Brother? I strained my neck to get a peek at this 'supposed' brother of Dante's. His broad shoulders and huge built wasn't really helping.
I tip toed slightly to the side so that Dante wouldn't notice. Unfortunately for me, Dante's bat like ears picked up my slight misstep and he once again, put his body in front me. Huffing I glared at his back, boring my eyes into him hoping he'll get the message.
Contradicting Dante's intention to keep hiding me, I pushed his body aside with all my might. After getting his back out of my line of vision, I held my position with confidence with my arms crossed against my chest. Hoping to look intimidating against our intruders, I ignored the glare that Dante was throwing at me.
Our visualizing hatred was halted when a mix of a cough and a laugh broke the tension that had once been held in commission.
Both our heads turn towards the noise. The guy in the dark black robe was smiling while staring at us. Even though I couldn't see his face the moonlight illuminated his smile. I shuddered as it sent a bad feeling down my back...
"Pink?" The black hooded guy spoke up. His voice seemed somewhat familiar but I shook the feeling off.
I turned towards Dante who still had the pink apron on from when we were baking. Even with the situation at hand a smile crept onto my face and the feeling to laugh barged in. I chuckled whilst still staring at Dante. A light pink color spread onto his cheeks and he ripped the apron off and threw it behind him whilst still glaring.
"You're no brother of mine."He spoke with such hate that it shook me. He shook his head and laughed sarcastically. He shifted his eyes back to the black robe guy alongside a dangerous glint which was now set in his eyes. Never before had I seen Dante like this.
"So, which one of you is it hidden under the robe. Damian or Derek."
The dark robe guy laughed at this.
"As much I would love to visit you like this occasionally brother. I'm not here for you."
Dante raises an eyebrow at this. The guy in the black robe raised his hand and pointed in my direction.
"I'm here for her."
Dante tenses and growls. "Touch her and I'll tear you apart, limb, from limb." His voice resonated through the now silenced room.
"Now, now brother. You don't want to test me. Just hand us the girl and we'll be on our merry way." He extends his hands towards me.
Dante puts his body once again in front of me and this time I don't protest. From the corner of my eye I see the three 'rouges' standing there, just watching us. They seemed in control of what they were doing. Had they harnessed their power? I though that was a very difficult thing to do and here there were three of them who had seemingly done it.
The dark robe guy chuckled at this. "It's your funeral." I remembered when Dante said that 'rouges' weren't really a problem for him. But I'm guessing he was talking about ones that had lost control. The dark robe guy raised a finger and the 'rouges' attacked.
Dante side stepped pulled something out of his jeans pocket and smashed it onto the ground. Smoke embedded us all moments later. The laugh of the dark robe guy rumbled around.
"Smoke screen? It seems as if you've lost your touch Dante."
Due to the fact I couldn't see a thing in front of me I held onto Dante's shirt tightly. He turned around and looked me in the eye.
"Laura. For once in your life listen to me okay?" His voice held so much desperation causing me to just nod numbly.
"There should be a button under the island. Push it and a door should open in the wall next to it, it's soundproof so you should be safe in there for a while. Stay there until I take care of this." He states.
"No way! I'm not leaving you here with these hooligans." I point a finger randomly into the fog. Dante takes both of my hands into his own. He says a single six letter word that makes my resolve crumble.
"Please" His eyes were pleading with mine. I could tell the smoke was withering away. Sighing I nod at him and run towards the island. I put my hand under it until I felt something like a button. I press the thing and the wall beside it start opening. I look back at Dante and he just nods towards me smiling. I could feel tears threatening to surface but I pushed them down.
I run into the door and there's a button on the inside. I push it and keep staring at Dante until the door closes blocking him from me. Then the tears come. One slips down my cheek and I could feel others follow. My heart was still beating from our encounter from before yet it clenched when I think about Dante. He's out there protecting me.
I should've told him about my mark earlier.
Once I had run out of tears I finally looked around. Darkness surrounded all four corners of the small room and I spotted a hole in the wall with light shining through it. I scrambled and made my way to it. It was too high. I moved my head to look for something I could use as a leverage. I spotted a crate just a meter away. Making my way over I pushed it towards the hole. Grunting at the weight of it I finally pushed it under the hole in the wall. Climbing on top of the crate I peek through the hole.
Dante had his back to me and the 'rouges' were now circling him. It was as if they were waiting for a perfect opportunity to pounce. They looked more like animals than humans. Dante had his legs bent and hands out in front of him. Suddenly one of the 'rouges' pounced, Dante stepped to the side easily dodging the fleeting figure. While the 'rouge' was in mid jump Dante smashed his two fists at his back. The 'rouge' went smashing in to the ground with a shrieking cry of pain.
