The kingdoms registration building was packed with excited children and parents.
I saw tons of different species of people aswell. Big bull people, skinny elves, demon people all sorts of different races coming together.
All the different races had different kinds of specialties. Beast people had massive strength, Demons where good at darker magic, Elves with light magic, humans where just a jack of all trades not too good or bad at anything. But every single person had their own unique quirks or attributes. There could be a demon good at fire magic or a human good with light magic or any combination.
Now to get awakened you would wait in line and go up to and elder who had a magic crystal he would do a chant and touch the crystal to your head and it would shine in a certain color indicating what you were good at.
If you body had more fighter energy it would shine a bright red meaning you'd be a fighter.
If it had more magical energy it would shine a brilliant blue signifying a mage.
Of course there were on the very rare occasions a flash of purple meaning you had an even amount of fighting and magical energy which was extremely rare and you'd be classified as a magical swordsman.
After the awakening you would be brought to a counter where a small metal plate would be stamped with your identity and your class. Mage, Fighter, Magic Swordsman.
You would then be handed an item based on your class. A mage would receive a Grimoire. Grimoires could be used to record spells and let you cast them. There would of course be different kinds of grimoires and ranks but we can talk about that later on.
Fighters would be given a soul weapon embryo. It binds to you and becomes a weapon perfectly suited to you. These could be strengthened by adding materials to the soul weapon embryo.
Magic swordmen received both free, of course fighters or mages could offer to buy the other but they weren't cheap.
I watched children happily start summoning out different colored grimoires and different kinds of weapons.
Finally it was my turn I was rather excited I mean what person doesn't want to learn cool magic?
I stepped forward and the old man smiled kindly before starting his chant and pressing the crystal to my forehead. There was a brilliant flash of purple and I got to enjoy my parents shocked looks as i felt a rush of energy inside myself.
[Chaos egg has hatched congratulations] Cassie's happy sweet voice sounded out but I didn't have time to check on my companion as I was swept off my feet by ecstatic parents.
"Oooh my little baby is a genius I knew it all along." my mother said happily while my father just laughed madly.
I was carried over to the counter where the aide gave me an appraising look while he stamped out my little metal card with my name and class.
He handed me a tiny book and a little glowing orb along with a slip of paper. Apparently magic swordsmen are excused from fees at the Academy due to them being quite rare in the kingdom.
This is in hopes of the kids feeling greatful and joining the army as magic swordmen are powerful foes.
My parents were even more happy and quickly dragged me along to go celebrate with some snacks from a food stall.
"Since we saved so much money we can get you a couple more sets of clothes and save up for a proper set of gear so you don't have to use second hand items." my father said happily. Gear is always expensive.
We happily made our way home eating some BBQ beast meat on sticks it had a delicious honey sauce glaze.
Inside the house they finally realized a key point.
"Quickly show us your Grimoire and weapon so we can get you the proper training manuals." mother said excitedly.
I first started with the Grimoire. It quickly binded to me.
[Magical artifact bound to host.]
Out popped a large book but it was strange as it was constantly changing colors like a flowing galaxy.
my mother let out a gasp.
"Beautiful I've never seen a Grimoire like this before what element is it sweety." she asks me.
I give her a bitter laugh. "It's every element I can use all magics."
This time they were both shocked. They had never heard of a grimoire that can use all magics.
They where excited then quickly realised the problem. "There is no way we can afford that many magic books." dad said with a bitter laugh like mine.
Magic books were expensive like thousands of gold expensive even in my shop they cost 1000 gold for a basic one.
"Well we can let him pick an element and I still have my wind magic books he can use aswell." Mother said with a happy compromise.
"That works for me thank you." I say happily.
"Well let's see your weapon those are much easier to solve as I know tons about weapons and I can probably teach you my moves." he said with a boisterous laugh.
I pulled out the glowing little orb and bound that aswell.
[Soul weapon obtained binding complete.] Cassie's voice rang out once more.
A thin silvery chain started to squirm around my hands and crawl along my body like a snake all by itself on the top of the chain was a razor sharp spear point. At the other end was a silver metal ball.
"A chain?" my dad looks at it in confusion he had never seen someone use a chain before. "Well its rare that's for sure but we can still find a manual about it I bet." he says optimistically. "If not I bet we can just try a whip manual and see what we can figure out." my mother adds.
"Now what about your companion what kind of surprises do you have in store for us with them?" my father jokingly says.
