Chapter 125 - Overly Nice - Rainbow

Rainbow was starting to regret telling Gary to prove that he wanted to be her friend, he had been following her all week and being super annoying. He would stop her every time before a door and open it for her, he would always whisper the answer to her in class (even though he knew she already had the answer), and was generally being overly nice in an annoying way. She slumped down at the popular table for lunch, making Barry smirk. Suddenly, she sat up like a bolt of lightning hit her.

"He's not here is he?" She asked quickly, Barry laughed and Dimond told her that he wasn't. Rainbow flopped back down on the table again. She groaned and Dimond rolled her eyes.

"I don't see the problem, I think Sheffield is being really nice!" She started, causing Rainbow to mumble something in response. Barry crossed his arms. Rainbow stared at Dimond's food, she was starving but she knew that if she went to get food, he would force her to let him pay for it.

"That is the problem... He follows me around all day and treats me as if I'm stupid." She mumbled, Dimond laughed at her, but Barry just listened. Which was strange for Barry... She hoped he wouldn't do anything.

"You just aren't used to someone being nice to you for once RB!" Dimond joked, making Barry smirk and Rainbow to roll her eyes. Rainbow's stomach rumbled and she slumped a little further. "If you're hungry RB, just go get some lunch!" She complained, "I'm not going to feed you." She continued. Rainbow frowned and then turned to Barry's less appealing lunch.

"Look, I told you to stay away from Sheffield because he's dangerous, and you didn't listen to me. So who's fault is this really?" Barry added, noticing that Rainbow had switched targets for wanting lunch. "You're not getting any of mine either, so just go up there and get some!" He told her. She frowned, apparently they were both fed up with this as much as she was.

"Can someone at least come with me?" She asked nervously, causing both of them to give her a look. They all thought that she was being stupid, but talking with Gary one on one, made her really nervous. He was the Sheffield, so how did she know that he wasn't going to randomly stab her? Plus she had to actually talk to him. Either way, it messed with her, and made her extremely anxious. That was why she had avoided it for two days now. It wasn't like she'd not had food for two days running before. Barry grit his teeth.

"Alright, this is going to stop. Today." Barry informed her as he crunched his knuckles. She smiled, relieved. Then she started to wonder what he was going to do. "I'm not having you starve yourself, because you're too afraid to talk to some guy that might be there." He explained, as he stood up and went to the buffet cabinet. Whenever he talked like that about her anxiety it made her feel really pathetic. It was one guy that she was twisting her entire life around. He had never really understood what the problem was with her anxiety, he'd always just seen it as her being a scaredy-cat.

Barry came back with a tray and gave it to her. "We're not leaving until you eat all of it." He told her, she frowned. He'd never fully understood her malnourishment either, and thanks to the nurse he now perceived it as anorexia... Rainbow watched him as he thought deeply about something. He turned to her and ruffled her hair, to which she groaned and tried to brush down with her hands. "You have nothing to worry about RB, at least soon you won't..." he mumbled, it actually made her smile. Since Gary had come into the picture, he was still being Barry yes, but he was also being a lot more caring towards her.

He let her know that he did actually worry about her.

And for Barry, that was a huge step.
