His face was damn too close! I could even see his long eyelashes. The bridge of his nose almost touches mine. I held my breath as I am not sure what is happening. I flinched at the knock on the door. He casually moved backward away from me as if what happened was just a natural occurrence. I hated how he easily rendered me speechless.
The door opened and Miss Dianne confidently walked in. I stand up to where I seated as I calm my beating heart.
"It was almost lunchtime, so I thought to invite both of you." She looked at me and smile knowingly. I silently curse myself as I flinched at her knowing look. My mind reeled back to our conversation just this morning.
"Gladly. We just finished the tour. I intend to invite the both of you for lunch actually. I hope you don't mind and join me instead." He formally said.
"If it suits you, right Alice?" Miss Dianne asked me casually. I nodded in agreement.
"Yes, that would be fine Mr. Baek."
"Then shall we?" (Hyung-woo)
I excused myself first and went to my office to get my pouch. They waited at the elevator while chatting enthusiastically. I suddenly felt a pang on my chest looking at them. They looked good together. I ignored the feeling and joined them as the elevator arrived, and we all hopped in.
We went to a near but decent restaurant. We all ordered our preferred dish while casually talking.
"I believed we already met 2 years ago at the party." Miss Dianne said to him.
"Yes. It was during the anniversary of XX Company at the same time the celebration of the 4th of July wasn't it?" He replied. We seated on a 4-seat table. Miss Dianne and I sat together while he seated opposite to her.
My ears suddenly picked the information. I was sure; I was also present at that time and at the same place.
"That is why your name sounds familiar. Did you not meet Mr. Baek at the party too Alice?" she inquired. I shake my head.
"No. I first Mr. Baek back in Korea when I was sent to represent the company." I answered as I did not go much in detail about our so-called "meeting". Technically, this is the third time I met him.
The food arrived and we began eating. Miss Dianne continued to the topic where we left off.
"It that so. It seemed like you've known each other for a long time," she said. She already dropped her formal manner of speaking and switch to being casual unlike in the office. I wonder if the two already hit it off.
"We will continually know each other in the future," Hyung-woo said. I was a bit surprised. Has there a meaning behind it? He smiled at me first and gaze at Miss Dianne. They looked at each other like theirs a spark between their gazes. They seemed to went along already. Isn't there's a saying that same feathers flock together? I feel like my food did not taste good in my mouth.
"Anyway, Mr. Hyung-woo, we invite you to a welcoming party in your honor before the weekends. I hope we will not interrupt your schedule and join us." Miss Dianne said. It was already discussed by the team in advance of the upcoming welcome party to the new boss of our department. Everybody is excited simply because we rarely go out and have fun. Obviously, it was also because the budget will be shouldered by the finance office. If ever we exceed on our supposed budget, we will just have to add it personally.
"It's an honor. I am also looking forward to it." He simply replied and gave a timid smile. Miss Dianne excused herself in the bathroom after she finished her meal.
"Is the food not in your liking?" He suddenly asked. I did not eat much as if I lost my appetite.
"No. I was already full, so I was not able to finish it." I made an excuse. He looked at me intently as if probing the truthfulness of my words. He did not say anything, but he leaned closer and touched the side of my lips with a tissue.
"W-what?" I was started by his sudden move.
"You have a sauce on your face." He innocently said. A blush crept on my face feeling ashamed as he continually wiped it gently. I grabbed the tissue from his hand.
"Thank you, I will do it, Mr. Baek."
"Why do you still call me Mr. Baek? You know my name."
"Is there something wrong the way I call you?" I retaliated. Is it not obvious? Duh? What's with this guy?
"Hyung-woo." he seriously said.
"Huh?"
"Call me Hyung-woo from now on."
