Chapter 13 - Time-travel

Luna and Akiro were brought into the space of time which was a place where only the two of them could travel. Then Akiro swiftly held Luna's hands as they went through the door. Inside it, Luna went bewildered when they floated like astronauts in space as she could hardly control herself towards this zero-gravity space. She only heaved a sigh of relief when Akiro guided her.

Then Akiro started rotating the doorknob but it would not budge. His brows almost formed into a straight line while his hand tightened its grip from the knob.

"Why won't it open this time? It's the first time the door's locked," he uttered, condused and irritated.

Luna's expression was the same as him but she kept her composure and wondered how could she help and then began to stare at the door. 'The door's locked. We can use a key if there is one in this unknown space,' she thought.

Then she turned towards Akiro and suggested an idea that would or would not work although it would not hurt trying. "Maybe we need a key," Luna said.

"Key, key, I want the key to this doooorrrr," she mumbled.

However, Akiro just looked at her with a lifted brow. "What are you doing?" he asked.

Meanwhile, a light brightly shone on Luna's chest. A necklace appeared with a golden key as a pendant. Her eyes gleamed and looked at him, with a small grin, showing how she's right. She took off the necklace and gave it to him.

"I think it will work. The key wouldn't appear out of nothing," Luna uttered.

Akiro took it without saying a thing and inserted the key into the doorknob. Then they heard something clicked, a sign that it did open. Not long after, the door slowly opened by itself. It's Akiro's turn to be left baffled nonetheless, he didn't have the time to be thinking about how it happened. He turned his head towards Luna and took her hand once again.

"Let's go," he said.

They went towards the opened door and then Luna felt the surroundings changed in an instant. When she opened her eyes, she found themselves standing in front of the West Village. The huge sign above was clear to see.

The West Village didn't look that much different but Luna noticed some tiny details that were different than in the present time.

"We're here in the past two years before the present time," Akiro said. He said it so Luna would not doubt that they went to the past as the time difference was only two years so the changes weren't that noticeable.

"So that's why I can only see tiny changes," Luna uttered.

Hearing it, Akiro thought that his explanation wasn't useful since Luna was smart enough to notice the changes despite the time. Moreover, it was already evening. The surroundings were dark enough to notice such tiny details.

Since it's nighttime, Luna was able to see the beautiful skies outdoors during the evening. Coincidentally, the two moons of Vermillion at this time were crescent and the cluster of stars was shining brilliantly. She was amazed by the scenery but her excitement turned into sadness. It was at this peaceful moment when Claret was accused of a witch who had done badly and attempted to burn her. Her hands slowly balled into fists but she cleared off her negative thoughts as to prevent herself from losing her focus.

Looking at her state, Akiro quickly called her attention. "Let's now look for her," he uttered.

Luna went back into her senses and nodded. They started to walk carefully to avoid the eyes of the people. Since Akiro already knows where the scene happened, she followed him. They walked a few left and right turns of an alleyway and reached a grassland although its size was not comparable to where Luna first ended up.

"We're near," Akiro whispered.

When Luna turned her head to the left, she saw a woman filled with blood around her chest.

"That's her!" Luna said.

However, Akiro looked back at Luna for her loud voice.

"Shhh," Akiro uttered.

They hid behind a tall tree and peeked from time to time. The scene that he told her had exactly happened. Meanwhile, Akiro covered her eyes which prevented her from peeking from what happened. She could not even hear anything. Luna guessed that it was Akiro's doing with his magic which she did not know if she really needed it or not.

Somehow, Akiro didn't expect that they traveled much early. They should have time-traveled to where the unknown person took Claret. Luna, who was not used to this environment might trouble her in the future especially if she came back to Earth with a different personality. Akiro wouldn't accept that to happen so he chanted a spell to her. A spell that could prevent sound from traveling through her ears.

Akiro had a spell to block one's eyesight but since he's saving magic, he chose to cover her eyes.

The guards started a fire spell to burn the logs that surrounded Claret. He could see John who was held by the other guards to prevent him from saving his sister. Akiro dispelled his spell after the incident. After that, the unknown person suddenly appeared. That person was the one who took Claret's body from the fire.

"Quick, let's follow that person," Akiro uttered.

Luna also peeked when she felt that he dispelled his magic. The unknown person was running fast that was beyond human's natural abilities.

"W-wait! I can't run that fast!" Luna said.

Akiro quickly sat on the ground with his back facing hers. She was suddenly left confused.

"Then get on my back, faster!" he said.

Because of urgency, Luna did not have a second thought and immediately went on his back. She didn't want to be left here and wanted to know what's the reason for that unknown person taking Claret's body. Akiro stood up after. The moment he started to run, Luna held tightly but kept in mind if she would accidentally choke him.

"It's t-too f-fast!" Luna said. She could even barely speak because of the speed.

'What's wrong with the people here?! They're moving as if they're vehicles!' Luna thought.

"Don't shout, it could startle that person, and don't worry, you'll get used to it," Akiro said.

'Get used to it?! How can she get used to such insanely fast speed!' Luna thought. She even held more tightly than earlier, not minding if she could choke Akiro. It's because Akiro jumped so high without any warning.

'Running in the speed of a vehicle and them jumping like there's a trampoline?! I am really unlucky this time!' Luna thought.

Akiro didn't want to jump for fun though, it was because several huge roots of tall trees were in the way and could slow them down so he had no choice but to jump high.

"Hold tight, and endure a little more, I feel that person's destination is not too far by now," Akiro said.

Luna closed her eyes with gritted teeth. 'I won't let this happen again!' she uttered.
