Chapter 31 - Night of some past

Eun Woo nodded and asked hesitatingly, "Umm...What about your parents?"

Before speaking she took a deep sigh. "They also live in Shimla, but with....m...my elder sister." She hesitated a bit whole saying about her sister.

Kaya never talked about her family with anyone before except Dhruv and Neel but just once or twice with a lot of difficulty. But with him she started talking herself. It was quite new for her but still she was telling him like she wants him to know about her. 'Should i tell him or not?'

Eun Woo was confused about why she hadn't lived with her parents, but before he could ask Kaya voiced out. "Actually, Shimla is hometown of grandma and birthtown of grandpa. But grandpa has lived in Paris since he was a kid, they fell in love when they were in college and grandma moved to Paris after marriage to live with him."

"But after few years grandpa got busy in his conferences and researching so that he barely had time to even come back home. Later they got divorced. Grandma then moved back to Shimla with her son and they just lived there afterwards. Grandpa used to come to Shimla to meet Grandma and his son but after grandma has died he comes home rarely and whenever he did, he always cried remembering her."

"Last time, he came when Neel moved out of the country. After that he never came instead he just took me to Paris every summer. But you know what, he just lived with me hardly for a week then i had to live with Neel. Or sometimes, grandpa's neighbour used to come to live with us..." She paused and sighed. "I wish that even just for a day i could live with both grandpa and grandma.

"Are you missing them?"

"Hmm!!" She closed her eyes and sighed heavily.

"Just look up in the sky. They say after death souls reside there." He said while pointing up to the sky with his forefinger. "Also, you and your grandpa are standing under the same sky. So, whatever you wanna say to them, just say it to sky. They both will listen."

She looked at Eun Woo with a vacant disgust on her face. "All this happens in fairylands and dramas, not in real life. Real life is a real... b**ch."

He laughed at his remarks on life before saying, "Just lie down and see the sky carefully, how beautiful it is at the moment. Life is sum of all this moments, if we will learn to enjoy just the moment we are living in, won't it end to a beautiful bunch of moments: the fairy happy life with some sad moments, which will also fade away at the end of the day leading you to a more happier moment of life."

Kaya followed his lead and lie down beside him. "Why do you think so?"

"You wanna listen?" He turned to her side. Kaya just nodded also looking at him.

"Few years back, we were about to disband due to some reasons. We all were in money crisis. All we heard was hatred from the world and ignoring the love our fans were giving us. My ex girlfriend broke up with me with a reason that i don't have any future."

"My family pressurized me to come back. I thought that i wasn't a good son. I took myself as useless, neither a good boyfriend nor a good entertainer."

"And in the heat of moment i promised them about everything my parents asked. I was so depressed due to all of this that i thought i should die. Nobody loves me and life was just pushing me down each second. There is no reason to live."

While he was speaking looking at her, Kaya was also looking at him listening to him carefully.

"I was standing in between life and death and looking down from the height. My whole life was infront of my eyes and i was crying reminding those beautiful moments of my life but i was so obsessed with all the hatred and all that and what i could feel was that i should just die."

"But before I could do that foolish act. Someone saved me and in just that moment that person made me realise how precious and beautiful life is, no matter how much pain there is but it will fade away and happiness will come with more might."

"Thanks to the person who saved you back then so that today i could lie here under the sky with you and talk to you." She murmured while staring straight into his eyes which she was able to see inspite of the dark.

"What did you say?" He said when he listened her whispery voice.

"You're reminding me of someone." She bit out.

"Who?"

"Myself and someone i think whom i've met twice but could never meet really. And it just my thinking because at last the truth was that the first meet was a coincidence and second one was just my illusion." She was looking in his green hazel eyes contemplating in her mind at the moment, 'Why i feel vulnerable around him? I am sharing the stuff with him that i could never be able to talk to myself. Why am i so relaxed with him?'

She really couldn't get herself like what is what? An hour or two ago, she was treating him as her allergen and now he had been a tonic to her inner uncomfortableness.

"What are you looking at?" Eun Woo's voice fumbled Kaya who was staring in his eyes. "Nothing!!" She looked away from him.

Eun Woo also turned on his back, saying, "Talk you heart out. Shout out everything you wanna say to your grandparents. I'm sure you will feel good."

"Doesn't it look lame?" She said with a unconfident tone turning her neck towards Eun Woo.

"Trust me!! Nobody is here except me and for me, it is cool." He said, also looking at her.

Kaya nodded and looked up at the sky. "Grandma!!.... How are you?" Her tone was really soft and cracked. She had not spoken the word 'Grandma' since ages and now he had made her to talk to the grandma. "This guy lying beside me says you live in the sky. And i don't know why I am believing him." She giggled at the end.

"Hi, Grandma!!" Eun Woo said waving to sky smiling fron ear to ear making his eyes wrinkled. "Talk to her. She is telling I'm good and thanking me for telling you that she lives in the sky."

She nodded still giggling and continued, "I miss you...a lot!!" The giggles were gone by the second when she told her about missing her. "I always felt scared at night in my room. Nobody celebrated those medals with me that i won. I really missed you."

Her voice was becoming more broken with every word that Eun Woo had to check on her to make sure that she was not crying. It seemed like it's taking a lot of power for her to speak and which was somewhat true. He had the urge the hold her hand and tell her that 'Its okay, i'm here.' and let her head rest on his shoulder while covering his arm around her shoulders. But he was fighting that urge really hard to not make use of her vulnerability which he now had got to know.

"Why did you have to go the sky so soon? Nobody told me bed stories after you. Nanny always slept in her room. Neel also later moved to Paris with his family. And Grandpa, he never has time time for me." She paused and sighed with her eyes closed to open them with a smile on her lips. "But don't worry, I'm doing very good. You just take care of yourself."

"Does Milo also there with you? Tell him that Kaya loves him and misses him too. Love you, dadi*!!! Bye!!"

[*dadi — In Hindi language, people call grandma as dadi.]

While she was talking, Eun Woo was looking at her smiling and thinking to himself, 'She is just like a hidden little child at the core.'

She continued her 'sky talks' as suggested by Eun Woo. "Grandpa!!!!!!!! where are you? Give me a call atleast. I'm missing you...really I'm doing a lot. I've not met you after my college graduation ceremony. Come home." She paused before saying, "Why my life is like this? Why things can't be simpler?" Her voice tone was clearly showing her sadness.

"Meet me soon!!!! I'm missing you. If you will not come home till next weekend, i will never talk to you." She really shouted to the sky and sighed a sigh of satisfaction.

"How are you feeling now?" Eun Woo asked after letting the smile on her lips reach upto her eyes.

"So good!!" She smiled with a sigh of relaxation.
