I stared wide eyes at the now resurrected Dante. He still had the knife in his hand and was looking it over.
"So this is the damn knife that bastard knocked me unconscious with." He spoke with distaste as he flung the knife across the floor. Huffing he got up and turned towards the people from the lobby.
"Thanks for the save. Maybe I'll raise you're pay." The people chuckled and shook their heads.
"No need for that sir, we're glad to do our job" They started to go back to the elevator with staffs in hand. One of them turned back his eyes turned from me to Dante with a soft smile.
"Oh- and sir, you might want to clear things with the miss. She seems pretty spooked." He finishes off and joins the others in the elevator. The door dings with a close and I'm left with Dante and a whole lot of questions.
Dante picks himself off from the floor. Groaning he walks over to the kitchen, pulling open the fridge he takes out an orange juice carton and drinks from it. I pull a face at his actions. Since he had enough energy to come back to life, he should have energy to pour juice into a damn cup. After he finishes his drink he finally turns towards me with a raised brow.
"Well, come here. You want answers don't you?" He motions for me to come on over. Anger courses through me and I stomp my way over.
"Hell ya I do." I slam my hands on the island ignoring the still unconscious bodies of 'rouges' that were scattered on the floor. Dante smirks at my energy and closes the fridge after pouring a glass from me and sliding it towards me. I make a face at that but take the glass in hand nonetheless.
"Hold on a sec." He says and then walks back into his office. He comes back with the huge book from before. I cover my face beforehand just in case more dust decide to fly onto my face. Dante chuckles at my action.
"Don't worry, I dusted it off already." Relief floods into my and I lower my hands.
He puts the book on the island and opens it. Flipping through the pages he stops at one in particular. He then turns the book towards me. I peer into the book and furrow my eyebrows. The pages were basically filled with diagrams. I look over to Dante for an explanation. He just nods and looks back at the book. I do the same awaiting his answer.
" I told you before that the memories of the first ever kill was embedded into the next generations of humans, right?" I nod.
"Well, the first demons that were born from the chaos were special" I look at him.
"In what way?" Dante sigh and continues.
"The first two demons were a boy and a girl. They loved causing chaos. Both of them were known all too well for causing disasters. However they had never met. They had both claimed one half of the world. It was a race at which one was better at reeling human towards the dark side. Since they were the first demons, they were immortal and unkillable" Dante shakes his head with a slight smile on his face, as if he had heard this story many times before.
" Then one day they met at the center of the world. You can guess what happens next.." I nod at him with a sad smile.
" They fell in love?"
He nods. " Yeah. And they fell hard. They stopped causing as much chaos as before, too involved in their romance. As they relieved themselves from their job, humans continued to cause disasters by themselves and the next generation of demons were born." He takes my untouched glass and puts it into the sink.
" What they didn't know was that romance was something that clashed with their demonic reality. They fought against the two odds the best they could. And the fruit of their love finally beared after a couple of decades. Three healthy boys were born, extending the original demon family tree." A sad ghost smile played onto his lips.
"They started getting hate from other demons. Back in the day there was one thing that could kill the originals. The sorphic water. There was a huge lake that had been blessed, on the other side of the town where the originals lived in. One day a mob of demons entered the originals house and killed their oldest son with a knife dipped in sorphic water." I kept quiet hoping for him to continue.
"Due to both of their demonic nature it took an extra toll of pressure onto them. The mother went into depression while the father went on a rampage. Slaughtering every demon in his path. His hatred grew for the demons for taking his son away and himself for being so weak against the attack. Later on he went to the lake with followers and destroyed the whole thing. In the end it was left dry. The mother who was already weak found out that she was pregnant with another child . The father hated both sons that were left and the thought of another child being in the path of that hatred broke her. After months of hiding it from the father she ran away and had the child,.. dying in the process." Dante took a deep breath and spoke the next line with the most sadness I've ever heard in his voice.
"And that child was me" I extended my hand and held his. I squeezed it and offered him a sad smile. He blinks and the raw emotion from before dissapears, as if he was broken out of a momentary trance.
He then points towards the six names on the book. Tiana Dimitri, Hared Dimitri, Zion Dimitri, Derek Dimitri , Damain Dimitri, Dante Dimitri. I realized that this was Dante's family. I skimmed my finger over the names with a sad smile. I looked up at Dante to find him looking at the names just as dazed as me.
