Night of the same day.
Xing finally woke up from her deep slumber at around 11 P.M after sleeping for nearly 13 hours. When she woke up, she saw a person near her bed. Thought she did not recall who the person was, she did not get any ill feeling for the person. When the person noticed that movement from the bed, he rose his head towards it with a smile on his face.
"Hello little girl, I am Tan Xiao. I am the one who founded you at the riverbank and brought you her. You can call me uncle Tan for now." Said Mr. Tan in a cheerful voice.
"Hello uncle Tan, thank you for saving my life. But I can't remember my name so I will not be able to introduce myself." Said the little girl.
"Oh! See the bracelet on your left hand can you remember something by seeing the bracelet?" asked Mr. Tan.
After looking at the bracelet. "I don't think I can remember anything right now." Said the little girl.
"Then we can do this for now, we can call you Xing as it is engraved in the bracelet and let the nature take the course so, don't pressurize yourself to remember anything as it might be harmful for your brain as for now." Said Mr. Tan worriedly.
"Do you know me uncle Tan? Do you know my family? Can you take me back? I may remember after I see them."
"I just found you in the riverbank while I was travelling to nearby village so I don't know anything about you. But we will soon know about your family as police are tracking your family. Hope we will soon get the good news till then you should focus on recovering your body."
"Oh! Ok. Said the little girl in a low voice.
After 15 days.
Xing was recovering quite well. The crack in her ribs was now completely healed so she was going to get discharged the next day. Mr. Tan spend most of the time with her in the hospital and was also enjoying the company of Xing but his vacation was near to the end. The bond between both of them has become strong in these few days so, Mr. Tan was a little sad as he thought of separating with this little girl.
In these few days, Xing got to know a lot of things related to Mr. Tan which increased her trust toward Mr. Tan and she realized that Mr. Tan is really a good person from his heart.
On the same day. Officer Gu visited the hospital.
"Hello, Mr. Tan."
"Hello, Officer Gu. Did we get any information on the girl's family?"
"Although we searched all nearby cities from where the river flows, We were not able to grasp any information about the girl. No missing complaints were filled about missing girls in those areas till now. While asking with the nearby peoples they don't recognize the girl." Said, officer Gu.
Listening to officer Gu word sadness evoked in both Mr. Tan and Xing's face and they were not able to speak as they did not know what they should do next.
"As we already tried our best now, we can only find a good orphanage and let Xing live in there." Added officer Gu.
Immediately Mr. Tan responded, "If that's the case then I don't mind adopting Xing as my daughter rather then sending her to an orphanage." After listening to officer Gu's words.
"It will really good for Xing's future if you will adopt her Mr. Tan."
"Xing are you willing to become my daughter?" asked Mr. Tan in a nervous tone as he was afraid that Xing might not accept him as her father.
Xing pounder for a moment and said "I will love to be your daughter if you don't have any problem with that uncle Tan. And I promise you that I will never leave you alone even in the future I regain my memories or my biological parents came to take me." In a clam and promising voice.
After listening to her statement Mr. Tan was really touched and hugged Xing in his embrace.
"Then you should start calling me father from today onwards rather than uncle Tan." Said Mr. Tan while sobbing a little.
Next day after completing the discharge procedure. They went to fulfill the official adoption papers to legally give Xing his household name.
"Xing, as we don't know your exact birthday, the day I met you can be considered as your birthday, are you okay with that? Asked Mr. Tan.
"Yes, uncle…ah, father, I don't mind," said Xing while stuttering
"So, from today onwards 28th august is your birth date and I am your legal guardian. And also, as you look like your age is around 12 years lets believe that you are 12 years."
"Ok father."
"Then shall we return our home?"
"Yes, father."
After returning to the city Mr. Tan was able to send Xing to No. 3 high school with the help of his friend partially and the school also accepted Xing as she got 98% marks in the entrance exam which also shocked Mr. Tan.
At around 10 P.M at night.
Mr. Tan was abruptly brought back to the present when Nurse Mu came to ask if they need any help. Which he declined and ordered a take out and slept in the other hospital bed which was empty.
