Chapter 33 - Pasta and Ice-creams

Dhruv was cooking pasta in the kitchen after changing into a new set of clothes while Kaya was eating the ice-cream sitting on the kitchen shelf facing Dhruv and giving a spoonful in between to Dhruv also. "So!??" Dhruv said while placing over the lid.

"What?!" Kaya looked confusingly up at him with her big doe eyes and the spoonful of ice-cream near her mouth.

In response, he raised his brows when Kaya turned that spoonful of ice-cream towards his mouth. Seeing this, Dhruv smiled and let the his taste buds savour the ice-cream.

"You were saying that you wanna talk. So, what it is? Talk now?" Dhruv said while taking the spoon out of her hand to feed himself.

"Ahh!! That." Kaya said before taking the spoon from his hand and fill her mouth with ice-cream. "Sylvie told me to talk to you." She said with a mouth full of ice-cream.

"Sylvie??" He said in surprise while going out of the kitchen with two plates of pasta in his hands.

Kaya followed him after placing the ice-cream box in the fridge and getting two bottles of beer which she opened with opener. "Umm... Yeah! Sylvie." She said while walking out of the kitchen and drinking her beer. "But first liste—" Dhruv didn't hear her.

"Ohh!!! Has she gone more prettier? Did she tell you to ask me to go on a date with her? She should have told me personally. Ahh!! This handsome face-" He said while placing his face on his palm. "and this hot body.-" He said while spreading his arms in the air while standing. "Nobody can escape my charms." He pinched the dramatic furrow between his brows and went to the kitchen while saying, "Let me bring the glasses and wine. Time to toast, my girl!!"

Within a jiffy he was back with two wine glasses and a bottle of Vermouth that he brought here with him. Kaya poured themselves wine, handing over one glass to Dhruv and took her own glass near her nose to let the aroma of Vermouth please her before drinking it. It was her usual habit.

She ate and drank, all while listening to Dhruv's self-praises and his future plannings with Sylvie. After drinking her glass of wine, she picked the beer bottle, which she didn't realise when she emptied. She sighed and placed it down at table. She poured herself another glass of wine.

In between his all own talks, she tried to stop him and tell him that what Sylvie had really said but he was unstoppable. Since the first time he had seen Sylvie, he had a huge crush on her. They both had dated for a while too, but that little while was enough for make him not able to forget her.

Kaya wanted to listen to him and whatever he had to share but he had reached upto his children fantasies which was getting little too overboard. Even after knowing that Sylvie is getting married by the end of next year, he still hadn't accepted it and was not over yet.

This made Kaya more to listen to him but seeing him that much hurted that he couldn't even accept this, she was getting hurt too. She wanted him to face the reality and get over his past. She had tried and she wanna try again now. She slammed the fork on the table making a sharp thud voice. "Stop it! Dhruv!" He was baffled, well he should. Looking at Kaya surprisingly, like didn't know what he did to make her mad.

She got on her feet and looking at Dhruv with eyes full of apprehension. "Enough!!! Face it. Accept it. She is getting married, for God's sake. Wake up from you dream." Her voice was firm, yet low and calm.

He was utterly baffled as to not know what should he do. He didn't speak a word and Kaya waited patiently for him to speak at least once. Then he putted his head in his hands, shutting his eyes off. "I couldn't. I tried, you know i did but—"

"I know. But did you really tried... honestly?" She turned to stand behind him and rubbed his back gently. "Past can never be undone. At least accept the truth first. You can go nowhere with your masked laughs and hidden cries. Admit it that you've done wrong. First to yourself and then think of others." While listening to her, he finished his beer.

He got up the from his seat and slammed his palms on the table, "I did nothing wrong. It was all those conditions that made me do that."

Making Kaya jump back in fear when seeing him this raged, first time since he had left Sylvie two years ago after putting the reason that he doesn't do long distance relationships. He was really devastated back then.

Kaya, Noah and Neel told him to go talk to Sylvie, but he was just throwing his anger here and there and letting his stupid ego grow more.

He didn't listened a word back then but this time she was hellbent to make him realise what he did. She couldn't let him live in his delusions. "Oh please!!! Stop behaving like this."

"What about the promise of her waiting her whole life for only me?" He chugged down his whole glass of wine which he hadn't even touched since Kaya had poured for him.

"What about the promise of you never leaving her?" retorted Kaya.

"I never left her. I just said her that i don't do long distance relationships and i think we should stop." He said while turning around to face Kaya who was standing behind her.

"You not 'just'— she enunciated the word just before continuing further — said this, you said that she is always busy and so clingy. Also, you don't do long distances and you two should stop. That's what you said. Then you flew back from there, never picked her calls and never replied her texts. And instead of all this she flew all over from Paris to India just to talk to you but you didn't even showed up once. Leaving everything behind, her work, career just to stay with you and what you did. You didn't even talked her once for that whole two months before she went back."

"She was busy and clingy. She was way too busy for me. If its not that, then may be we could be together now."

"Don't blame your faults on others. And you two have never been together because you must have find some else reason."

Even through all this quarrels, their voices were not that high. Still it had started to heat up. "If you had that much of problem of her being busy, then you should have considered it before getting into relationship with her. She is a friggin' doctor and researcher and you knew it well from the start. It was all you from the start, you crushed on her, you proposed her even after twenty-five rejections and when she got attached to you, you left her. You never got that much of attention and love, it was overwhelming for you that you just tried to escape from it so that you could go back to habitual abnormal 'normal zone'. You made the reason of your wrongdoings that she didn't have time for you. Infact she always made time for you no matter how much busy her schedule is. You were selfish, dude!"
