Chapter 140 - Henchman part 3 - Gary

Even though Barry had told him to 'get lost' he hadn't. Gary was standing behind a corner listening to Barry attack the Aimes, both verbally and physically. He wondered why she wasn't fighting back, if she tried she could've beaten him easily. But instead, she lay there, taking hit after hit. Did she know he was there? She coughed after a particularly hard kick, and blood came up. Gary grit his teeth, even if she was an Aimes he couldn't just stand here at watch this happen.

He came out from behind the corner. Roles now reversed from before. "Stop it, stop hitting her, she's not even fighting back!" Gary commanded, shoving Barry off of the Aimes. There was pure hatred blinding Barry's eyes, and he started to fight back. But this time, Gary wouldn't be caught off guard. He dodged the punches and kicks that Barry threw, only infuriating him further. No-one stood up to him. Bit by bit it seemed like everyone learned that. The Aimes, the nerds, even the other populars, none of them ever told him that it was wrong. Barry cursed at him and punched his gut, leaving still full of anger. Gary knew that he would pay for this later, but right now, he had to make sure that she was okay.

"Are you okay?" He asked softly, coming over to her slowly and cautiously. She was limp on the floor, very obviously in pain. He knelt down close to her and reached out a hand slowly. She knocked it away.

"I'm fine. Just go to class." She mumbled, her words coated in pain and sadness. She was holding her stomach tightly. Gary somehow got a feeling that this happened regularly. He felt sick. How could Barry treat her like this? Why did she stay around him? If someone treated him as badly as Barry treated her, he would've cut them out of his life. So why hadn't she? He lifted his hand again slowly, and gently brushed her hair out of her face. She looked up at him, frightened.

"I won't hurt you." He proclaimed softly, he didn't know why he'd said it. She was his sworn enemy. Looking into her eyes right now, she was weak and defenceless and… scared. Maybe he'd said it to relieve her fear? It looked like she was struggling to stay awake, losing consciousness. "It's okay." He mumbled softly, brushing her fringe out of her eyes. He didn't know what he was doing. His body had unconsciously started moving. Gary watched her eyes slowly begin to close as she ran out of energy.

She was unconscious.

Gary wondered what to do next… She was his enemy so he should kill her, but on the other hand she was completely defenceless and hadn't even done much against him. Barry was "persuasive". It meant that he'd told her to do all these things, meaning she was completely innocent. He picked her up and carried her to the nurses office, she'd done the same hadn't she?
