Dante had gone to get me something warm to drink while I was still laying on the couch. My heart ached when I had that vision of myself. Or I thought that was me..
I mean a twin? That just seemed highly unlikely, I had never heard of something like that from mom or dad. I knew I was overthinking things but there's was something very wrong with that vision, something heinous...
I shuddered and looked at the light on the ceiling. My eyes fixated onto the bright bulb of brightness when a tiny sound broke me from my trance. Looking over I saw the tiny kitten that Claire had given me rolling around in her tiny cage. A smile automatically replaced my scowl from earlier. I pushed myself off the couch and made my way over to her.
That's right. I had determined it was 'she' when Claire had handed the bundle of cuteness to me. I squatted and opened the cage. The kitten stopped and looked at me with her round eyes. Those eyes memorized me. They had a tint of green and gold while the innocence in them shined just as brightly. Then a thought spiked in me.
"Bella..." I whispered to test it out. As if knowing the name was for her she lifted her head up looked at me. I scratched her head.
"You like that?" A tiny meow from her assured me that was the name for her. I picked her up tenderly and walked back to the couch.
"You're Bella now." I told her while she tried to catch her own tail by chasing it. This was something that dogs usually did. I chuckled at her. I noise from behind me made me jump.
"Bella huh?" I looked back to see Dante approaching us with two steaming cups of.... I'm guessing, hot chocolate. My guess was finalized and corrected when he put one cup of hot chocolate in front of me while the other stayed in his hands. He was looking at Bella. His chest went up and down as he breathed and you could see every inch of his toned chest through the tight fitted blue shirt.
"I like that."
"Huh?" I looked up at his face, praying to god he hadn't seen me staring. Thankfully he was still staring at Bella.
"Her name. Bella. It suits her." I nodded and looked at back at Bella.
"It does doesn't it." I sipped my hot chocolate and savored it's everlasting deliciousness. I looked at Dante hoping for him to spill the bean for this amazing recipe.
"How in god's name did you make this so freakin delicious?" He chuckled.
"It's a secret."
I rolled my eyes, pouting and whispered. "Of course it is.."
He reached over and put his hands across my shoulder. Pulling me in he said. " Aw. Don't pout.." I pushed his hands away and crossed my hands across my chest.
"Then tell me." I stated stubbornly. He shook his head.
"No can't do , mi amor." I froze and furrowed my brows. The hell does that mean?... Before I got a chance to ask he spoke whilst putting a finger on his lips.
"It's a secret." I squinted my eyes at him.
"Did you read my thoughts." He put his hands in a mock surrender.
"To be fair you're the one that put it in my mind subconsciously, so technically, no." I scoffed. My mood was soured when the thoughts of my vision came back. I turned towards Dante. Hopefully he'll know something about this. Maybe having weird visions of yourself was common for being the Silver Tear...
"I need to ask you something." He nodded.
"Go ahead."
"I've been having weird visions lately. I want to know if it's got something to do with me being the Silver Tear or not." Dante looked intrigued.
"What kinds of visions?"
"I can't really describe them." I try to think of a way to tell him. " There will be people standing in front of me, though I usually can't see their faces. They look familiar but whenever I try to get close to them or vise versa,.. the same things happens over and over again."
"What?"
"The crumble or turn to ash. It's like somethings holding me back from fully understanding what the visions mean." He nods.
"You said that you usually cannot see their faces. Have you actually seen what one of them look like?" I nod and stare at a wall confusingly.
"It was me... Or I thought it was me. I couldn't be sure." I shake my head while balancing my head in my hands. Dante reached over and rubs my back while pulling me in for a side hug. I snuggle into him while closing my eyes contently. Dante speaks up.
"I have heard something about this... but I'm not so sure."
I rest my head on his shoulder. "It doesn't matter. Anything will help."
"Well.. I read somewhere that the mark on your shoulder has the power to bury some events in a person's life. Yours or others."
I furrow my brows. "What kind of events?"
He shrugs. "Hard ones, something traumatic. You name it. I think sometimes the brain refuses to acknowledge the happenings of the event and the mark helps to vanquish it, maybe temporarily or permanently."
I nod. So either he's completely wrong or... something did happen, something I can't remember, something bad. I could feel it. My eyes were starting to get heavy declaring my body had reached its limit. Dante however had other ideas. He shook my shoulder and I abruptly sat up. Groaning I turned towards him surprised to see him staring at me, smirking....
This can't be good
"Whatever you're thinking....no" He pouts.
"I haven't even asked yet." I raised an eyebrow.
"Ask?... You're going to probably drag me by my feet if I refuse to do whatever you want me to." He shrugs, not bothering to defend himself.
