Before long, Windell took his hands off my cranium and the tingling sensation came to a close. Looking up, he seemed to have a mixed expression; one that held the emotions of fear, surprise and happiness. Immediately, he rushed over to my teacher and for an unknown reason I couldn't hear them converse even if I strained my ears to listen in.
The teacher looked over at me and spoke once more, this time his words reaching me. "Thank you." Supposedly with the information he wanted, he left the room. Now only Windell and I remained.
"Don't worry," the fairly quiet adult comforted. "I have to confess, I did poke around a little bit more than I should have, but it was for a good cause."
"You did what?" My heart skipped a beat and I felt my face flush. "But you said that you'd leave all my personal memories be!"
"You shouldn't worry about that, either. I can just as easily forget unnecessary information as it is for me to obtain it."
I felt my eyes begin to narrow themselves. "And what did you find? Was anything out of the ordinary?"
"We'll have to talk with Midnight about one particular thing. That's all Day permitted me to reveal to you."
"Day?" I had a suspicion but still wanted a definite answer.
Windell nodded. "Your teacher."
Up until now, I had referred to my teacher simply by his occupation. I'd heard of certain groups of students call him names such as "Mister Rock", "Stone" or simply "Old", but I felt relieved that I knew his true surname.
"I'll be going. You should probably follow me back to the lounge before you get lost a second time."
"...A video game?"
I spun around, pressing the pause button on the controller in the process. I had been in the middle of a session, with Tenya avidly cheering me on. "Huh?"
What awaited me was none other than Day. He gave a slight smile, and Tenya immediately froze. "I figured you'd need some help on your assignment?"
For a few seconds, I was stunned from the sudden appearance, but words slowly made their way up my throat and into the air. "Oh, yeah. I was just going to ask you about that." Then I remembered the memory extraction; Windell most likely told him of my repeated thoughts about the subject.
"Well, I suppose we could do that now before night falls upon us," my teacher suggested. He then looked over at Tanya. "If it's alright with you, of course. You seemed to enjoy his company."
"Ah..." Tenya's mouth formed a circle. "It's fine, really. I can just pick up where he left off. He needs a bit of an increase in difficulty anyways."
We exchanged the controller and Tenya sat down the moment I stood to join Day. "I was able to answer a few questions from being kidnapped, actually."
My teacher gave me a knowing nod. "I've heard. Windell told me that you'd experienced quite a bit, whether you'd liked it or not." We then began to exit the gaming room and entered the elevator to head up to my room. "Even though I disapprove of the fact that you went through so much pain, I'm proud that you learned from the experience."
I simply stood and absorbed my teacher's words of encouragement and praise, not knowing what to say in response. With my sheets in hand, I finally announced something. "I haven't done much, but I hope it's something."
Day politely took the sheets from my hand and began to flip through them. As he gazes at the many empty pages, his thin eyebrows furrowed. He immediately wandered over to the one desk that was present and laid them down. "Here, let's go through this together."
