As Rainbow helped Gary to the nurse's office, he cried out in pain again and gasped as a lump appeared on his chest. The spell was backfiring. It was pulling his broken ribs further out and if it continued they would rip though his chest. If he was lucky then they wouldn't damage his heart. Rainbow worriedly placed a hand on his chest where the lump was. She didn't really have a choice. She had to retrieve the magic that had enchanted the rib... But it would expose her to him. Gary squeezed his eyes shut in pain and she retrieved the magic quickly. Unfortunately it didn't relieve any of the excruciating pain he was in. She stopped and lay him down on the floor.
"Stay here, I'll go grab the nurse!" She hurriedly told him. He grabbed her arm before she could leave. She turned to him and sat down at his side. The lump had gone down slightly and he had sweat beading his forehead and his face was twisted in pain.
"Wait... d-don't leave me h-here al-one..." Gary stuttered in pain. Rainbow frowned worriedly, if she didn't leave then they wouldn't get to the nurse. She couldn't carry him by herself. "I-I'll walk..." He continued, breathlessly. She stared at him uncertainly, there was no way he could walk in that condition. Slowly, he started to stand up and she helped him walk down the last bit of the corridor.
Rainbow sat him down in the waiting seats and he slumped against the wall. Then she ran into the office. "Help!" She cried out, when the nurse wasn't there. Rainbow frantically searched the back room. A hand placed itself on her shoulder and she jumped and spun round.
"Rainbow? What's wrong?" The nurse asked softly, noticing Rainbow's on edge and frantic behaviour. "Do you need to talk on the sofa?" She continued, patronisingly. Rainbow grit her teeth and pulled the nurse outside the office. She gasped and picked up Gary. "Rainbow stay out here. He'll be fine." She informed her.
Rainbow's mind raced, what if he died because her spell failed? How could she be a murderer at 14? What would she tell him if he'd seen the magic? She knew that he knew about it but what if he told people? She groaned impatiently. She'd have to get Dimond to wipe his memory... God. Dimond. She was going to kill her! What was wrong with her? She'd saved the Sheffield's life! Since she was a kid she'd been taught how to kill people. Sheffield's specifically. The nurse came out and saw Rainbow upside down on the chair, with her head dangling off the chair and her feet against the wall.
"Is he okay?!" Rainbow asked, twisting around and falling off the chair. She quickly stood up as the nurse sighed.
"He's fine. But he's resting. I thought that you would need to talk to me after your friend almost dying..." She explained and gestured to the clipboard she was holding. Rainbow groaned and turned back to the plastic chair. The nurse always treated her like a child, patronising her and being overly condescending. But Rainbow had her as her key worker for a reason. She grumpily stared up at her. The nurse sighed. "If you prefer, I could tell your mother that you are no longer cooperating wi-" The nurse started, before Rainbow immediately stood up and grabbed the nurse, dragging her back into the office. She paused and stared at Gary's lifeless body. Why was she hoping for him to be okay? This would be what it was like when she actually killed him. But way worse. She stared at him guiltily. The voices reminded her that she had done a good job...
