Chapter 43 - - 43 -

"You look exhausted," Mr. Grey eyed me over. While I seemed to be perfectly fine on the outside, it was anything but; something inexplicable was severely drained. It would be impossible to explain fully to anyone that hadn't cast a spell before.

"Yes," I croaked. "Did you stop the spell?"

"I did now." Looking up, time finally started to resume; the students that were spread evenly across the field began to move, creating shapes and visuals that were a result of spells that I couldn't even fathom yet.

Mr. Grey bowed in front of me. "You may leave now, it'd be dangerous if you overextend yourself like this. Perhaps you could take a walk around the school, wait next to the door of your next class or even go back to your dorm room. Either way, you have the rest of class off. Good work."

A smile reflexively appeared on my face as I thanked Mr. Gray. Not only did he have almost the same quality of teaching as Day did, but I also subconsciously reminded myself of the fact that he slowed time to teach me more spells than were necessary. "Have a good day, Mr. Grey."

"You too." The last time I saw him that day was half a second before I closed the front gate to the field. Now inside the school, I began to walk around. Aimlessly, at first; it was astonishing to see the hallway so barren when I had frequently seen it populated with other students. I began to appreciate the intricate patterns that were displayed on every surface, which housed an endless amount of detail the more I stared at it.

Shaking my head, I snapped out of my trance. I began to follow a set route, one that I took every evening. I decided to simply go back to my dorm room and recover my now slightly sore legs. I figured that I would also put my finishing touches on the essay that I had prepared. Thanks to the numerous tangents Day would trail off on, it was immensely easy to gain a tidbit of extra knowledge about the society itself.

My heart skipped a beat when the bells rang. I scrambled out of the door, leaving my unfinished essay still on my desk. I was going to have to wait until the day after to hand it in to Day, who had graciously set the due date for the assignment to three days from now.

I scrambled down the hallways as fast as I could, as my classroom was almost across the school from where my room was located. My knees began to give in and my speed decreased throughout my elongated sprint.

Thankfully, I arrived on time. Most of the students in my next class were already at their desks in anticipation for the teacher to begin talking, but I was still not late. I briskly hopped up the steps until I found the seat I frequently attended the class in question and furiously flipped through my notebook to an empty page, readying myself for today's lesson to begin.
