Chapter 17 - Amusement park [2]

"One ride, that's all," she spoke out, surprised with herself.

When she walked back to search for him, she did not expect the male to be seated upon the same bench and his icecream eaten by now.

Despondency was visible on his face while he stared at the ground, and staring at her watch, Chaerin wondered how long he had been sitting like that.

There was a possibility that he was only doing this for her eyes, and this was all feigned. However, that did not stop her from feeling slightly guilty, and before she realized it, those words left her mouth.

It was not only her; even he seemed astonished by her words. Raising his head, he stared at her with widened eyes before the corner of his lips curved to form a wide smile.

"You mean it?" he cheerfully questioned. The sadness that was once there did not leave any remnants.

She nodded and said, "Only five minutes."

"Sure," he spoke out, "It's just one ride, but I guess it is better than nothing."

Riding the rollercoaster was not the best decision taken. While Ryu Seyoon felt joyful and excited throughout the entire ride, the same could not be said for Jung Chaerin.

Her stomach churned, and after the first turn taken, she found herself getting sick. Bile rose up her throat, and Chaerin had the desire to throw up. It took her great self-control to prevent that from happening.

Now that both of them were off the ride, Chaerin felt slightly dizzy, and placing his hand around her shoulder, Seyoon supported her over to the bench. Once she had seated upon the bench, he handed a water bottle to her.

Opening the cap, she took a sip out of the cold water as he voiced out, "Sorry, this is my fault. I should have gone to somewhere else."

"It's alright. You did not know. I didn't expect myself to be this weak as well. A long time had passed since I last rode one," she said, "I couldn't remember how I felt the last time I got on one."

"I brought you here to have fun, but I guess that is ruined now," he said.

Raising her head, Chaerin stared at Seyoon, and taking this as a chance to voice out her thoughts, she questioned, "Do you pity me?"

Her question caught the male off guard for a second— indicated by his widened eyes— before he let out a chuckle and said, "No, you don't seem pitiful to me. You are suffering through pain probably and lonely, but that's not enough to make you pitiful."

Jung Chaerin did not know whether or not to be pleased with answers. There are only a few people— who could be counted with one of her hand— actually pitied her, and this made Seyoon similar to the most people around her.

"You appear to be displeased by that," he pointed out.

"It's not that," she said, "It's merely that you were too honest right now. What are you doing this for? Do you want me to extend our contract or have me to marry you? Do you want me to fall for you and grow attached to you?"
