Chapter 4 - Semi-pro

As the woman glided her way to the counter Zel was coming up with a million different ways to just hack into his stuff instead of play New Orbis but was drawing a blank due to him having no chance of not being caught even though he knew the passwords but with as limited a background as Zel had right now he would probably just end up tortured and dead again if he ever accomplished it.

"Excuse me" a soft but clear voice rang out in between Zels ears. As he looked up he was awestruck by the beauty that was in front of him. She had dark purple hair tied into a neat pony tail accented by her glowing skin with black sports bra and jacket her skin glistened with sweat around her barely showing abs and ample breast, her hips were wide giving her a perfect figure along with sleek black leggings she came off as cool beauty as Zel locked into her deep black eyes that looked as dark as the voids of space.

"hey ummm" she said waving her hand over his face.

"Sorry" Zel dropped a couple things off the desk from shock.

"What can I help you with" Zel finally said after picking up some of the things he dropped.

"I have an appoint with Kai for training" she said clearly her voice humming across the air.

"Oh your the Semi-pro, let me call him over" Zel swiftly called Kai over to try and get rid of his embarrassment. His Grandfather and Kai walked over Kai gave the girl a quick nod and they walked off while Zels grandpa walk over to Zel after saying hi. Zel sat there and stared as he watched here saunter away.

"She's pretty huh that is why I told you to get into VR maybe you'd be able to find a girlfriend instead of being forever alone". His grandfather smirked. As Zel had no experience with women even as Quinton mostly because of work and the women he did interact with being gold diggers out for his money he chose to abstain but being a complete virgin this really left a deep scar.

"Who is she" Zel finally got out after mentally and almost physically coughing blood.

"Zara Winfield shes and up and coming pro gamer she was was the winner of a couple low ranking PvP tournaments she probably could of signed to a pro team already but I think she waiting for New Orbis to come out some of the top pros have been getting some ridiculous deals so signing a contract right now probably isn't a good idea as a largely unknown player".

Zel silently agreed anyone new would most likely be signing near close to slave contracts due to what was at stake and as a new pro you probably wouldn't be able to find better offers. And say you did become a hero in the game you'd probably have to kick back a lot for all the support they were giving you basically they might ask you to sign away all you're future earnings for a fat check right now. You'd have to be an idiot to sign any contract like that in Zel's opinion but its hard to turn away millions of credits if you've never seen that type of money before especially when you might not even become the lucky future heir to the Kane fortune.

"Hey uhh... gramps" Zel was trying more on sounding like the original 20 year old until he could seamlessly shift to his original personality small shifts at a time might go unnoticed but a large shift might make someone think something was wrong.

"Yah whats up" his grandfather said raising his eyebrows?

"Why do people train here?" Zel asked not knowing if this was something he should know.

"haha oh now your interested." "Hmmm" his grandfather stopped for a second to think of a good reply. "One of the reasons is most people don't know how to fight I mean if you hand two ordinary people swords they most likely would just swing the swords toward each other which isn't what you want to do if your fighting to kill or against a skilled opponent not to mention using guns is a lot harder than you think. This is pretty much why all games use the auto-skill function which just runs the virtual body through the skill frames this takes away user control to make combat easier new players do this a lot so we mostly teach how to fight when skills are down". This Zel knew it was one of the reason he got rid of it in New Orbis because he felt it ruined immersion and it seemed silly to shout or think of skills and your body just move but he never thought about player experience so he didn't care plus he never thought he'd be playing the game without his God-level admin account.

"The second reason is to teach players how to get higher skill-completions which is another function which if you're a pro you have to use. I mean although the skill process is the same and the body still gets taken over you're allowed to move a little during the skill so you can aim it and use them in more unique ways although this allows for more freedom you still have skill lockouts so most pros hold onto their skills unless their sure hits. So learning how to actually fight is more pressing plus at high levels player move insanely fast so combat practice is necessary so you can get used to the speed and reactions that you need plus figuring out spacing and where to attack from is important."

Zel understood this upon explanation I mean giving players what would be equivalent to super powers is definitely harder to get used to than you would think. But the skill-completion function still limited possibilities and uses again stepping away from true immersion and freedom which is why Zel got rid of it for New Orbis but thinking of how these things could have helped him have an easier time in the game he inwardly grimaced.

"The last reason would probably be better to show you then explain" Zel's grandfather smirked and laugh mysteriously thinking of how shocked his grandson would be as he slowly made his way to the second floor. Zel followed behind slowly unsure of what else their could be...