I wince. while keeping my eyes on the other two 'rouges'. They had stopped and were staring at their fallen comrade. Suddenly they both growled inhumanly and jumped at once. Dante put both his hands out one holding the face of one of the 'rouges' while his other hand held the other one. He span while letting go of one of them. The 'rouge' went smashing into the wall and then fell to the ground with a thud whilst leaving a huge hole in the wall in it's place. Dante was still holding the face of the last 'rouge', very tightly. He added more pressure and the 'rouge' cried out in pain. Dante brought his face close to the 'rouge' and spoke in a deep chilling voice.
"Never set foot in this place again if you know what's good for you." Then he threw the 'rouge' into the island, the 'rouges' head smashed into the marble and then his body crumbled across the floor. Dante looked as if he hadn't broken a single bead of sweat as the body of the three 'rouges' surrounded him. Even with the more than violent show he just put on I smiled. He could take care of himself. My relief was lived short as a disturbing laugh echoed. The guy in the black robe was standing exactly where he had when we first came in.
"Nice work there. It seems you hid the little Bambi. Mind telling me where she is, I really should get going." He spoke calmly as if Dante hadn't just demolished his entire army.
"Over my dead body." Dante growled. My heart raced at his protectiveness. I hadn't even told him about my mark.
The black robe guy smirked. " That can be arranged." My heart froze at his words. He's going to try to kill Dante. Hell no.
The person that had stood beside the black robe guy stepped up. I had forgotten about him. He still had his hood on and was smirking. Finally he spoke.
"I'll be your opponent now." He spoke slowly. His voice was deep and a wave of nausea filled me as the mark starting burning again. Tears filled my vision and I looked at the two of them through my pain.
The short black hood went to attack Dante. My eyes couldn't even keep up with his attack. He moved at a speed that I could barely keep up with. Dante smirked at this and matched his speed with ease. They both exchanged punches and kicks each striking with another attack a second after. I had no idea how long it stretched out for, but my eyes were glued to the two of them.
Suddenly the short black hood backed up and the other black hooded guy steeped in his place. It happened so fast that I could've blinked and missed it. The black hooded guy has stabbed Dante with a knife in the chest. Blood dripped onto the ground. A scream erupted from me as I watched Dante fall to the ground in a heap of blood. I jumped off the crate and towards the door. I pushed the button to open the door without a second thought.
It didn't move!
A strangled noise came from my throat and in one last desperate attempt I pushed the button and dived towards the door with all of my body. I collided with it and pain shot through my body. Grunting I got up from the ground and to my surprise the door started to slide open.
Before it even opened fully I rushed out. Looking around I spotted Dante on the ground. I ran to him and looked frantically to what I could do to stop the bleeding. The knife had penetrated his heart and I was panicking. I checked the vital on his wrist and my heart stopped.
There was no heartbeat.... He wasn't breathing!
I screamed. Tears rushed down my face and I stood up. I looked towards the guy in the black hood with pure rage in my eyes. The black robe guy stood with an amused smile spread across his face. The blood on his hand and on his black robe popped out. Dante's blood.
"Now that one obstacle out of the way, why don't you come with us Silver Tear."
I growled at him. "I'd rather die than go anywhere with you"
He chuckled and pointed towards Dante who was now sprawled onto the floor. "I don't think you have much of a choice, Bambi."
Disgust filled me. "Don't call me that."
He chuckles once again. He was really starting to bug me. Suddenly he looked towards the elevator as about 6 people came rushing out of it. They worked in the lobby. Each one of them had a type of staff in hands and were glaring daggers at the guy in the black robe. Even when they're eyes swiped over Dante's body on the ground no hint of regret or surprise shown on their face.
"Dante called company I see. Still as dumb as ever." The guy in the black robe said. "I'll see you very soon. Bambi..." And with that both him and the short black hood dissapeared in plain sight. I rushed back to Dante who lay in a pool of blood. Tears once again flowed. Then one of the people from the lobby spoke up.
"Don't worry miss. He'll be fine in a moment." I looked towards them in awe.
"He'll be fine. He has a knife in his heart. I don't think even a demon could survive that. Oh and let me inform you that he isn't breathing!" They all smiled at me like I was the most hilarious thing in the world.
Suddenly I felt something move underneath me. Dante suddenly sat up while taking deep breaths. I screamed and scrambled away from him. He groans and takes the knife out of his chest.
"God, I'll never get used to that." He spoke. His voice was scratchy and he licked his lips. I stared at him with wide eyes. I pushed myself against the wall with all my might. I could feel my spine itself digging into the wall. Once I had my voice I finally spoke.
"What the fuck.."
