In the corner of my eye, I could see Boingo's posture stiffen with pride. However, his face conveyed embarrassment.
Because of my description, my parents started to look at the creature under a new perspective. My father even began to step forward towards him. "So, you're Boingo, then?" He couldn't help but snicker slightly at saying his name aloud. He turned towards me yet again. "So how did you two meet?"
My focus drifted away from the eyes of my parents and at a nondescript portion of the sky as I began to recall the first time Boingo and I met. "It was in our first class. I sat next to him and we began to talk. At the time, I wanted to move seats in a heartbeat, but I began to tolerate him as the days dragged on." I shifted my eyes back to my father. "And... that, combined with other factors, led to us becoming friends. Good friends, may I add."
My father held an expression that I didn't expect; one of concern and a dash of suspicion. "Good friends? What about Shisu?"
The name sparked another flashback; while I was attending another public school on my planet, I had grown to be friends with another one of my race. Shisu was just as willing to partner up with me to do an assortment of activities as Boingo was, if not more. I shook my head in response. "He's good as well. Maybe Boingo can meet him too someday."
My parents nodded and began to look up at the monstrous school. "How do you know your way around here? How often do you get lost trying to get from one class to another?"
"It's fairly simple once you get the hang of it." I began to step away from my parents and towards the front gates that led into the countless hallways. "I can lead you through my classrooms if you want a tour."
Both of my parents silently nodded. Beckoning both them and Boingo to follow, I began to reveal my everyday routine, leading my parents to the classes that I had and my dormitory. As I predicted, they commented on how some articles of casual clothing were somewhat haphazardly strewn about the confined room.
At the end of the lengthy tour, my throat was shooting sharp pains whenever I attempted to speak and my breaths were slowly becoming ragged. I waved to my parents and dismissed them, reuniting with Boingo. "You sure talk a lot..." He flatly remarked.
"Yeah, well," I cleared my throat, once again causing me to grip it in agony. "Well, I just thought that I would catch them up on everything I've done so far."
Boingo nodded his agreement. "I remember having to explain everything to my parents during my first year here, too."
Somewhere deep in my mind, a question arose. "Hey, Boingo..."
The creature lifted his head to face mine. "Yeah?"
I decided to reveal it once and for all. "If you've been here before, why are you in the same class as I am? Day's class, I mean."
Boingo narrowed his eyes at me. "You don't need to remind me."
The realization of Boingo's situation with Day's class suddenly hit me. "So... you failed his class before?"
My uniform was being tugged at by the alien, holes almost appearing in it. "I said that you don't need to remind me!"
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." I furiously apologized until my uniform wasn't carrying unneeded weight. Dusting myself off, I looked around. There were significantly fewer students than later in the day, and the sun was almost going to begin setting. I pondered things that we could do before bedtime eventually hit. "Say... Should we continue our session of tutoring? I was enjoying it up until Midnight interrupted us."
It took a few seconds before Boingo got over his temporary wave of anger and agreed.
