Chapter 20 - Her fear [2]

The itch in her nose subsided once she let out a sneeze. The sound made Ryu Seyoon raise his head, and worry was visible in eyes as he stared at her.

"Did you catch a cold?" he questioned.

"A simple sneeze doesn't mean that I caught cold," Jung Chaerin answered.

"Bundle up today before going to work," he said, "Are you unable to sleep now as well? You wanted to sleep with me to try to see if it works, but that never happened."

Chaerin recalled about mentioning that to Seyoon, but it had been put off due to how busy she had been with work. If it was not for him informing about it to her now, it would have completely slipped off of her mind.

"Let's test it over the weekend," she spoke out.

Raising the spoon filled with soup, Seyoon placed it inside his mouth, and after swallowing that, he questioned, "Why not tonight?"

"I have to put an all-nighter, so it would not be possible," she voiced out, "It goes for the rest of the days in the week as well."

"If I help you with it, you would not need to stay awake all night, right?" Seyoon questioned, raising one of his eyebrows.

His words caught Jung Chaerin by surprise, and her eyes surprise. Remaining silent, she waited for him to explain further.

"Don't worry. I am not a commerical spy. You already made me sign that thick contract, remember? People often say that I am multi-talented, so I might be of little help to you. At least that will make you get off work earlier," he expressed.

The offer was tempting, but it seemed too good to be true to Jung Chaerin. Moreover, even if she was able to trust him, she did not know his skills. More importantly, she was used to working on her own. Having him— although he could be more or less helpful— might distract her.

Protruding his bottom lip forward, he blinked his eyes multiple times at her in his attempt to look cute and voiced out, "Please don't reject me, alright? There will be no problem. You can even test me."

Those eyes were difficult to resist, and Ryu Seyoon knew that. That was one conclusion Chaerin came to once her eyes fell upon him.

Nonetheless, wanting to maintain her resolution— mostly for the sake of her pride— she vocalised, "There is no need for you to interfere with my work. Just do what you are told to. You don't need to contribute more."

"You are really hard-headed, Chaerin-ssi," he voiced out, "No matter what you say, I will be helping you out. Just think of it as my selfish wish. You're my boss, and if you collapse, who will be giving me my paycheck?"

"You have already signed a contract, Ryu Seyoon-ssi, and regardless of what happens to me, you will be paid accordingly," she pointed out.

"You don't need to be that cold," he stated, "All the employees are fond of currying favour with their boss. Consider it to be one of that."