"Well, you got me there." He clasps his hand in mine and tries to pull me up. I stand my ground and dig my heels into the carpet.
"But I'm tired." I whine not caring how childish I sounded. Finally he gave up and throws himself back onto the couch beside me. I smiled victoriously. My confidence was short lived as suddenly two hands wrapped themselves around my waist and the view in front of my eyes turn upside down. I shriek and hold onto Dante's shirt.
"Dante! Put-me-down" I pound my small fist against his back with all the might I could muster up while dangling upside down.
His chest vibrates indicating he's laughing at me. How dare he?!
"No, can do, mi amor." I then scream.
"That won't stop me, mi amor." I stop and growl.
"Don't call me that." He chuckles.
"What's the harm? You don't even know what it means."
"That's not the point!" I scream at him. The blood was rushing to my head so I turned my head up as much as I could. I continue screaming while he goes in and out of the elevator. Ignoring the stares we were getting from the people in the lobby I continue screaming.
He finally put me down when we got to his car. The second my feet his the ground I try to run the other way. Knowing Dante he probably saw that coming from a mile away. He once again wraps his arms around my waist, lifts me off the ground and walks over to his car.
He pushed a button and the car door opens. He gently puts me inside and closes the door abruptly while locking it. I bang on the window and glare at him as hard as I could. That earns another chuckle from him. He walks around and opens his own door. He sits down turns on the ignition and speeds off towards the road.
I stare out the window and keep silent. I scoot as far away from him as possible. He didn't have to manhandle me. I have feet! I could've walked.
I turned my head away and stare outside. I hear a sigh and the car is stopped suddenly on the side of the road. I don't look back. Another sigh. I hear Dante shift and move closer to me. His hands rests on top of mine, I move it away. A sigh yet again.
"I'm sorry." I hear him whisper hesitantly. Has he never apologized before..? I finally turn towards him glaring.
Realizing he has my attention he puts his hands up. " I won't do that again." I look at him cautiously.
"You promise?" I ask. He smiles relief flooding his features.
He holds out his pinky finger towards me. "I promise" He states adamantly. A smile shows up on my face at his cuteness. I hook our fingers together and shake it up and down like I used to do as a kid.
"Where are we going anyways.?" I ask. He points towards the huge yellow M sign just a couple hundred meters away from us.
"MacDonald's?" He nods and smiles.
"I thought we should eat out once in a while." I nod agreeing. Suddenly a huge thud comes from the roof of the car. I scream and duck, my hands automatically going up to cover my head. I look up and see a huge inwards dent on the roof. Dante opens the door and gets out. I do the same. We both walk and turn around.
Suddenly Dante pulls me behind me. The guy in the black robe was back, this time with only his sidekick. Seeing Dante's action he chuckles darkly.
"I'm just here to talk brother."
Dante growls.
"Like hell you are." The guy in the black robe flies off the roof of the car and onto the ground.
"You don't have to believe me but all I'm here to do is deliver a message." I side step out from behind Dante.
"What might that be?" I ask trying my hardest not to waver.
The guy in the black robe turns towards me. His mouth curves into a vicious smile. "Why hello there Bambi. Nice to see you again."
I tense." Let's cut the chit chat. What do you want?"
"Feisty, I like it."
Dante growls at this. I put my hand up and nod towards Dante. Turning back I glare at the guy in the black robe and raise an eyebrow.
"I just wanted to let you know... I'll be looking for the Hallister." I furrow my brows and look towards Dante. His expression had hardened and his fists were balled up.
"Why tell us then?" He speaks through gritted teeth. The guy in the black robe shrugs.
"For fun of course." He says as if it's the most obvious thing in the world. " I'd be boring if I did it alone." Dante steps forwards and this time I don't stop him. The guy in the black robe sees this and shakes his head.
"Uh,uh.uh. No fighting today remember?" He says as if he's speaking to a child. He flashes us a wicked smile. I blink and then he's gone.
How does he do that?...
I turn towards Dante who was still as tense as ever. I decide to cut right to the chase.
"What's the Hallister?" He looks towards me. His eyes make me freeze as they look right through me... as if I wasn't even there. Then he blinks and he's back. Shaking his head he speaks.
"I didn't think it existed. I thought it was destroyed."
"The Hallister?" He nods.
"The Hallister is the only weapon left in the world that can...." He stops and sighs.
"Can what?" I ask.
"Kill us originals.." I look at him surprised.
"I though the only thing was the sophic water?"
"Once upon a time, it was." He looks back at me with determination in his eyes.
"We have to go back to the office. I have to double check something and show you it as well..." Sighing I nod and follow him back to his car.
Guess we won't be eating after all....
