowing the answer.
"Ah, right, you..don't know. Well, in the human world we were getting stuff setup for around 12ish hours, give or take. But! Almost 4,000 years have passed here. So, what does that mean?" Asked Matthew.
Sarah thought about it and answered, "We are in a sped-up time."
Matthew shot finger guns and said, "Nailed it. So, I think if we were here for about 55 years, it would be the equivalent of 10-minutes in our time."
Sarah just stared at her brother; she was at a loss for words.
Bowser was finally done chewing on a large bone and came over to sit between the two.
"Matty, one thing though, how are you able to be so strong still?"
"I am not really sure. Maybe the other Sarah didn't account for this access and it is a bug?" Upon finishing the sentence, Sarah realized something from back then.
"OH, THAT IS WHY SHE HAD ME ASK YOU ABOUT IT!!! SHE DIDN'T KNOW!!!" Sarah hopped up.
Matthew sat there, "Yeah, I guess that could make sense, I just don't know why it would interact this way. I have infinite MP and HP but only if I can "bare" it, if that make sense…"
"Matty! That is good news, right? I mean, at least we should be safe then! Can't you just become a super powerful wizard?"
Matthew now stood up and said, "I can't really become a wizard, I don't have the affinity for it."
"Wait…how do you not have the affinity for it, you made it?" Sarah asked quizzically.
"I do not know…I do not know…" Matthew was think about his bugged "production-based" Affinity, when Sarah asked, "What do you have then, it has to be something."
"Ah, I have a crafters type of Exp boost. I would be good at every crafting job, and with my recipe knowledge, I would be pretty strong."
"Well, that is great then! At least we will be able to provide for the giant fluffy ball while we are here!" Said Sarah as she bent over to rub Bowser's stomach.
"Yeah, while we are stuck here in this small city." Matthew was about to let out a massive sigh, but then he laughed.
Sarah turned to him and asked with a smile, "What is so funny?"
Matthew looked at her and said, "I am stuck…in godmode."
Sarah didn't quite get it, but Matthew loved the stupidity of the joke.