"Do you miss her?" I ask
He nods still looking at the book. "Did you know that she named me Dante just so she could call us the three D's" He said with a slight chuckle. I smile alongside him.
"She seemed amazing."
"She was."
Trying to lighten the mood I speak, " So does that make you the like.. the Devil?"
He chuckles looking up at me. "Now where'd you get that from?"
I smiled. "You'll come to see us human have a very creative imagination."
He smiles back. " Oh I know. It's part of the reason you people think I'm a mutated red goblin who carried a pitch fork half of the time." I burst out laughing and he slowly joins along. My heart warms that I was able to cheer him up, even if it was just a little bit.
I then realize there's one important thing I left out as well. Being afraid of his reaction I ask him cautiously.
"Dante I forgot to tell you something as well..."
"Go on."
I play with my fingers nervously. " Umm..." Not knowing what to say I reach to the collar of my shirt and pull it down to my shoulder blade, exposing my mark.
Silence passed between us and no one speaks.
"So that's why he was after you." He realized. I nod.
"You're the Silver Tear .. Why didn't you tell me?"
I blurt it out before I understood what I was about to say. " I overheard you talking to the 'rouge' about the apparent Silver Tear like she was some kind of property. So I'm sorry if I was a bit hesitant." He sighs.
"I couldn't say otherwise, I had to look like I had no intention of going after the Silver Tear. If I did all hell would be loose on this town. Literally." I arch an eyebrow out of curiosity.
"From what I heard though, you actually shouldn't need the Silver Tear in the first place."
He nods." I don't. However I can't let it fall into the wrong hands either." I smile at his nature of justice. He then once again flips through the huge book.
"Come here and look at this." I walk over to him and peek at what he's looking at. On the book there's a exact replica of the mark on my shoulder. I read the paragraph underneath it.
"The mark of The Reaper. Shall bring power to the powerless. Can turn the holder into a upholder of evil with the sword..." I look at Dante in confusion, who shrugs.
"At least we know for sure you are the Silver Tear" I nod and smile.
"Yeah.."
"Now that we know that, lots of others might as well. You need something that will keep you safe for now"
"What?"
"Be right back." He goes into his office and comes back with a another book and a staff similar to the one the people in the lobby had.
"Do you have everything we could possibly need in that office of yours?" I ask teasingly.
"Possibly." He replies with a smirk of his own. He hands me the staff.
"Hold this staff. It'll take the words of the spell I'll speak and turn it into energy for the spell to be cast fully." I nod understanding and take the staff out of his hands. My heart beat accelerates with a mix if curiosity and excitement. Dante takes the books in his hands and speaks words that I couldn't quite understand.
Suddenly my mind becomes fuzzy and my body feels light as a feather as the staff in my very hand glows a blood red color. Dante holds me up with one hand while the other holds the book where he recites the spell from. After several minutes he stops and I almost fell to the ground as the change to my body goes back to normal as fast as it came.
Dante also out of breath looks at me with tired eyes. "It takes a lot out of me as well, as demons are not particularly fond of spells especially originals."
"Thanks"
He nods. " That spell should keep you safe for the time being. It hides the power radiating from your mark and blocks it. It'll last for a few days.." He stops then continues, "Then slowly it'll wear off."
"Gotcha"
Dante looks at the clock. "You should head home. It's getting pretty late."
"You're right." I gather my stuff and head towards the elevator when Dante calls after me. I turn around to face him once more.
"Tomorrow, I'll teach you how to fight and harness you powers from the mark so something like today doesn't happen again."
"I can do that?" I ask my excitement peeking.
He smiles and nods at my obvious excitement. " Oh yeah. The mark does bring some good things along with it. I'll also raise the security in this place and clean this up" He looks around distastefully at the pile of bodies and blood splattered on numerous places, including the island we were sitting on. I chuckle.
"Thanks Dante. I'll see you tomorrow." He looks back at me with a gentle smile that made my heart skip a bit.
"See you tomorrow, Laura." He speaks as the elevator door shuts. I smile at the crazy events that took place today.

Reaching home I say hi to mom and trudge tiredly to my bedroom. I take a hot shower and change into a nice clean shirt. The second I my head hits the pillow I was out like a light.
Can't wait to see what happens tomorrow.
